I have worked only with Dr. Bloom's associate, Dr. Nguyen. He had a very difficult case to take on with 7 brain and cervical surgeries and damage very deep and aggressive in the neck and head. I am extremely grateful to him as he has stepped up to the plate to correct, as best possible per the CDC, the lack of care I had previously and that left me for dead. Dr. Nguyen has been present at my appointments and re-opened the door to some quality of life. Unfortunately, the damage done via my previous pain doc, by ignoring the results of required MRI's and my pleas for help, Dr. Nguyen was dealt a heavy hand. Because earlier detection was ignored, there is only so much he can do. But he is doing it nonetheless. Pain patients will be assisted greatly by Dr. Nguyen as well as an upcoming hand book entitled "Pain Dismissed" to be published 2024 iwhich will assist them in how best to navigate potentially treacherous territory amidst the regulations assigned by the CDC, wherein ALL pain is treated the same regardless of their injuries and resultant pain. I hope this review provides for hope for others. There are still a few good doctors out there but be sure that an MD is going to be present at your appointments before you sign on as, otherwise, you can easily land in a life and death situation without proper help aboard. read more

My experience has ONLY to do with the office staff here. Also know the doctors do not respond to these ratings. The OFFICE girls do and are even rude with their responses. My life the last many years with chronic pain hasn't been easy. Nobody would understand that who has not experienced chronic pain themselves. I had to have 4 surgeries in the 3 years. 2 of them were in the last 5 months for a precancerous condition. I had to reschedule my SI Joint injection a few times, because you have to space your anesthesia apart and I had to have these 2 surgeries immediately. When I called 1 week before my scheduled SI joint injection to see if I could postpone it a few days due to my back being out and I physically could not move, Stephanie was unbelievably rude to me. I was on speaker. I had a friend sitting next to me who had been helping me. Stephanie rudely responded "you've rescheduled like 6 times already." I told her I've had to have many surgeries and I've only rescheduled for those reasons. She then rudely responded "I have to put you on hold." It went dead silent and we thought we were on hold, so my friend looked at me and said "what a b***h." Immediately Stephanie said "I heard that! You just called me the "B" word and I'm telling my boss and I'm hanging up on you!" First of all, I never said it, second of all, neither of us would ever say that for anyone to hear! We are kind, respectful people. We were supposed to have been put on hold. Not a "fake" hold. My friend was just speaking her thoughts to me. Especially because she knows all the hell I have been going through. That's how rude Stephanie was being. Before she hung up on me I was trying to say "wait! Let me explain." I called back and tried to speak with her and explain my friend said that to me not ever meaning for Stephanie to hear it. I spoke with Paula, the manager. I was pouring my heart out crying, apologizing, and sending my apologies to her from my friend as well, who said it not ever meaning for her to hear that. I explained how desperate I was to get my SI joint infection from Dr Phillip Nguyen. My last one gave me 2 months of living without pain. She said she'd call me back that day and she didn't. I called again the next day. Paula told me they would not accept me as a patient anymore. I truly do not think Dr Nguyen knew about "their" decision. No matter what response is given on here, it will be the office girls and most likely false information. Everything I state is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I decided to call the surgical center and they were so nice. I even told them about the situation I had with the office girls. They said I was still on the surgical schedule and to come. So that morning I called the surgical center to confirm. They said I was on the schedule. My mom was on her way to pick me up and Paula that manager called me and said "you are not to go to your surgery! You are off the schedule! We are calling the surgery center to make sure of it." And that's what they did. I truly don't think Dr Phillip Nguyen decided himself not to take me as a patient. The office girls did everything in their power to keep me from getting my injection. If they only knew the pain I endure every day of my life. Stopping someone from getting pain relief because of lack of forgiveness is sad. It's obvious this office is run with a true lack of empathy. The reviews speak for themselves. The negative reviews are mostly about the front desk staff. Their responses to patient's reviews are vile. Remember, it's them responding, not the doctors. If you are able to get past the rudeness of the office staff, I would truly recommend Dr Phillip Nguyen for pain management. Meanwhile I have to start over with referrals and waiting months for appointments because of the lack of forgiveness and empathy here. For something that I personally didn't say or my friend meant for her to hear. I hope those girls never have to experience chronic pain like I have. I will find a way to get a hold of Dr Nguyen and tell him my story. read more

Worst experience at a doc's office. Front desk is rude, It's worse over the phone! They can't answer questions, give attitude when canceling an appointment do to an emergency, rudely tells you have to call 24 hours in advance (they're closed on Sundays) and IT WAS A LAST MINUTE EMERGENCY, still gabe attitude. Then hangs Up on me in the middle of my sentence trying to reschedule. Find a more professional place to do business. read more

I went there the doctor didn't seem to care and the girls in front desk keep harassing me constantly calling me cause I have a bill which they didn't do much for me to get this high of a bill. Then I told them I can't pay them right now and they said why not why can't you pay right now I said I have too much to pay and they still call and that is harassment there rude and I don't recommend this place at all. I just ended up blocking them on my phone. I just can't with harassment. And that they didn't say they can work with me with payments or anything they said to pay now. I've also noticed that I read some of the reviews and Dr. Bloom answers with a remark of "it is unfortunate that yelp block most of our 5 star reviews." That is weird, why would they block most the 5 star reviews? At that he answers with an as* hole remark. I said I was having a hard time, doesn't mean you need to have your assistant call and harass people. I am in the process of contacting the Medical Board of California about this treatment I have received! read more

