Recently I have had physical therapy on my left shoulder at the facility. While the experience started out well it ended very poorly. My number one concern with this Physical Therapy facility is that they use barely licensed assistant physical therapists to do the work of a fully licensed therapist 80% of the time. Some licensed as little as 3 weeks. In my case the physical therapist was great, but the supportive help was less than professional. They never took any background information from me. Consequently, on one occasion I was asked to lie on a narrow foam roller to stretch out my shoulder. The exercise injured my existing bulging disc condition. That last straw was their front desk person on my last appointment was rude and referred to my race in a derogatory way as "You People" want everything handed to you. I left the facility and defacto fired them. I got a call from Mr. Swanner who instead of talking it out in his words "uninvited me" to complete my therapy for raising my voice to the front desk person. Super discriminating behavior! If you are Hispanic, I would advise you not to go there. read more

I have been a construction worker and firefighter for most of my adult life. I have had countless minor injuries as well as 6 major surgeries over the years. Swanner PT has helped me heal from all of these. The therapists are top notch. They stay educated on any new info available to help their patients. Always with a smile and sense of humor. The techs are friendly and hard working. There is no better front office person in any business I have ever dealt with. She's a miracle worker. The entire operation is amazing. It's a family atmosphere. Super clean. As much time as I have spent in there, it sometimes seems like Swanner PT is helping or has helped most of Ojai get back to their lives. As grueling as PT can sometimes be, they always keep it fun and welcoming. They treat people of all ages and even have bilingual staff. Anyone who leaves less than a five star review for Swanner PT may benefit from a different kind of therapy than physical therapy, if you know what I mean...Using this platform to post hurtful lies about such a great organization is just sad. This is not aimed at the Physical Therapists, necessarily, because I assume they are following the company rules. But they spend more time entering data on their computer, than with me. They say, do 10 reps, 2x, then they walk to their computer, not monitoring if I am doing it correctly. Then I have to yell, NEXT. It's rude and makes me feel like I'm not treated as a human being. Because I tend to overdo it and no one was watching, I overloaded myself. I understand that everything needs to be documented, but maybe set aside 10 minutes AFTER working with me to be on the computer. read more

As I said in another review, I had a total knee replacement and had gone to Balance. Balance was a waste of my recuperation time. After about 4 weeks, I called my doc and asked him to fax orders to Swanner. My PT sessions at Swanner last at least an hour. (Balance was 20 - 25 minutes) They just don't bend my knee while my muscles are cold - they put warming blankets on it first, massage it and gently bend it. Towards the end, they push it - but not right away. They asked me specifically what I did at home (Balance never did) and modified my workout. Dan noticed I was a little weak in my hips and were working on exercises to strengthen my hips as well as my quads and calves. Can't recommend them highly enough. read more

Several months ago my doctors, examined my various"(mostly motorcycle-related) physical compaints and told me that I had cervical stenosis, torn meniscus and some other issues . My doctor recommended that rather immediately seek surgery, I first look to physical therapy. I.spoke with several friends and they all recommended I go to Swanner Physical Therapy. I was a bit doubtful that pt would work for me but I'm glad to acknowledge I was wrong. After the initial; 4 weeks of physical therapy focused specifically on my issues and concerns, virtually all of my issues were in the process of resolution. Swanner therapists (who clearly enjoy their jobs) . work both individually with you and, as makes sense, as a team. They are not only excellent therapists but excellent teachers and help you understand the reason for the particular therapies you are using. They are encouraging, professional, pleasant, client- focused possess excellency professional skills and check on progress often and and modify the therapy as required.The facilities are well organized, well equipped and complete. . The staff are uniformly friendly and caring. Thanks to Swanner I feel much better than I have in years and I can still ride my motorcycle. Without hesitation I highly recommend Swanner for physical therapy. read more

