I am biased against this place and will never go back.. but I'm gonna give it a 4 just cause i'm crazy - I'd probably really enjoy it if I didn't have a bad experience there. I've only been once and as I was leaving the bouncer punched me in the stomach - I have no idea why - but it was nearly the end to one of the most comically bad nights ever. The place is one of these over-priced boston "clubs" that feels more like a lounge with really loud music than a full on club. To give you an idea they describe themselves like this, "Behind the velvet ropes, past the world's most beautiful people, lies a nightclub never to be forgotten [I certainly won't]. As world renowned DJs spin the latest dance tunes, chanting tables take over the room and a melodic hush lulls the room to ecstasy" .... it goes on... but need I say more? read more

Never again. This place is awful. The employees are rude. The prices are high. The place is boring. It is so dark inside you can not even see what you are doing. Management and employees are so cocky yet the place was half empty. Lighten up. I thought nightlife was supposed to be fun. No wonder the quality of fun in Boston has gone down hill. Booooo!! read more

First, it is pricey ($25 for the cover & $12 for a red bull vodka). Second, the music is not good...I mean, Blue by Eiffel 65 & Simarik by Tarkan, really? can't the DJ put something more up-to-date like Rihanna or Kanye West? Finally, the bartenders are the terrible!! They are quite possibly the most stupid people in the world, they think they are cooler than the rest of the people and they will insult you if they have a chance. Bottom line: Don't waste your time and money to go to this place!!!! read more

Venu is a fun place to get funky....great DJs, but they really need to expand dance space, it gets a little crowded. Drinks are more expensive than they are worth, but the atmosphere is fun...bartenders and bouncers are nice and accomodating. Don't go if you don't like getting sweaty! read more

Venu is really fun on Saturday night, that's hip hop night and they mix it with some reggae which is nice. Also get on the guest list and print out the confirmation email. The guest list cover is $15 and without the guest list its $25. Also TURN UP at your house because the drinks are expensive they are $15 even for a shot. And oh be ready to see ratchet females. But other than that its a very nice place with good music you'll deff enjoy your time there read more

It's a little on the pricey side, but it's more of a guaranteed good time than some of the other clubs around Boston. The music is consistently danceable, the clientele is attractive, and the space itself is fun and conducive to getting down with your bad self. read more

It's fun. I haven't gone in like over a year tho.... I used to go for their International nights and once in awhile an Asian night (but they're so lame, I only went cuz my friends wanted to go... there's always drama/a fight boo!) But I love mingling with the International crowd, always good fun. read more

It's not that bad of a spot (compared to the rest of Boston). I've been here twice and the crowd is always decent to attractive, and the guys don't have that same douchebaggery they have at other places like Gypsy. I haven't been in a while, but I always had a pretty good time. read more

This is a fun place but all depending on which night you go. Thursdays is industry night and it's really fun with good music. You have the regular Friday and Saturday nights also. The club has a variant of music and rooms. You have a room dedicated to hiphop/reggae and the regular techno/dance room. The crowd is usually attractive and the lines are long. They do have guest lists so if you can find someone that does one you can grab a discounted entry. Also, the drinks are pricey. Be prepared to pay 12 bucks for a Vodka Red bull, which is normal anyway for Boston. Overall this is one of my fav clubs in Boston. I recommend specially if you're European read more

one of my top spots, best music, best crowds, and international sundays are awesome. but pricy so i try to get on the list Drinks are way over priced, pre-game it. read more

awful, just awful. it feels like you're in a bad rap video. just terrible. it's a place that "The Jersey Shore" should be taped. $25 cover + 45 minute line + $12 drinks = terrible I even had a VIP table, and was on the guest list. terrible, dont go. read more

Fate lead us here when my friend and I were unable to get into Bijou for a birthday celebration. I didn't expect much, but as soon as we entered, I fell in love (with the place lol). There is not much room to dance and if you didn't book a table, you have to resort to leaning against the huge bar in the center of the space. The music was right down my alley - a lot of club and house remixes and such. I will definitely be back here at some point. read more

This club has a very light vetting policy when it comes to the bouncers. The bouncers here are overly aggressive, asking my female friend to spread her legs when a regular pat-down is okay and tackling same girl when she simply asked the DJ to play a song. Unacceptable treatment from Luke the bouncer and the entire team, who harassed our group as we waited for our uber with our friend who was CRYING because the bouncer tackled her. Music was not even good, how are you going to play more lil Wayne on international night than anything else. Don't go to venu, it's not even worth the free cover we paid to get in. read more

Music at Venu is always on point, but at what cost? Got VIP table service last weekend. Only VIP reservations that night. Our contact was some dude'a brother in a sweatshirt and winter hat. Guest list was irrelevant, we all paid $20 to get in "discounted" from $30. The fxck am I paying almost a G for if I gotta pay $20 to get in? Those idiots don't talk to each other and they bank on people being unconfrontational. Never spending real money at that shit shack again. read more

