My wife and I had a great time at "Sip & Salsa" class party at Mango Tropicana! It was well-organized with reserved tables in a separate upstairs lounge w/ our placards on table, and it was nice to know we don't have to keep eye out or keep looking for tables like regular clubs since we don't really drink. Alex our instructor was fun, engaging, and an intelligent instructor that broke the dances down for even beginners to follow easily. We first had bachata lesson at 8pm, followed by complimentary mojito and Cuban bites, then wrapped up with salsa lesson at 9:20pm. I wished salsa lesson was a full hour, followed by more fun salsa dancing with instructor dancing alongside (you know, cuz regular student folks won't keep dancing salsa on their own without pros' boosting presence) because afterwards everyone pretty much stopped dancing salsa after the last song after lesson ended. Then it was regular club time. Good vibe and we had fun. The wristband we got allowed free entry to the club downstairs so we could enjoy the cabaret performance and backstage live music band a bit too. Overall I would recommend Alex and Salsa Mia without any reservation for anyone with an open mind looking to have a good dancing time! Try it - don't be scared as there's no need to be! For the price, it's worth every penny. The instructor was a great guy, worked with students individually as needed, though there were a couple of moves that were a bit too much for me (spinning). I loved the setting - Mango Cafe is a vibrant and fun place - the class takes place in a side room on the second floor. We had 15-20 people, and the space was starting to get tight, but bearable. Appetizers were tasty, and enough for a couple of helpings. For the free drink, they accommodated the request for a virgin mojito. Includes a wristband for Mango Cafe entry after 10:00p (they close at 5:00a). Highly recommend the class, it's a great value. read more

Ambiance was great. Very fun an festive in main floor adult bar area. The dance room area could have used a bit more flair, too closed off and not great ventilation, and very dark. Food was great that we ordered off the menu (ribs, steaks, and sides were very good). The service was OK. When you arrive they are eager to get drink orders and food moving however once they is placed and done they are no where to be found. We did the salsa lessons and the young lady teaching us was very sweet and good at her job. She engaged with everyone. However, we started a bit late and the break in the middle of class seemed a bit too long. Price for class was fine (included drink and snack). Fun for the experience. Came here for girl cousin's weekend when we thought, "hey! We're in Miami, we should salsa!" You show up between 7:30-8, and they have a seat for you in an upper room complete with sign and glow in the dark rings. At 8, we had about a 45 minute bachata class, then a break for mojitos, birthday cake and flatbread (only one kind, nothing to write home about), and then another 45 minute or so salsa lesson. They told us to "uncouple" (easy for our all women group) and for men to grab a different partner periodically. As expected for a venue like this, vast majority were women, some couples refused to uncouple, but they seemed to have some ringers to come in to dance with us. I ended up volunteering myself as a man several times just so we could keep on going. My only suggestion would be that these young ringers show a little more enthusiasm! But it was hugely fun to learn 2 types of dance. The room transformed to hip hop when the classes were over and the music, at least initially, was more pop from the '80s--so very fun!! Background story is that my entire life I have had a fear, crippling fear of being on the dance floor, fear of looking silly, fear of being judged. I have decided to do something for myself and to face the fears. I wad lucky enough to find Alex and Taylor to teach me Salsa dancing. This experience turned out life changing!! In just a few lessons these professionals have eliminated all my life long challenges. I have developed a love for dance, I am comfortable on the dance floor and can't wait to take the next lesson. Taylor and Alex provide a warm and comfortable environment for learning. Group classes are phenomenal ! We get to learn, meet new people, expand our circle of friends. I am a fan for life! My fiancé and I went to Mangoes for the shows and drinks. When there we heard that there are salsa/bachata lessons every night in one of the side bars upstairs. Booking was easy and the lessons were very interactive and tons of fun. The instructors are very lively and make sure you are comfortable and having a great time. Included in our tickets was the lessons, free mojito, and appetizers during our break between the bachata and salsa lessons. We took a salsa class here after reading online that there would also be a place to dance after. Well, sort of. The instructor was friendly and skilled at dancing but the instructing could have been more thorough for those who were struggling. Would have been nice to switch partners too so every person could feel what it's like to dance with someone else as that is what happens when you actually go dance salsa. He was young so lots of time to develop savvy and professionalism. It was an average experience. Mangos on the other hand is wild. It's like a mix of Tijuana, Las Vegas, and Hooters. I booked the Salsa Mia salsa/bachata classes for a bachelorette party recently. Overall it was a really fun experience! Alex our instructor was incredible - very energetic and fun! They gave us a table for our group with a sign to celebrate the bachelorette. As part of the package they gave everyone a Mojito and an appetizer which that day was an empanada. The mojitos were great however empanadas were just ok. Also the empanadas had beef in them which half our party doesn't eat. It was a bummer that they didn't have other options to substitute the beef empanadas with. However the salsa and bachata lessons were awesome and so upbeat! Once the class started you inevitably interact with other groups there also which I enjoyed. However if you're concerned about covid this is not a great activity for you because there are a lot of people in a small space and no one wears a mask. We also ordered food after (they allow you to order before, in between, and after classes). The food here is VERY average and overpriced so come here for the fun vibe and salsa but if you want better food consider going somewhere else for dinner beforehand. Also of note at the time we came about a week ago it was $59 a person but they were offering a discount which brought it down to $54 a person. It looks like they have increased their prices already to $69/person. read more

