If it were possible to leave zero stars... or even a review in the negatives... this review would be getting a NEGATIVE 10 out of 5 stars.
My girlies and I were invited to go out last night to Vendome, by a promoter here in Miami, Jesse Timmons (jesse.the.dream on Instagram).
One of my girlies is in a wheelchair from a spinal chord injury she had 3 years ago. Mind you, Jesse the promoter is well aware of this. Not only does he know us, we've gone out with him before, and he even asked us for pictures of each of us again before even confirming our spots at his table. He knew about the wheelchair.
He tells us to arrive EARLY. we get there at 11 and we're the first 3 girls in line. We check in with him and hold our spots in line.
We are waiting in line for about an hour!! An hour!! Before finally a promoter comes over to let us know that they won't have the space for my friend. I explain that if it's a space issue she can transfer to the booth and we can remove the chair. There was a simple solution if it was truly about space. But it wasn't. It was about discrimination.
My other friend and I argued with several different promoters, bouncers, and she even spoke to the owner.
They simply refused to let my friend in.
Never. Ever. EVER. Have we experienced this type of discrimination from the clubs in Miami. We all go out together almost every single weekend. We go out all over Miami and she gets the most special treatment ANYWHERE else we go out!!! Our experiences at other clubs with her have been that they treat her like a VIP. They let her cut the line, they let her in for free, they help escort her to the front of the club. We've even had security carry her up stairs when the venues are inaccessible.
To be turned down from a club after she got ready with her friends and went out and waited in line for an hour at the FRONT of the line!! It's so absurd. It's damn near 2022 and Vendome is discriminating against differently abled bodies?!?
I recommend going out anywhere but here. Miami is full of amazing spots to go out, with amazing people and amazing vibes. Vendome is just not one of those places. So, might as well not waste your time on this outdated discriminatory venue.