Total assholes. Two friends were on the guest list, but didn't get to go upstairs until they figured out who the promoter was (wtf?). Another friend was charged $30 on a $25 cover night. Another friend in the group didn't get in, so we quickly all left, but the guy who was ripped off in the first place couldn't get a refund (thankfully he was the only one who had managed to pay at this point). We got there at opening and still had to wait about 20 minutes because they can't run a tight ship. One person at the door was professional, but that's it. Bad experience, not going back. read more

Loved the music, loved the atmosphere! I just can't believe you have to pay $20 to dance though...

I was there on a Saturday night and it was like a high school gym divided until some leaving-nothing-to-the-imagination group of girls started off the dance floor. The music was pretty good, but the dj kept cutting off the good songs after about 20 sec. After having a drink thrown in my face, a club promoter, while trying to make me dance after the incident, stepped on my foot and I now have a perfectly round dent where every strap and sandal thong puts its pressure and it hurts like hell. Regardless, I kept dancing so 3 stars. read more

I WISH I COULD GIVE 0 STARS!! HORRIBLE, RUDE SECURITY!! To begin, this place is small, crowded, and overpriced. Being from Miami, it's not uncommon to be crowded, but the size (or lack thereof) was ridiculous. It was overpriced for the quality of place as well. NOW, MY BIGGEST ISSUE with the place occurred towards the end. As my boyfriend and I were leaving, a drunk guy grabbed me. Being the gentleman he is, my boyfriend defended me. It turned into a huge issue, yet SECURITY DID NOTHING- while the group of 20 guys threw my boyfriend to the ground, kicking him. Security completely ignored what was happening, and ended up telling us to walk away... REALLY? I told security what the guy(s) did and they told us, "yes, you're right, now calm down and walk away, they still have a tab open at the bar, he can do whatever he want". EXCUSE ME?? In Miami, at a REAL club, this would never happen; that guy would be kicked out at the first complaint. (The large, Caucasian bouncer with the beard should be fired). Instead, they did nothing and I was forced to commence defending myself. The security had no idea what to do, they did not handle the situation appropriately AT ALL. They told us to talk to the police outside, who told us they were dealing with a bigger issue (totally understandable). The security is unprofessional, the venue is overpriced, and it is small. Don't waste your time- if you want nightlife, maybe Boston isn't the place to be. read more

So I enjoyed The music and I like that there is two rooms to be in one with hip hop and house music and the other mainly latin music a lot of people dancing it had a good vibe...but just letting you guys know now The Cover Charge blows $25!!! and drinks were expensive I paid $14 for a caps and coke which did not taste very good and wasn't even a good size of a drink... read more

As was said in some other reviews this is definitely a place you want to pregame so you don't go broke, it is pricey to enter and pricey to drink. I always recommend planning a trip here in advance so you can get on a reduced guest list. Been to some international nights here and the music and crowd has always been good, although I do prefer Rumor next door. They have 2 rooms in Venu with different music in each. read more

"Where your Fantasy becomes reality. Showgirls, casino games, and entertainment galor throughout the evening. Take a break at our Vegas Buffet, look for our Elvis impersonator performing live, and shake your groove thang in the best nightclub in the land, the purest Vegas experience. " We arrived at Venu around 9:05 PM on New Year's Eve, since doors were supposed to open at 9 PM and I figured there would be a line. Boston had a negative degree windchill that evening and once we arrived, the bouncers made me and my 5 friends stand outside and wait about 25-30 minutes since they were obviously not ready to open the club for guests. Finally after I made a request to a bouncer to at least wait somewhere warmer..(me and my friend were wearing dresses with long wool coats) ...he let us wait in a corner, still outside, until they were ready to open. They let me and her in after 10 minutes of that, but still didn't let my guy friends in. We got in there, checked our coats for $4 each and I had my boots checked too for an additional $4. As we walked up the stairs, it wasn't much warmer in the club than it was outside. It was seriously about 40 degrees in there and stayed that way for about an hour and a half. We hit the bathroom since there wasn't anyone in the club yet, and all the dancers were in the bathroom still getting ready at 9:30. There was also a tile missing in the bathroom floor in which my heel got caught in and I tripped but didn't fall. The women's bathroom was disgusting and there was random small rolls of toilet paper on the WET floor. We left the bathroom and saw our friends that finally got let in and we then got our free drinks in which we got with our $65 ticket purchase, what a bargain..right? HA.. Vodka drinks other than that were $12 plus tip.. a shot of SoCo was $10..There were no "showgirls" or girls even dressed up in vegas style clothing. I didn't see any casino games at all. Just a couple of Vegas decorations hanging up and some chocolate poker chips scattered on the bar. There was supposed to be complimentary champagne and "party favors"which I didn't see anywhere. I talked to a bouncer about the cold temperature in the club and he was extremely polite to me and addressed the concern with a manager after stating that I was one of the many to complain, even a few waitresses were wearing coats over their dresses. The Elvis impersonator was a creep and was finding any way to grind up on drunk girls. The DJ played a lot of commercial music. There was no warning of the midnight countdown, just about less than a minute.. I'm also a casual smoker and my boyfriend and I attempted to get our coats and have a cigarette before midnight, but weren't allowed to get our coats frmo the coat check.. and were also told by a bouncer that no one was allowed to leave until after midnight. So basically, I paid a ridiculous amount of money just to look back and frown upon this place. This was recommended to me by a former DJ of Venu's.. but this place has obviously gone downhill since he's been there. I'm hoping they improve their so-called "themed" events. read more