My friends and I decided this would make the perfect birthday gift for our roommate Alexandra, so we bought a package for five of us to take lessons on Saturday night (Memorial Day weekend). No line, got right in and headed upstairs to the class. The instructor was wonderful and provided excellent guidance on the basics of salsa. The class ran from 8-10 and even though we were a little late it was not a problem. So much fun!! Would highly recommend to both tourists and the locals.. try it! This is way more than a dance class although it is that. You get into Mango's on a Saturday night like a VIP. The place rocks! Our teacher was sooo fun and great at teaching. She is the real thing: Cuban, beautiful, and skilled in dance and teaching. We cannot complement her enough. They fed us and gave us Mojetos till midnight. It is a bargain and we encourage you to take the class, enjoy the company of the other students, learn and practice the dances and just have a wonderful night out. read more

We enjoyed this incredible experience learning the bachata and the salsa. Carlos, our dance instructor and entertainer, welcomed us and helped us dance the night away. His personable demeanor, patience, and encouragement kept us on the dance floor practicing our new moves. Carlos took the time to give personal attention to all of his guests ensuring everyone in the room was having fun! Our server was delightful and attentive bringing my husband plenty of liquid courage! We forgot appetizers were included, and we ordered barbecue wings and mahi tacos. The tacos were a bit spicy for me, but they were so flavorful, especially with the house made salsa. When the appetizers came, we were full, but had to try them anyway. Again, they didn't disappoint. As the dancing lessons were winding down, Bruno arrived allowing Carlos more time to interact with the dancers. Armed with our new dancing skills, we enjoyed more music and dancing in the Mojito Room. We made our way downstairs to watch the live performances. A few weeks ago, my lovely friend R and I booked the 6:30pm session, which was a wise move as we were the only students in the class. Alex and Yamila (sp?) could not have been lovelier or more encouraging. We got the ball rolling with some basic bachata steps and, after complimentary shots, moved on to salsa. We were so sad when the 8pm class started to show up, and couldn't stop talking about how much fun we had during our lesson. Thank you Alex and Yamila! My fiancée and I took a class with Alex at Salsa Mia during our engagement trip to Miami. One of us had some experience and the other was brand new. We were both a bit nervous because we didn't know what to expect. Alex was incredibly welcoming and upbeat when we met him. He clearly has a lot of experience teaching students of all levels because he made the class fun and exciting for the both of us. We asked him to teach us both the cha cha and salsa, and I think he did an incredible job with both. He knew we were newly engaged and made sure to make the experience special. I had to cancel my husband had a seizure that night I didn't call to cancel so I tried to reschedule the next day and instead of going we decided not to because of the nasty phone call from the owner she called just to express her anger because we didn't come last night she said we don't have proper manners and we were ghetto and she never confirmed our reservation for the reschedule because she demanded an apology for not coming before she confirmed our new one. So because I didnt say sorry she hung up the phone on me so I called back because my husband wanted to talk and she answers "what u called to say something else" I didn't apologize because I am not apologizing for taking care of a family emergency before partying. Best salsa and bachata dance class! We recently went on a Friday night and had an absolute blast. You get a lot for what you pay for: bachata and salsa lesson, mojitos, flatbread appetizers, VIP band and entrance throughout the night. We arrived late to the class already learning bachata. Thankfully, my partner and I have rhythm so we caught on quickly. The instructor was lively and amazing. He engaged well with everyone and taught really well. He teaches the basics first, then a short routine that we all have to do. I loved how he had us dance with all the different partners in the class. Afterwards, we drank! The mojitos were beyond good. Not too strong. Appetizers were flatbread and they were decent. After the short break, we started the salsa lesson. Once we learned the basics and routine, the instructor informed us that the class ends at 10pm and the Mojito Room we were in turns into a hip-hop room, which was fun.
