We couldn't due to flights, work, and pet care already arranged. He then informed us he needed to cancel our final night due to "maintenance," but refused to explain what the maintenance was or consider rescheduling it. They did book us another hotel for the final night, which was nice, but it was about $100 less per night than what we originally paid, the room was much smaller and didn't have any of the amenities we had originally paid for-and we were not refunded the difference. We were required to check out at 11 AM (only extended to 1 PM after I asked twice), even though the new hotel's check-in wasn't until 3 PM. I had to arrange early check-in myself to avoid being stranded in Key West with luggage. We also had to pay for our own transportation and lost a large part of our afternoon packing and relocating. No apology or gesture of goodwill was offered. Further, despite being given a 1pm check out, the owner started calling me at 12:30pm asking if we were out yet, making us feel rushed and adding another layer of unhospitality to our experience. He THEN told me to be sure to leave a tip! Are you kidding? Additionally, the hand soap in the bathroom was watered down, and most concerning, the private pool deck -- one of the main reasons we booked -- was severely caving in and felt unsafe to walk on. I'm attaching photos of that. We were not informed of its condition before we booked. I've since requested a partial refund (50% of the final night) due to the inconvenience and price difference, but the owner has not responded to my emails or text.

They were not willing to give us anything for not having their rental property ready. Well here's a list of everything else wrong (other than the condescending office who tries to gaslight you when you ask them about the property being ready at the contracted time?? Why is it not ready at 430 when you told me Check in was at 4??) There is a hot tub in the back but half the jets aren't working and it's infested with mosquitos. There is no bug spray provided so I suggest you bring some. The carpet looks raggedy. They might vacuum it but I don't know how often they really clean it. The place looks like it needs renovations like 8 years ago. The laundry machine outside is nice to have. Just make sure your shots are all up to date. It's ruiuuuusssty. And if you have any issues with the place...too bad. The front office will do anything but own up to their mistake. We stayed at "Hemingway's View".

Bull shit! It was more than MINOR they were working on the roof, jackhammering concrete under the building & both stairways were being worked with jackhammers which we had to use we're not cleaned up and full of concrete dust etc. It was so loud we had to go out to the balcony to make phone calls & even then it was loud. We were advised the day before we got there that the elevator had stopped working & would not be available when we arrived the following day. Was advised to knock on the office door to see if someone was available to assist us, we arrived after 6pm no one around. Had to carry luggage up 4 flights of stairs to our room. Was told they were waiting on a part & it would be fixed the following day. That was a lie we ran into another guest who had been there already for about a week & was told it had been out since they arrived. We drove back by on Monday this was after we had checked out & the elevator still was out of order. We found other reviews from a week prior to our arrival & the elevator was out then as well. Was informed that the pool may experience temporary closures starting Wednesday (10/11) through Saturday (10/14). The pool closures are expected to be temporary while they are performing roof work with the pool reopening in the afternoons. Was not opened when promised it was not uncovered at all Thursday night or on Friday & the so called tiki bar HAHA!! was never opened either, That's a big joke! We had to drive past there on Sat & Sun to get down to Duval St & neither the pool or the tiki bar was opened. Door entrance to our condo needed attention no deadbolt & a big gap between the door & wall easy for someone to break in. Upon Our one and only less than a day stay, we found our sliding doors to the porch were left unlocked and one of them was actually cracked open WTH! Over half the parking lot was taken over by construction equipment & a dumpster, parking was horrible & not enough spaces for everyone that was staying there to park! We were told construction would be between 8am-8pm, umm no it started at 7am backing up work trucks & cleaning out the dumpster. We booked in Dec 2022 & there is no way the host had just found out right before our arrival. This would have been scheduled months before the work began! We checked in on 10/12 after 6pm left by 3:30 Pm Friday with a massive migraine there is no way anyone could relax & have fun with all the banging & jackhammers going none stop! The host should have gave us a full refund but refused! Not even there for 24 hrs! And had to find other accommodation! I loved the heated pool and the jacuzzi, and the large open-air dining table outside on the large patio. Even though each bedroom has its own bathroom, everyone's favorite place to get clean was the outdoor shower - just watch out for the iguanas above in the trees. Kevin - or "Key West Kevin" as my friend Carla N. calls him - was a great host and check-in and check-out were a breeze. Especially the check-out. As our taxi pulled up to take us to the Key West Hideaways office before delivering us to the airport, Kevin appeared and took our keys so we didn't have to make the extra stop. Saved some cash and time and were able to enjoy a relaxing cocktail pre-flight.

Internet doesn't work and he refused to fix it. We spent $2100 on 3 nights and it was the worst vacation rental experience of my life. He refused to give us any money back.
