This is an excellent faciality - I ended up breaking my wrist and hand three weeks ago and was directed to come to Ventura Orthopedics by my primary care physician to have my wrist casted. There were many patients in the waiting room, and I had come in unannounced. The two people that arranged for me to be seen immediately were Maria and also Luz. They were fabulous and saw how bad my wrist was swollen and went out of their way to make sure I was seen that day. This was later in the afternoon as well on a Monday, so I was so grateful to them both as I was upset and concerned about the broken wrist. I was seen by a wonderful Physician Assistant Emily Sim who impressed me with her warmth and understanding and knowledge as she spent time with me and assured me that all would be fine, and I would be put into a cast for healing. Imagine injuring your knee to the point where you are going to have a FULL KNEE REPLACEMENT, and you have to begin the process of seeing doctors! God forbid! But in this case, the "experts" are there for you to visit. Right? Wrong! This group (Ventura Orthopedics) of INCOMPETENT IMBECILES has got to be The Stupidest bunch of people out there, dealing w/ patients today! Unbelievable incompetence! After the agony of suffering tearing EVERYTIHNG POSSIBLE in my knee, I made the mistake of letting Community Memorial Healthcare (Ugh, the worst....) REFER me to a Dr. Mark Ghilarducci. (I lost count whatever JOKE this guy is in this story...), He comes in, does his perfunctory little routine, ending w/ "you're going to require a Full Reconstruction of the Right Knee....and we'll get you started on PT, and you'll f/u w/ me in a month or two!" My wife and I leave, thinking this guy's got it goin' on, and maybe we can stick w/ these guys? Nope. After scheduling two months worth of PT, the very next day one of their staff calls telling me that they no longer accept my insurance! Typical. America the "GRATE" sucks too. So I have to go back to my PCP. (A child that they gave a certificate to, but has to get an "okay" from anybody else before doing ANYTHING at all!). I have to wait for them to refer me to somebody else. It's all a waiting game. By the time I get another referral to another QUACK, and this idiot is worse than the first one... I could have driven to Tj and back and gotten healed already!!!!! Then V.O. Calls me back, telling me that the clinic doesn't accept my insurance, but Dr. G does, and he would like to continue w/ my treatment. Great. We make an appointment. We keep the appointment . Only to be told, by the Dr. himself, that they are no longer going to see/treat me, due to the insurance mess! Those of you who are dumb enough to even call this place, don't say you weren't warned. I am being seen as a workers compensation patient. My doctor seems like he is being paid to say whatever the insurance company wants him to say. I have an MRI that shows a torn rotator cuff and a torn bicep tendon. My doctors first radically and un factual statement was that if he did an MRI on every person in America that over 70% of them would have a torn rotator cuff and not know it. (This is a lie that he would like me to believe because he is a doctor) I question the medical staff with one important question, Will a rotator cuff tear or bicep tendon tear heal on their own, the answer I received is no it will not heal without a surgery, temporary pain relief may be felt with a cortisol Steroid shot but it is temporary relief. I had to give consent to get this shot and here's what I can tell you, it is painful, side effects I experienced included a weird taste in my mouth, upset stomach, nausea, approximately four hours later I had bad diarrhea and lastly, my blood sugar was elevated over 50% higher than its highest peak I had experienced in the last 30 days. I made a brief video including my blood pressure meter readings for the last month and documented all side effects so I can advise my doctor. I have heard and read both positive and negative reviews about this practice, if you were coming here on Worker's Comp. beware, this facility will attempt to put you through physical therapy even if you just completed all physical therapy sessions previously allowed by the workers comp adjuster. This type of practice wants to book as many in office Internet work visits as possible with corporate greed being the driving factor. Patient's Wellness, healing time, and severity of injury or pain is no concern. Workers compensation patient's should avoid the practice at all costs. read more