I've seen Dr. Bloom multiple times and have always felt like he truly listened and took the time to talk to me like an actual human being and help solve my pain vs just prescribing something to mask it. I have recommended him to multiple people and everyone has only had amazing things to say. A lot of the bad reviews are about him being booked out for long periods. He's a specialized profession and just like anyone else they book out weeks in advance. I'm a bit confused as to why people would leave a bad review because of that. Is your pain or your loved one's pain more important than the other patients whose appointments are ahead of yours? I've waited 2-3 months for multiple different appointments so not sure why they are assuming this doctor would just be able to magically have openings whenever they need them. I've been seeing Dr. Bloom & Dr. Nguyen since early 2023. They understand that extreme, debilitating pain cannot wait! Unlike my insurer, EVERY appt is scheduled timely & I feel so cared for. I was a depressed, hot mess before finding Dr. Bloom & Dr. Nguyen! I'm a 72 year old female. I've had 2 Ablation procedures (Jan 2024 & Jan 2025), several PRP treatments (lower back: extreme to moderate deteriorating disks) and regular, timely steroid injections (torn Rotator Cuff). Dr. Bloom's goal was to to reduce my pain by 50%, BUT, I feel so much better than that! More like 80%! It's been like a miracle for me. Yes, it's taken some time, but I'm back to doing laundry, cooking and most joyfully, I'm back in my KAYAK, tooling around our local harbor! Our insurer won't cover these outside expenses. But even though we are on fixed income the charges are not unreasonable and SO, SO WELL WORTH THE COSTS! I'm convinced that Dr. Bloom & Co. are the best doctors to treat extreme pain. THEY NEVER GIVE UP (like my crappy insurer)! Please, DON'T HESITATE to contact these incredible doctors if you want to improve your quality of life. I liked Dr. Bloom and his front office staff, but I tried to, after Dr. Bloom entered the exam room in what seemed to be a grumpy mood. I talked to him a little to soften the mood and it seemed to work a bit. The nerve conduction test was fine; got results that I expected... so all good and typical, with that. And his front office staff was friendly and professional, as one should expect. I don't like having to agree with what others have noticed and mentioned in their reviews... Dr. Bloom does not have the best bedside manner. That aside, he performed the nerve conduction test competently and discussed a bit about the procedure with me, as he did it. There aren't many providers in my area for this type of testing, so it's not easy to be picky, especially when there's a need. Bottom line, I'd still go back for additional services... I'd just know not to expect the most friendly banter with the doctor, and I'd try to avoid triggering the type of response that others experienced. read more

My son was referred to this office through his MediCal provider. He fractured his Tibia and has a pain level of 6-8 and higher during movement. I called to make an appointment and was given first available of over ONE month away. Are they joking! Pain doesn't wait a month to be relieved, it needs it NOW. I actually laughed as if she was kidding with me. But no, she was dead serious. I pleaded with her to no avail and received no sympathy, no empathy, no alternative assistance, not even any consoling. At first I was really happy with Dr. Bloom. I felt like he really listened to me and validated my chronic neck pain. After he treated me with botox, I let 3 or 4 months pass to see if my pain improved. When it didn't and I returned to him, he was incredibly brusque and rude and essentially accused me of lying. He told me to go see a physical therapist (which I have done regularly for years and still do). I was very disappointed with the way I was treated and never returned. It's really a shame because I wish that he had been able to help me, as I'm still having chronic pain in my jaw and neck. Dr. Bloom responded here that I asked him multiple times for narcotic pain meds which is an absolute fabrication. It's really sad that someone who would blatantly lie about his patients is allowed to practice medicine. Good thing there are medical records that show this accusation to be completely false. read more

Dr. Bloom is so thorough and extremely caring, Explains things so clearly. He is just a great doctor absolutely. His staff is also great. Biggest thing that stands out for me, is Dr. Bloom really shows how much he cares, he listens tentatively and really hears what you're saying. read more

A very bad experience. I cried during the first few seconds of an EMG nerve conduction study and Dr. Bloom stopped the test and refused to conduct the remainder of it. He acted in a demeaning way toward me, asking me "You think you can do this test? I don't." A good doctor would be willing to work with their patient and meet them where they are at to get the test they need done. There was none of this, no pausing to discuss the procedure. Zero provider-patient collaboration. The appointment left me feeling hopeless about resolving my nerve issue. read more

I had my first appointment today which will be my last. I showed up for my appointment 15 minutes early and I was taken back into my appointment room almost 40 minutes late. No apology no explanation. The appointment was very abrupt. The doctor left the room towards the end of the appointment to consult with another physician he returned, gave an explanation. I then asked a clarifying question to which doctor Bloom got defensive with me, and got upset because he felt I was not understanding him And told me I was becoming defensive for asking a question when I explained to him I was just confused and asking for clarification. He then proceeded to get more upset and tell me he was not going to deal with me. This was all over a simple question. When I then further said to him that I thought he was being ridiculous, because I was just asking a question, he then told me he was not going to deal with me, turned around and picked up his stuff and walked out of the room and shut the door and never came back to the appointment. This does not strike me as the type of person who should be any type of doctor or any professional for that matter. He strikes me as the type of person who is very narcissistic and probably should not be working with people. I have already contacted my primary who referred me and had words with him. I would never in 1 million years refer anyone to Dr. Bloom he's not only a terrible doctor is a horrible human being. read more

Dr. Bloom is a great doctor. I went through Sepsis and my entire right side of the body got Rhabdomyolysis. He injected Botox into my arm to help open my hand . It is amazing that my hand started opening up just after three weeks. It took about eight weeks to fully open. We are going back to get Botox in my leg for the same thing.