Terrible experience ! This is my second time trying Swanner. After working with 2 other local PT facilities here in Ojai and being a medical professional myself, I know what good PT is and the treatment here is so substandard. The therapist shows me an exercise, says, "do 2 reps of 12" and then walks away to the table in the center of the room with his back to me! I had to call out when I was done. No supervision, no help to make sure I was doing it correctly. At the end of the appointment I asked him why my appointment was only 30 minutes and he said we will start off slow. Ok. 12:30 maybe he wanted to go to lunch. It was always 1 hour before. Then I asked why he walked away and why didn't he stay with me, coach me and make sure I was doing the therapy correctly. I even told him that this was my experience with other PT I've received. I can do this at home by myself watching a video I told him His answer was dismissive. Alex at B- - - - - - e coached me for the whole appointment, through every exercise and made little corrections to my technique along the way He even watched me walk outside up and down steps and how I moved in and out of my car! I was hopeful after my initial 1 hour evaluation with Dan which was excellent I will pay the out of network co-pay which is $30 more for better treatment I'm not sure who the owner is but I plan on talking to him. Very impressed today as I went in for help with back issues. Everything running smoothly, pleasant atmosphere. I was nervous going into a strange place for the first time, felt shy. I was so happy to discover that the luck of the draw connected me with Joanna, who is a former employer, from before COVID lockdown. I knew her slightly on the home front as I was their petsitter, and now I am blown away to meet her in her professional capacity. What a pro! I'm VERY THANKFUL for her kind, sweet, very take charge manner, which is what is needed as we are also taking charge of our health, through physiotherapy. Thanks Swanner's! read more

29 yr old active young professional with a history of injuries. After 3 months of chronic piriformis spasms and sciatic pain I finally decided to make the journey from Marina del Rey to Swanner Physical Therapy in Ojai, CA. 4 short sessions later and the pain is finally gone allowing me to sleep well and jump back into my day-to-day routine. As an aging boomer, I seem to have numerous issues which, lucky for me, mostly occur one at a time. There are a number of excellent PT offices in Ojai, but I began using Swanner a few years ago and never looked back. I always feel respected there and am pleased primarily because whatever the current malady is, I know I will get better, and I always do. I find the staff to be personable and knowledgeable and it is clear that they enjoy coming to work because year after year, they stay and don't leave (except the aides who are often students who leave to attend graduate school outside the valley). I know uninsured people who were given extraordinarily good rates so it is clear, that this business is not out to pocket your last dollar. I recommend Swanner Physical Therapy. read more

Good staff but the air conditioning in the building didn't work so I went elsewhere for PT.

After two phone contacts, and two evaluative treatments my assessment is: The trainers are great, but the main receptionist has issues. In three phone chats over a year period, I learned the receptionist to be both rude and disrespectful. When I followed up on an evaluative treatment she claimed -1)They did not have the results 2) They did not take Veterans cases 3) I had made a 'scene' during my first visit [of which I have no clue] 4)I should start over/go elsewhere... I'm a disabled Veteran in need of aqua therapy, and Swanner's to my knowledge, offers the only aqua therapy in the Ojai Valley. For me to be treated so rudely and abruptly by this receptionist, only to have her turn me away, not only totally baffles me....it is exactly the opposite of what I desire/need as I'm seeking healing/therapy....To win her agenda, she won't put through my requests to speak with the owner or explain why... First, she said, 'We don't take VA cases.' Then she said, I caused a 'scene'. You tell me, would you seek therapy at a place where the receptionist who interrupts you in mid sentence(when you have a simple question), claims you were a disturbance(of which you have no idea), hangs up on you after she's vented her attitude, and ultimately cuts off any attempts at resolution/requests to speak with owner? Her demeanor was particularly hurtful above and beyond a simple 'we don't want you here', which compounded an already depressive issue...The idea of me hoping to have found the one aqua therapy site within the area, and to have hope for therapy, only to be so angrily dealt with....has me completely offended. Is it that I'm a 'man'? as one friend familiar with her and the business speculated. Is it that I'm a 'Veteran'? I don't know.