I am writing this review for my mother-in-law. She was seen by Dr. Deitel on 11/24/21 at 8:30 am. She had a horrific experience with this doctor which compelled me write this on her behalf. The moment he came into the room, he tells her "Do you know who I am, I'm a surgeon. Why are you here?" Then proceeds to belittle my mother-in-law about her weight and activity level which she is already in physical therapy for, and by no means obese. She was referred to him by her PCP and also made it clear that she did not want surgery, so NO, she does not know who YOU are! That's why she is seeing you. I don't care if you are the best surgeon this world has ever known, you DO NOT treat your patients like this. Awful doctor that mistreats his patients, especially ones that can not advocate for themselves! She was referred to this specialist in need of care. She does not want nor desire pain medication but rather further insight into her debilitating back problems. A caring doctor should make their patients feel welcome, safe and cared for. This doctor was rude, condescending and left her feeling helpless. I truly hope they see this review and attempt to change their patient care approach to one of compassion. The first thing I'd like to say, is that I have never left a negative review in my life. In general, I don't leave reviews. I'm a working mom who is a mental health provider (psychotherapist) , so time is limited for things like this. And normally I just don't care enough. BUT with that being said...I am taking the time today...because I don't think I've ever encountered SUCH a lack of professionalism and bombastic attitude from a doctor. I went in for lower back pain and a pea sized lump on the middle of my spine. Dr.Deitel basically told me to spit it out ("what was wrong with my back?!!") as my baby was hysterical. I know babies crying stress everyone out, but the ironic part was he told me how he didn't understand people's impatience with it ("as he was a father to three"). But absolutely steam rolled me as I struggled to articulate my issues, because his intensity and pressured speech at 8,000 miles a minute...would throw anyone off. I left with a physical therapy referral (which I could have just taken myself) and little to no knowledge of what was going on and dismissal that there was any bump on my spine. Which both my partner and friend (who is a doctor) asked me to get checked. The star was for the kind nurses who brought my baby a stuffed animal-who were wonderful and kind. I am so tired of narcissistic male doctors who leave patients feeling unheard and dismissed. In the words of Pink Floyd, "Run, run run run run run run run run run run!" Let me put it this way.......I would rather have an amputation than go back to this place. Honest to God truth.....I'm pretty sure you would get better medical care at Forest Lawn than this place...... I went in to see Dr. Dietel for chronic back pain. He was tardy to the appointment (which, from what I read, is his MO), and then made the determination of my condition without even looking at the Xray. Long story short, my condition worsened rapidly, and I ended up being taken via ambulance to the hospital for a 9-day stay and spinal surgery (not done by him, thank God). When I was initially admitted, Dr. Dietel first refused to come and visit for prognosis, despite a request from the attending at the hospital. When he finally showed up, his statement was, "You cannot be in that much pain." I had to remind him I was unable to walk........when my wife asked what the next steps were, he said, "I don't know," and just walked away. Like I said, I would rather have an amputation than to step foot in his office ever again. His PA Lisa was the only bright spot in the whole misadventure....... read more

I made an appointment today at Ventura Orthopedics and was assigned to meet with Dr. Deitel. The office staff was professional and efficient. Dr. Deitel on the other other hand was not. He spoke over me, was half way out of the room while I was still answering his question, and showed no interest in understanding the history of my back pain. He spoke at me, rapidly, and was quite impatient. If you read some of the other patient reviews, they had a similar experience. I've been in there countless times with my family and these front office girls look upset and it doesn't seem like a great work environment. I have been seeing Dr. Thai Vu at the Ventura Orthopedic's Oxnard office. He is a very impressive young man. He has impeccable patient empathy and gave me a sense that he was very knowledgeable and up to date on his ability to diagnose and prescribe what is needed to rectify the patient's problem. I very much appreciated that Dr. Vu was very conservative in his approach to my treatment program. He laid out a "game plan" for my treatment that began with the least invasive method first. He is kind, listens (and asks questions that denote his listening), and he is quite knowledgeable. I highly recommend Dr. Thai Vu! read more

I've been treating with Dr. Deitel for a back injury. He referred me to a neighbor for Chiropractic care. The chiropractor treated everyone the same regardless of injury, so there was no relief from his treatment. Dr. Deitel said he's been sending thousands of dollars in care to this guy and never gets updates from him. I've asked Dr. Deitel several times for help because I'm in a great deal of pain. I asked if there was anything he could do and basically said once you're done with pt I will have to dismiss you from care. I had so much better care and empathy from the urgent care doctor I originally saw for this injury. Today, after again pleading for his help, he dismissed me, said there's nothing else he can do, and walked out of the examination room while I was still talking to him. Said, I guess I'm done and with his back still turned, walking away, just said you can make an appointment on your way out! Some bedside manner. I went out to my car and cried. Needless to say. My Son recently suffered a knee injury in High School football. There is some connection with the high schools locally sending patients to this service. I am a 100% disabled veteran, this means, because of my sacrifices and injuries my children are afforded medical insurance called CHAMPVA. We went to the front office, the person checking us in was sure they took my insurance but once she doubled checked I was told that the dr will not accept as it does not pay much. Of course we left upset only to sit in the ER for a few hours. Later I was contacted via text by the billing manager (Sonia G) whom was to deliver the confirmation that it was not the doctors accepted. With that being said, she mentioned that they were not contracted with Champva and that she had made contact with the insurance to confirm. This is false! If she did contact them she would have been told that our insurance is not contracted with any medical facility in the country, in fact, it is a service rendered and billed to them with out referrals or prior approval. This is a facility defiantly focused on the amount of money they can take then the care of others. I would not recommend anyone to attempt utilize this facility. read more

