This was my second time going to Ventana Nail and Spa. My first visit was great, which is why I came back and honestly thought I had found my new go-to nail salon since they're close to home and I like supporting newer businesses.
This time, though, my experience was really disappointing.
I went in for a pedicure as a little Mother's Day treat and was just trying to relax, play Animal Crossing on my Nintendo Switch, and enjoy some me time. During the pedicure, the technician cut the corner of my big toe with the cuticle cutter. It started bleeding, and instead of saying anything, she kind of tried to hide it by holding pressure on it and wiping the blood away with the towel.
At first I couldn't fully tell what happened since I wasn't really paying close attention to my feet, but the way the technician was acting definitely made me a little suspicious. Later, when she sprayed something on my toe before the polish, it stung BAD and that's when I looked down and saw the cut and blood. I said, "Ouch, that hurts, that cut stings," and she just brushed the area off and kept going without acknowledging it or apologizing.
I'm not a confrontational person, so I didn't want to make a scene. I figured I'd just mention it at the front when I paid since they always ask how the service was.
When I brought it up to the girls at the front desk, the one checking me out quietly said, "Oh no," and asked where on my toe I had been cut. She came around the desk to look at it, softly said, "Oh, sorry," and then continued charging me full price like normal. I wasn't expecting a free service or anything, but I do feel like the situation could've been handled a lot better. Even just sincerely acknowledging it or offering a small gesture would've gone a long way.
Honestly, the cut itself wasn't even the main issue because accidents happen. It was more the fact that it felt ignored the entire time. Being cut is one thing, but trying to hide it, not acknowledging it during the service, and then brushing it off afterward was just upsetting.
I've never not tipped before, but I just didn't feel right tipping after being cut, having it brushed off, and then leaving feeling unheard. I still honestly feel guilty about that because that's not something I normally do.
Really bummed because my first experience was so good and I truly wanted this place to be my regular salon. Ventana Nail and Spa, please do better when it comes to handling customer concerns. read more