I do like this Club alot... its very pricey but i think that keeps the clientele a certain way and keeps out the scum... its a upscale place i think where you need to wear dressier clothes... the music was phenomenal and the HUGE projector screen with the videos was awesome too! they played a mix of top 40 with old school stuff mixed in periodically... good stuff! its REALLY HOT in there tho, like NO AC i swear! what am i paying so much for if there's no AC... sweaty people will bump up on you and you WILL be grossed out! but oh well its a club , it's the norm there is another room which was Latin type music .. the decor was cool in that room... it was cooler in there too... there are bars placed all around the club which was nice to move around and yet your still by a bar... This place is official. If you're looking to dance to a vast array of genres, then this is the spot. If you're cheap, don't go out much, or only like bars, then stay away. They don't accept anything but passport if you are not from the usa. But once you enter you have fun, it's a nice place

Decided to go the other night.. lots of angry international students.. apparently bouncers weren't taking anything but passports from them and let's face it, I wouldn't bring my passport out in public with me either. Saw some underage girls get in (I only know because they were talking about it in line). Lots of people didn't get in that night I heard. Saw a bouncer cut up a girl's fake ID, laughed in her face, ripped it up and threw it on the street. Didn't try to intervene, that sucks for the girl though. Line was super long, must have been some event going on. Paid $20 to get in. There was barely anybody inside. Decent music. Must not be a very popular place to go. read more

****My review of Wednesday Latin Gay Night**** So being the good hag that I am I went to Venu for latin gay night. Princess and I first met because of our mutual obsession over latin men and he decided he wanted to go grind on a bunch of em in this club. I figured hell why not. At least they will be hot. So we get there and it is packed and there is some big scene going on at the door because some guy thinks they are letting too many girls in. Whatever dude, you know the scene, y'all got a hag in tow. I was not prepared for this scene at all. Not too much shocks me but this place was out of control. I would say close to 70% of the people where half naked, totally soaked and in one giant grinding heap on the tiny dancefloor. I push my way to the bar and the drinks are actually really good. My friend dives in the pile and starts shaking his groove thing. He is one of the those guys that people make room for him to dance he is that good so I start pounding drinks and enjoy the show that is dudes trying to hit on him. Then out come the gogo dancers. I wasn't too impressed. I know the point isn't supposed to be that they can dance but they sucked and they weren't all that hot. By closing I had been groped in the bathroom as well which seems to be common place here and I was ready to go home. My friend had a good time but I think once was enough for me. read more

*MUST READ* This place really deserves 0 stars. I have only been here once, and this was my experience: - CREDIT CARD FRAUD: I paid with my credit card at the bar, and left a cash tip. A few days later I saw they charged $10 dollars more. Apparently the bartender altered the voucher as if I had also left a credit card tip. When I called to see what happened, I spoke with a manager named Matt. He literally acted as if this was normal here and his solution was to dispute it with my bank, instead of issuing a refund like most places. - The place was full of college kids. - I saw a bouncer push and shake a girl that was on the stage (she was a friend of the DJ). This was unnecessary use of force on a LADY! The girl left crying from the humiliation. - For the quality and ambient, drinks are too expensive (not worth it). - At the end of the night, there was a promoter screaming in Spanish "get the f*** out of here, I want to go home". Great way to treat your customers, right? Use them and later dispose of them. - The cover is not worth it. SUMMARY: The place is not worth it. Wouldn't go back here ever... Not even if it was free open bar. read more