F this place. Stay far away. Everything about this organization is terrible. From the front desk staff, to the appointment coordinators, to the billing department, to the Doctor that we had, to their phone and computer system, etc., etc. Just absolutely terrible. The first visit for my son's wrist problems from Baseball went well. Doctor was attentive, helpful and took his time, but didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. Prescribed an anti-inflammatory for tendonitis in his left wrist, and said let's wait and see about the cyst on his right wrist. I was very hopeful they would be able to help out and do surgery on the cyst if it continued to be a problem. FFWD a year, and the cyst in my son's wrist continued to be a problem. It kept getting bigger then popping, and coming back after 2-3 months. After the 3rd or 4th time of it coming back and causing him pain in that timeframe, we decided to get it removed. So we went back to get it taken care of once and for all via surgery. We scheduled an appt. with the same Doctor, and he was over 30 minutes late to our appointment. Then he demanded to have an X-ray even though I told him and all his staff that it was not necessary. After the results came back and showed there were no bone problems (DUH!!), he was rude and condescending, instead of being apologetic like he should have been. Then he completely rushed us out acting like my son was being a baby, and telling us his cyst was too small to detect. He said that we would need to get an MRI to be able to detect it for surgery. What a joke. These people are F'in scammers!!! I could see and feel his cyst, and we did NOT need an MRI. They just wanted to charge us extra money for the x-rays and an unnecessary MRI. I can smell a rat from a mile away, so I decided to cancel the MRI appointment, and try to find a better Doctor, that wasn't just going to try to gouge me for every possible cent that he could. But that wasn't the end of it. These idiots somehow screwed up our address between the first and second appointments, and sent the bill for the second visit to the wrong address. It's hard to pay a bill that you never receive, (I think they did it on purpose) so the Fsticks sent me to collections. And guess what, they tried to charge me for the MRI that we never had!!! After the collections company called me, I told them I never received a bill, and asked what address it was sent it to, and found out they sent it to an address in Camarillo instead of Port Hueneme!! How do you make that kind of mistake? There is no street in Camarillo with the same name as the street we live on in Port Hueneme. So obviously, I contested the bill and 3-4 months later, they sent me a new bill for $133, instead of $400 something, and I paid it. Guess what? They just sent me another copy of the same bill after I paid it over 3 weeks ago. They tried to do the same thing with the first visit. I paid it electronically, and they still sent me another bill. F'in money-grubbing crooks!! I am thinking about consulting a lawyer to see if there is any legal action I can take against them. read more

My physician referred me to Dr. Deitel for an injury to my lower back that put me in the hospital. Dr. Deitel barged into the room (no courtesy knock) looked at my ex-ray and said, "I'm a surgeon and you don't need surgery." He then spread his arms out lazily across the desk and said, "I can refer you to a pain doctor." followed by a very sarcastic smile. I asked if I could get a cortisone shot. He flatly said, "No." without explaining why that wasn't an option for me. He repeated, "I can refer you to a pain doctor." this time, sticking his neck out and over-emphasizing his sarcastic smile. I declined as I am already taking 800 mg of Tylenol for the pain. He said okay and walked out the door. I followed him to the desk outside of the room. He sat down facing the opposite direction, completely ignoring me so I asked, "Am I okay to leave?" (wondering if there was a checkout process for co-pay or anything. He said, "Yes, you are." Flatly and rudely. In front of the other staff who were now listening in I said, "I'm sorry for wasting your time!" I cannot imagine this jerk operating on people! In my brief encounter with him, I can tell you he cares for no one and nothing! read more

