Stay away from this place if you don't like dealing with HOAs. We rented a place maybe 30 feet from the water and when we got there, we got quite the list of rules that says that walking through someone's yard is trespassing. First off, the ONLY reason we rented this was because it was very close and was advertised as such. Secondly, maybe if you didn't want people walking through someone's "yard" (glorified trailer park), maybe you should add some space in between each lot instead of cramming everything as close as you can together. We were also told there would be a dryer and washer, nope. The least they could do is at least get different TV mounts because it was an absolute pain to connect anything to the HDMI port. If you want to live here, eh... If you came here for a vacation, be prepared to be disappointed. read more

Carol and I enjoyed a slow afternoon eBike ride touring Venture Out, its homes, sites and waterways facing the Gulf of Florida. What a truly lovely place way out of your price range, lol! Our full hookup site was clean, well maintained with a beautiful cement patio and gravel driveway surrounded by shady palm trees and tropical plants. The only negative to our time in paradise was our young working neighbors in 307 whose dog howled to all hours on several occasions plus the blaring evening rap music ruined any possibility of a peaceful evening on the patio. read more

Upon arrival, you must pay $107 gate fee, in addition to your rv site rental cost of $110 or more. Waterfront rv site was spacious with a lovely view. We had to clean up dog poop and trash upon arrival. Ants are prolific. The waterfront sites are on the channel so we had to pull fishing lines in constantly. Trash pick up is sketchy at best. We ended up having to take 4 days worth to their overflowing dumpsters. Office was unresponsive when we called. They have unreasonable rules regarding dog walking. They are only permitted to walk down the middle of the black asphalt road. They cannot go near foliage. They can only use your site or walk out the front gate which was 3/4 of a mile. The entire place is rocks so not friendly to dog feet or relief. Zero tv or wifi. Restaurants are seasonal and may or may not be open. We enjoyed the Overseas Trail and road several miles for lunches. Bang for the buck, not so much. read more

My husband and I rented a lot for our RV for the months of November and December. We were right on the water and enjoyed spectacular views of the ocean, complete with beautiful fish, nurse sharks and manatees. While there, we were faced with a tropical storm/hurricane and were told to evacuate. Word to the wise - always make sure you have a plan. We travel all over the United States in our line of work (with our two dogs) and stay in many RV parks. This was the first park we stayed in that was not at all dog friendly. You're not allowed to walk your dogs in the park. You have to take your dog out the front gate and walk him/her along the shoulder of the road. This can be a challenge if you're not close to the gate. We ended up renting a golf cart for our stay so we could transport our dogs out of the park each time they needed a walk. We had a small collapsible pool for our dogs to cool off during the day - not allowed. We also had a small collapsible dog pen to let the dogs lay outside while we were out there with them - also not allowed. I'm not sure why - if it's an aesthetic issue, they should probably be addressing some of the other lots with their tacky yard decor and piles of junk laying around. The pool is nice. If you're up for a relaxing morning swim, you might want to time it so that you don't interfere with the local ladies swimming lesson/gossip hour from 9-10. The hot tub is nice - when it's up & running. Most of the employees at the guard gate are friendly and helpful. The employees at the store are also very friendly. The employees at the office and "post office" - not so much. They could definitely use some customer service training. The locals are generally nice. The price of the rentals is a bit high for what you get. The homes are either manufactured houses on pillars or old trailers. The RV lots are fairly priced. The laundry facilities are nice enough, but could definitely use some updating. Washers and dryers seem to be out of commission a lot. The showers are clean and decent. If you're planning on staying any length of time, be sure to obtain their encyclopedia of rules beforehand. You'll also want to be added to their google group discussion board so you can stay informed of all the local park politics. There are owners who live here full time that would prefer no renters in the park, and I believe they are the same ones who continue to add to the rules/restrictions - just my humble opinion. Overall we had an adequate stay, but won't visit again due to the overwhelming amount of restrictions/rules and lack of dog-friendliness. read more

This is not a resort. It looks and feels like a trailer park. The staff at the entrance (an older white lady) was super rude and absolutely unprofessional in her conduct. All the public access areas - recreation room, tennis/paddle ball courts and restrooms were dirty and littered. read more

I have been staying at this resort well over 15 years, I have never had a problem up until this day that I was scheduled to stay for my birthday the first week of October 2018. Everything went fine with the reservation and thank goodness that I opted to purchase the trip insurance. When we first got down there it was prior to check in I was aware that check in was at 4 PM but I figured I would try to check in early maybe they would let me, they did. When I got the keys to the trailer we went in it look like a hostile, urine and feces in the toilets what look like semen stains on the bedsheets bedbugs ants and roaches everywhere. They had roach traps in active areas where a small child which my party consisted of two small children could've easily grab the trap and put it in their mouth they were so accessible and there were so many of them. I wanted I spoke to management the first response was well check-in is not until four you shouldn't be in there anyways, my response to her was yes I understand the check in is at four but it's not my fault that they let me and just like you go to another hotel and if the room is ready before four they let you win. She assured me that by the time 4 PM rolled around that the room would be clean and everything would be perfect we drove down to Key West we're going to go have lunch. On my way back up to venture out resort I get news that my great aunt is in the last moments of death and my grandmother has just died. I asked to speak to the manager so she comes and speaks to me and I told her that we weren't going to be checking in and I explain to her why her response was "lucky for you right "she showed no sympathy and brushed me off. And I'm so happy that the trip insurance refunded me my full amount of my reservation. I do not recommend venture out The place is disgusting and sells false advertisement, and their management it's a palling how disgustingly rude and unprofessional they are. read more