Horrible decision to come here... On the website under frequently asked questions it states that "for most events there is no cover" which I thought was strange for the location, but I was baffled when we were met at the door with a $30 dollar cover! I tried to speak to the general manager about the false advertising and he got defensive in a similar way a child does when you ask them to eat their vegetables, I work in the industry and have never seen behavior like this from a GM. He patronized me claiming that "there is no way it says that on the website" repeating it over and over again, I showed him exactly where it is written and his response was "Yeah, it says for EVENTS", but if you went under the event section that night was listed as such... We had just walked into the club 2 min prior and he refused to refund us our money, which we would have ended up spending in the club anyways, but now we will never frequent there again and will definitely never give another dollar to this tiny, over packed, club where the bartenders have no idea how to make the simplest of drinks and charge ridiculous prices. Usually the top priority for most venues is to keep guests satisfied and coming back, but this place clearly just wants to rip you off good one time and then boot you out the door. And it's clear that most of the positive reviews written on here were written by staff. The club goers are far from classy, and the "DJ" might as well have been a playlist and a laptop sporadically changing from house, to hip hop, to bad Latin music without any sort of consistency. Only positive was the door staff that seemed to carry themselves with much more professionalism than the GM. read more

I went to venu nightclub with my boyfriend, and we payed extra for VIP tickets. This includes a booth and two drinks, but when we got there the booths were not reserved with names, so two very drunk individuals took our seat which they then proceeded to throw up on. The staff did not care about the premium we paid for a nice evening out as long as they got they were still making money. The staff was rude, the drinks were over priced, and the bar was not well stocked. Overall, we ended up having a nice night out and making the best of the situation. The music was good and the bar tenders were friendly, but I would not go back or recommend it to my friends. read more

This place sucks, they charged my credit card money for something I did not buy and I didn't even leave a open tab to see where the mistake would happen and no one has reached back out to me. Had a decent time with friends for a birthday on Saturday night, but have been trying since then to have someone check the lost and found! After a ridiculous game of phone tag I am still without my license and have yet to speak to one staff member who even has access to the lost and found box! I know it's my fault for being a drunk and dropping it in the first place, but is it too much to ask for a little customer service?? read more

I am a creature of habit who tends to frequent clubs that usually only play house music. However, a friend of mine came and visited me last Saturday and she is not a house music fan so I did some research through friends who had been there (and Yelp) and decided to take her to Venu for both of our first times. We got there I believe it was between 10:45-11pm and there wasn't really much of a line as far as I can remember. HUGE DOWNFALL: As a female, if you don't put your name on their guest list at least 24 hours in advance, you have to pay $25 instead of their reduced price of $15 (I think guys normally pay $25 but don't quote me). We had put our names on their guest list a couple hours in advance but it wasn't enough time for them to have processed our request. The club itself is fairly large, with two rooms for dancing. One of them plays mostly hip-hop with some house and the other room played latino/latin house music I think. I think the drinks were pretty expensive too but someone bought me one so who knows? Overall, I had a pretty good time here except for the fact that my wallet wasn't very happy with the cover charge. Some people would probably call this club "ratchet" and I wouldn't disagree with them. However, I enjoy getting ratchet every once in a while so I didn't mind. I probably wouldn't come here every weekend though. read more

Very interesting event to share, Venu happens to be a so called fun club in Boston celebrating India's Independence Day and sharing the venue withe usual club. They have a dress code and people wearing Batik shirt, (national dress of Indonesia) shorts and sandal are not allowed as it does not match with the high class dress code. All you do there is listen to music, dance and drink .. not sure how "black tie dress code actually matter" the guard actually said check out his shoes it's not a formal dress shoe.( the guy was wearing a regular strapped sandal) last time I checked it was summer in Boston ... & people came to celebrate India's Independence Day .. I was dragged here on a saturday and I really was excited about it, but OMG! I couldn't move in there. Don't go in, go far away from this place. It was all wrong before we got in. First, they kicked my friend out of the line because they assumed he was drunk when he's just naturally loud. 2nd the bouncers do not have command of the line, they have to yell the same stuff over and over again to get their point across. So it's just a constant back in forth from the crowd and the bouncers. 3rd depending on when you get there, you have to wait extra and let the table folks get in (which they wanted their money). 4th once you're in, they heard you like cattle up stairs and it's just mad chaos, and by this time you're like I'm almost ready to go. 5th they make everyone pay, even women pay $25, only unless you're on the guest list and military you get a whooping $5 off. 6th the DJ sucks, he plays only hits from like the last year or two and then 3 songs that's on the radio today. The Latin Dj plays mostly reggaeton (on a side note, they need new hits, tired of the same songs from like 10 years ago). 7th, the drinks are overly priced, girly mixed drinks were $14. 8th they shove all the people they can in there and it's gets buck nasty packed where you end up dancing with everyone by force and the passage ways are blocked. Major fire hazard, I thought about calling the Fire Marshall myself because this place blows so much. The only good thing is that I was there with my friends that were able to get in and the club goers were dressed to impress for the most part. Would I ever go again, heck no and I hope no one else go either until management is changed. Wish I could give this place 0 stars. read more