I injured my knee on Sunday 5/7. I went to Ventura orthopedics on Monday 5/8. Dr Ghilarducci thinks I tore my meniscus, but he needs the MRI to confirm, which needs to be approved by my insurance. Today is Friday 5/12. I contacted my insurance to get an update on the authorization. They NEVER received the request because, according to Christina at Ventura Orthopedics, they did not submit the request to my insurance since they don't have enough people to process the paperwork. Meanwhile I've been in pain all week with my knee hurting. I need to do my MRI to know what's going on with my knee. This is unacceptable! Can someone take care of this ASAP! read more

After several consultations with other doctors, including SCOI, we decided on Dr Timothy Rearick with Ventura Ortho. He did a great job. We are so happy we found him. read more

I have had two hip replacement surgeries done by Dr. Hofer and rebab with Sandy Sipe. They are both extraordinary. They were totally successful and from not being able to walk, totally bent over, dragging myself with a walker I can now walk upright and do most things I want to (though still working on getting stronger). I am truly as they say, "Back in the game!" I also want to say that their entire organization is a real class act, from the people who do scheduling, various people who help--including the physical therapy assistants--they were all incredible. read more

I do not recommend Ventura Orthopedics PT. I am new to the area and have a diagnosis of lipedema with Ehlers Danlos. I had two surgeries in eight weeks and the last surgery was in February. My doctor prescribed ASTYM because it really helped after my first surgery. I've waited for three weeks for my initial appointment at 8 AM in the morning. I was just notified that they were cancelling my appointment. Really? The person that called me said, we don't have anyone who treats lymphedema. I replied, I don't have lymphedema I have lipedema.... my guess is that the therapist doesn't even know what it is and clearly this business needs to do some research so that they are aware of this fat disorder with connective tissue issues. I'm grateful for the cancellation because I don't want anyone working on me who doesn't know what they're doing. Go elsewhere if you need PT or ASTYM. I will be going back to Vargo Physical Therapy because they know what they're doing. It will be worth the drive! read more

I am disappointed about the rude approach of the front desk staff. In particular Antonia R, at the front/scheduling, who refused to give out her last name was mean and disrespectful, canceled my morning appointment upon my late arrival and was giving her attitude about rescheduling. They do not offer electronic paperwork to complete prior to initial appointment. Instead, they have a pen bin labeled as "dirty" for used pens. They require masks, and would not provide services or a complimentary mask if you are a new patient. read more

I almost never post negative reviews but my experience was not good. I went in because of tendinitis and all I wanted was a prescription for physical therapy. The doctor refused to see me unless I would get an xray first. I said, if the doctor even sees me for even one minute and explains why he would do an xray without examining me first, I would do it. But no, that was not how they work. Every site I go to says there is very likely no need for an xray. Here is a quote from the Mayo clinic site: "Usually, your doctor can diagnose tendinitis during the physical exam alone. Your doctor may order X-rays or other imaging tests if it's necessary to rule out other conditions that may be causing your signs and symptoms." If he had told me there were other things to rule out I would have agreed. I have had this before and the symptoms are the same. The following is from a well known orthopedic web site: "Your physician will first ask you about whether you have any underlying health conditions because an underlying condition frequently causes or radiates as pain. The doctor will then ask you about when the pain started, what activity preceded the symptoms, and what the pain feels like. The physician will then ask about what treatments you've had in the past for similar symptoms, what you've been taking to treat the pain, and whether you have had an injury or surgery in the same area. Other possible questions include when the area hurts most and what you have been doing to provide relief." (none of this happened to me) PHYSICAL EXAMINATION The next step in the process of diagnosis is that your doctor will check for signs of infection, such as redness and swelling. The physician will use their hands to feel the skin at the painful area, check for physical symptoms, and determine whether the injury is limiting your range of motion in that joint. The doctor will likely ask you to move that joint so they can evaluate your ability to move it. The physical examination rules out other conditions such as bursitis, which is inflammation of the bursae sacs around the joint. But I had no exam and to order an xray before seeing a patient seems very wrong to me. If he had seen me and then said he wanted one, without it being automatic, I would have done it. But it seems like a way to get money when you do it on every patient without any justifiable reason. Xrays don't show ligaments or tendons. I never fell or injured my arm. So I will never go back to this place. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before going to see Dr. Deitel. After having spine surgery in 2017 by a competent Orthopedic surgeon, my insurance changed. I started have thoracic spine pain that was getting more severe, and decided it was time to find a doctor in my network to investigate the cause. Unfortunately I ended up at Ventura Orthopedic seeing Dr. Deitel. I have never felt less listened to by a doctor in my life. He insisted I have a thoracic spine X-ray before even seeing me, and then after hearing who did my cervical spine surgery sent me back to get an X-ray of my neck so he could "see the other doctor's work". He literally talked about himself the entire time I was with him, and when I tried to talk about how I felt he would cut me off. The most ridiculous thing was the rushed 2 minute exam that he did before giving me a PT order and telling me to call him if I didn't feel better in a month. I was in that office from 9am to 11:30am for what felt like absolutely nothing and charged for 2 separate X-rays that could've been done together. Avoid Dr. Deitel at all costs! He cares more about himself than he patients for sure! read more