We bought an RV lot here last year and we were so excited to come here. We should have checked before hand because there are sssooo many restrictions here, I cannot recommend it. If you have a dog, you cannot let the dog go to the bathroom unless you take him or her out of the park and onto the main road and I will tell you that at least 30% or more of people here have dogs. There is no dog park even close to here and it is hard to believe that there is not a reserved area here where you can unleash your pet and let him/her play!! There is NO spot for them to walk or run and if you make the slightest mistake taking your dog where he/she cannot go, the security guards (Vance in my case) shows up and intimidates you as to where you live and then instructs you to take the dog outside the park. I read below in another review that Vance has done this to other people here as well and had a woman and her young son arrested for using a beach ball in the pool. What kind of a park has rules where you can't even walk a dog? Also, the power washer for the boats is broken most of the time and we had to rent a power washer from Home Depot to wash the bottom of our boat which has to be done every 3-4 weeks. Additionally, the pool was closed multiple times for cleaning and wasn't open for weeks at a time. When the pool was open you have another whole set of rules there. Fortunately, the location of the park is great with it's proximity to Key West but just beware of all the rules here. I would not recommend buying until you at least rent here one season. Just as an FYI, most all of the local restaurants are dog friendly and you can take your pet with you. read more

Misleading price on the Internet for four nights. We signed up for $75 a night plus tax. On the receipt, there was another $75 added to the credit card for a "booking fee" plus $100 for a deposit. Then, when we arrived, we were charged another $107 for "guest reservation fee." Our off season, less expensive stay ended up costing more than $120 a night. They are not pet friendly, requiring you to walk your pet to the front gate to pee and poop outside the campground property. We were a LONG way from the front gate. My family and I had a wonderful time here! Everyone was very nice and the pool was outstanding! Very clean and very safe community. The only thing preventing a 5 star rating is the pool lights were broken so the pool closed early. read more

If I was able to give this place less than one star I would!!!! WORST "RV RESORT" I have ever stayed at!!! I absolutely hate this place!! We have called and emailed several times before driving over 16 hours to make sure they can accommodate our large motor home and vehicle.. When we arrived the security guard was mean and ordered me to get out of my vehicle and I have to check in. My husband was then forced to go park by himself and the lady supposedly was helping him left. We eventually even though he is a really good backer hit the new sewer and water line/spickit which scratched our motor home. They have been so so rude and trying to fit us in this site that is not made for our motor home size. They have now left us to go do some "thinking!!" They are trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. And we do not know what to do!!! It is almost Christmas and we have no where to stay. But the last place on earth I would want to stay is here!!!! If it was up to me we would leave immediately and expect a full refund and the cost to cover our damages from their stupid lot that is not maintained and not suited for a over forty foot RV!!!! HATE THESE PEOPLE AND THIS PLACE!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!! If you want to stay in the keys Blue Water RV Resort is the place to go!! Just make sure you can book your trip to the keys in advance (about a year) to make sure you can get a good RV Resort and good accommodations! Worst Place Ever!! Have stayed here several times- each time worst that the last. Should have learned my lesson. Upon arrival the placed was a mess. Dirty dishes in the kitchen. Sheets were filthy and had been slept in. Someone else's hair and blood stains on the sheets- disgusting!!! When the sheets were removed, the mattress pad/cover was torn and dirty. The outside smelled of sewage/waste as the RV drain house to the septic tank/sewage line was broken. The whole place is dated. The advertise all these amenities, yet you cannot access the tennis courts/basketball courts for use. The security personnel are ridiculous as well. You cannot have a bottle of water near the pool yet you can light up a cigarette and smoke???? Waterfront Keys Realty is also terrible. They change/cancel your reservation at their discretion. Never again! I can't imagine how a resort could so completely ruin the beauty of the keys, but Venture Out has managed to concrete over anything natural. All that cement also breeds hostile "security" guards that bark orders and demand your site number before speaking to you. Special Note: if you have a dog/s, stay away! This place is full of crabby seniors that seem to hate dogs and there are no accommodations for dogs. In fact, they prefer you drive your dog outside the resort rather than walk to the lame roadside they call the pet area. read more

I lived here for a year while working in key west. Overall, a very nice spot with friendly neighbors and gorgeous pool. My recommendation is, if you have any interactions with the security gate, TAKE THEIR NAMES and be sure to save receipts. I have purchased overnight parking passes twice for guests. The first time, they charged my friends for the pass I had already paid for. The second time was because of arriving late from a concert. Although I paid $5 for the pass, they apparently gave my guest someone else's day pass. When we got home, his car had been immobilized. The guard argued that the pass I showed her was not a parking permit and demanded a receipt. She apparently thought it was more likely that a long term renter would try to cheat them out of $5 ,than that any of them might have made a mistake. She said I would have to pay $25 to get the boot off. As we continued to discuss, I happened to find the parking pass taped to the window where the gal who sold it to me said it would be. So finally, they freed my friends car. The guards think like robots, keep telling you the same things over and over and unable to think. read more
