After having severe back surgeary Ashwood work out a plan to help be get back into shape. Not only did my strength improve, but I found that the type of exercises that I was doing grealy improved my agility. I can so grateful to the staff of experts at Ashwood. From the front door and the help with paper work and scheduling to the therapy area, Ashwood and the staff really helped get me back in shape. Having 12 screws, a plate, 2 rods and 3 artifical vertibrabe replaced I didn't think I would get be all the movement, energy and strength I needed. I was a patient at Ashwood PT from August of 2020-December 2020 recovering from a triple comminuted fracture in my right foot and ankle. The treatment, attention, and service I received from Kellie at the front to Ryan and his team in the back was nothing short of excellent. I was approved for 12 visits for my back. Tomorrow will be my last visit and the staff there are the best! They know their work, they are very personable, and they stick right with you so you are able to do your physical therapy properly or they will adjust it for your comfort until your able. Hopefully I will never have to have physical therapy again, but I will always come back here. It's never overcrowded. Your wait time is just minutes. And your truly greeted with ver friendly people. My mother Diana Lopez has just completed her therapy for her tendinitis shoulder. At first she was very reluctant to have physical therapy. She mistakenly thought that it would only cause more pain so for nine months she underwent sleepless nights inability to dry her hair, reach up for items on high shelves or carry anything heavy. My first impression was very good and my follow-up visits just got better. Great staff, extremely attentive, great service and they talked me thru many of the procedures which helped me understand my therapy and goals. Sam is great - he really took his time to personally get to know me and my needs. Ming Hui is the most supportive and encouraging assistant I've ever met - always pushing me to get to my goals and putting a smile on my face as I do it. Immersion into aquatic therapy seemed useful as I aimed to learn the full set of movement sequences as offered, then practice diligently on my own time, in warm water footsteps from my home. However the overarching experience with this clinic in California was perplexing at best and at times toxic. Therapist I was paired with apparently no longer works there, so I won't elaborate on worst moments with him. I will suggest that anyone new to PT take a careful look at what is really being offered and what is not. Check whether a clinic is set up to put a patient with an aide or student nearly 100% of the time, as the therapist doesn't want anything to do with that patient.  If/when the therapist engages, does he seem to be having a conversation with his inner pathologist-scholar, rather than directly with a living, breathing person? Does he disparage patient while failing to take into account known anomalies the patient struggles with? Does he fail to ever touch patient? PT is PHYSICAL therapy--not an esoteric discipline of viewing only from a distance! Why avoid touch, month upon month upon month? If clinic owner/doctor had bothered with a hands-on exam, the day of initial consultation, would the clinic have avoided the mistake of recording the wrong side of body for injured area--an error soon caught by patient in an electronic record, but getting clinic owner to take a moment to correct data that flowed to insurer drags on and on: 8 months and counting. What's up with that? Does aide lose track of observing movement sequences, allowing patient to go on with wrong movements, not just once but again during next session? When patient finally raises questions during 3rd session and  aide or student still fails to articulate correction, fails to give proactive guidance, while therapist shows zero interest in checking in with patient--what's up with that? When patient inadvertently skips two sequences and then realizes the newbie-aide failed to notice--she's chit-chatting across the pool, not even glancing toward patient--what's up with that? Then when patient improvises because strangers on pool deck have taken the device needed for a final sequence, while aide chit-chats on other side of pool, oblivious--what then?  After improvising with a different device, patient has problems arise that night, next day, next several days. Is it any surprise a patient feels nobody cares and clinic is off-track in service delivery, ot living up to value-proposition? Has (former) patient switched from telling colleagues about this clinic as a place for aquatic therapy plus land-based therapy, and instead urges colleagues to look elsewhere? read more

Sam and his staff are so welcoming, professional and really help clients feel comfortable from the moment we walk in the door through all phases of physical therapy. Their aquatic program provides personal, custom-designed exercises and one-on-one coaching through all the exercises. Everyone is so positive and encouraging and it's a joy to go to PT. I have used the services of 3 physical therapists over the last 5 years. Ashwood is the best. They are professional, competent and really care about your progress. Having had problems with the other firms, I was understandably concerned when I first went to them (at the recommendation of my surgeon). I need not have worried; the entire staff is great, striking a balance between pushing me and not overdoing it. I recommend them highly. read more

I would not recommend Ashwood Physical Therapy. Despite the convenience of their location and the kindness of all of the staff, my experience here was characterized by low-quality physical therapy. I am a runner and I have had a number of very positive experiences with physical therapy but, from what I gleaned, this office is not oriented to pro-actively identifying and solving the root of problems. The PT with whom I worked did not seem confident in her knowledge. She was passive about treatment and, as I later learned, actually misinformed me about a number of physiological details. She was reticent to answer questions, such as identifying parts of the related musculature, and when I continued to ask about ways I could pro-actively improve. Further, the front office staff wanted to schedule more appointments with me before I had even seen the PT once--how would they know what the appropriate treatment plan was? The aides seemed fairly unprofessional. (I asked one if we could double-check with the PT about where she wanted me iced and, when the aide returned, she said in a sing-song voice, "I was right. La-la-la-la.") And, again, the PT seemed disengaged, perhaps under-educated, and not truly committed to patient care. (She told the aide to give me some exercises to do that, in fact, were only further exacerbating the issue. When I brought this up and asked to please not do those, she agreed that I was probably right.) Again, everyone in this office was perfectly nice. But, if you are an individual, like me, who really wants to do everything you can to right a physical problem, I know from experience that there are other physical offices that will provide better care and empower you, through attention and knowledge. read more

First time doing aqua therapy. Sam was great. He was right there beside me all the way. He said I would be sore a couple of day afterwards and boy was he correct. The front desk ladies made me feel welcome the moment I walked into their office. I would highly recommend this for aqua-therapy.