Dr. Deitel is an incompetent, rude, and unstable doctor. He presents like a mad scientist in a disorganized and vicious manner. To say he in unprofessional is an understatement. During one visit the computer system was down and he took some notes with what appeared to be a magic marker. He did not even physically examine me at the the last two visits for a spinal injury and then told me he was dismissing me from worker's comp. treatment. He had a poor physicians assistant trainee with him who looked horrified. He is literally the worst doctor I have ever come across in all of my life. Read the other reviews regarding this man and run the other way. If you are forced to see him I highly recommend asking for a second opinion as I truly think he is unable to competently treat patients. If i could give this negative stars, I would. Dr Deitel is the worst Dr I have ever seen. I have never had such a bad experience in my life. He is arrogant, rude, condescending, and extremely belittling. I have been having severe back and neck pain for months and done x-rays and lots of chiropractic work. It's gotten worse and i knew it was time to get an MRI. he refused to give me one saying "I don't just got around and hand those out". It doesn't matter how much pain i tell him I'm in, he doesn't care. He said an MRI will not fix the problem, (but getting an MRI will show what the problem is!!) I left the doctors office in tears. I am appalled by the way he treated me. He wouldn't let me get a word in the whole time, and the second i mentioned I went to a chiropractor, it's like he became super prideful and kept saying how stupid they are. That they don't know what's wrong with me. But neither does he! All i wanted was an order for an MRI. I am so beyond frustrated and will never use Ventura Orthopedic again. My dad was seen by Dr. Zemen twice for a fractured knee he was then seen by the PA. The MA and X-ray techs and PA were always very nice and very professionals. The only part I have a huge problem with was the front office staff. At first we were always greeted by a very polite lady and very helpful. The last time my dad was seen was the worst. There were two different girls at the reception area very rude. I asked if it was possible for me to go back to the room with my dad and all I got was her rolling her eyes followed by "talk to the MA" I think her name was Brie. As soon as you arrive you were in front of this person who never bothered to say "good morning" or just smile. I emailed the "manager" Veronica to complain about this person and I never got a response from Her. The insurance company has now been waiting for a report from Dr. Zeman since December. read more

Good doctors, been happy overall with Dr. Deitel. Did a good job on my surgery, but it can be difficult to get a hold of someone in his office in a short time frame as he works out of multiple offices throughout the week. I fault the understaffed and overworked medical infrastructure of this country. Additionally, 1 star for front office staff. They are rude, and act as though their actions are above reproach. Try smiling or even using the common niceties such as "please" and "thank you". You work in a professional setting, the least you can do is act like a sincere professional. Nearly everyone that comes in here is in pain, have some compassion and try to be aware of how you speak to people and how it could be interpreted. read more

I have upgraded my review because Dr. Gluck called me personally to apologize but that doesn't excuse the ambivalent woman who sits at the desk outside his suite of offices - presumably one of his assistants. I walked out of Gluck's office because I was tired of waiting. I had been there nearly an hour (not counting the 30 minutes I spent in the waiting room filling out forms, even though the forms took a total of 10 minutes to fill out) Some people need to work for a living, and my time is money, too. I understand things happen that cause doctors to run behind schedule, but I simply can't leave my own staff unattended that long, hoping a doctor will show up. Worse, there was no one in the waiting room in Gluck's suite of offices. NO ONE. So it wasn't busy. That was even more disconcerting, because the place felt abandoned. I did see one person in a white coat, which I later realized was Gluck, enter another room. But it was otherwise silent. When I informed Ambivalent Girl that I couldn't wait any longer, she couldn't have cared less. Nice work ethic! That incensed me even more. So I left because 1) I had to get to work, 2) Ambivalent Girl didn't care 3) I had no clue when the doctor might materialize.
