I tried to enjoy it the way I usually do with new places, but the atmosphere felt unpredictable in a way that teenagers or young adults definitely wouldn't enjoy. As I walked around, I kept seeing groups of people arguing loudly or acting in ways that made the environment feel unstable, and it surprised me how often it happened. It wasn't just one moment -- it felt like something concerning was happening every time I turned a corner. What bothered me even more was how poorly monitored the mall seemed. There were areas with almost no staff or security around, which made the whole place feel even more unpredictable. Even the parking lot felt uncomfortable because of the lighting and the people wandering around who didn't seem to be there for shopping. Instead of feeling relaxed, I felt like I had to constantly watch my surroundings, which is the opposite of what a mall should make you feel. I really tried to give Stonewood Center a fair chance, but the longer I stayed, the more I realized I wasn't having any fun at all. I didn't feel safe, I didn't feel comfortable, and I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to teenagers or anyone who wants to enjoy their time without worrying about what might happen around them. I've lived for 24 years, and I've been to plenty of malls, but this was one of the few times where the environment itself felt like the problem. I only visited Stonewood Center once before writing this review, and honestly, that was enough. Because of how unsafe it felt, I'm giving it a 1‑star rating and hoping it improves so people can feel comfortable going there again.

Nice food center addition to Downtown Downey…read more It's mostly restaurants with the exception of CrossFit Downey, Financial Partners Credit Union, and Evolution Hair Salon. As of April 12, 2019, here are the restaurants situated at the Downey Gateway Shopping Center which, by the way, is across the street from the ever famous Porto's: 20/20 Draft House Bluewave Fish Grill Burger City Grill Hummus Factory Milkyway Tea House Noodle World Jr Round Table Pizza Starfish Sushi Stinkin' Crawfish Subway Waba Grill Yogurtland So mostly franchises. Worst parking lot in Downey! Free though.

The 2016 YELP 500, Review #135:…read more I created this entry/entity so that those who are traveling to the area, like myself, can easily figure out everything that is in this shopping center through one entry on Yelp. This helps out a lot when you have a whole bunch of people not from the area and you, perhaps, just come out of the movies. No one is ready to go home yet and everyone is hungry. The first thing you want is to know where to go. The last thing you want to do is Click 50 different places when you don't know the neighborhood. This could lead to frustration if everybody can't get what they want. Now enter the Downey Gateway Yelp entry. Once you read up on it and look at the pictures, you will realize that this place is pretty loaded with variety. From Burgers to Pizza. From Cajun food to sushi and even hummus. From fish to healthy grilled foods and there is even. Something dedicated to your sweet tooth for dessert (or anytime) - a frozen yogurt shop! Oh and we can't forget the other businesses that are not food related, such as Financial Partners, Adalies, Vanity, Allure & CrossFit. So I sincerely hope the Downey Gateway offers everyone something that they love. Sincerely, A guy from Florida that loves this place.

One of the few remaining malls that's still hopping!…read more A large selection of shops of all types. The main areas are kept pretty clean because they have an ample staff of folk, and their food court has a good selection. The value is in the selection of shops, and there's almost no dead/open spots, every shop is filled - all offering deals this time of year.

First thing's first, I'm glad this mall is SINGLE STORY. I don't have to worry about my fear of…read moreheights and it doesn't feel stuffy because it has HIGH ceilings. However... with a single story comes a TON of walking. Be prepared for that! There's a lot of your standard mall stuff here, so it's not worth mentioning about the department stores, but the mall portion is a fine experience. There are lots of clothing stores and dessert places, and there's a movie theater and some nice restaurants, but I will say there's NOT much to do as a fun activity for families with small kids. Older kids will have some things to do like VR or build-a-bear, but smaller kids will not. Food court is fine, there's some good options and I actually like that it's next to the entrance/exit of the mall so you don't have to be "stuck" in a second story hidden area forcing you to walk by stores while getting out of the mall. Standard mall food court options like Sbarro, it's really just a place to hang out. Again, nothing special, but super clean and open space brings this to an average 3/5 for me.

We visit here maybe once a year, as it's out of the way, and the Outlets of Orange are closer, but…read moreyou have to appreciate the fun architecture and atmosphere of this place. I remember first coming here in 2003. They felt like true outlet stores, with heavily discounted merchandise. Today, it feels like a regular-priced mall. And many items are not cheap. For example, I was interested in a pair of jeans, but checked online, and Macy's was cheaper with their current sale! Several places had buy one, get one 50% off, so 25% off total, which you can find at a regular mall. There also used to be a larger variety of stores, especially in housewares. I would say 80% of the stores are now clothing or shoes. There is a Disney Outlet for toys, Samsonite for luggage, and Vitamin World. There are, of course, sunglasses. The food court is OK, but it gets very busy on the weekends. The only real sit-down restaurant is Ruby's. One thing to know: the cell phone reception is REALLY bad! Several locations have free wi-fi for customers, but I found a few required a password. Another not-so-smart thing is that the bathrooms near the food court have only 3 single-use bathrooms! There are larger ones towards the middle of the mall. But near a food court? Come on guys.

The Azalea Regional Shopping Center is a nice development in South Gate on the northwest corner of…read moreFirestone Blvd. & Atlantic Ave. I go here mainly for Blaze, The Habit, Yogurtland, Michael's (it's more organized & cleaner than the one in Downey), Marshalls, Lemon Pop, & Walmart. This Walmart, though, always has a trash whirling around in the parking lot. There are plenty of other stores and restaurants here mainly geared towards families. For the longest time, the parking spots really irked me - particularly those near Blaze, etc. Jaime G. recently posted some pictures saying they repainted the lines to make them larger, but I had to see it to believe it. Sure enough, they have three painted the lines as of 9/15/15! Everyone in South Gate drives a big gnarly truck or an SUV... or they just can't park period, so it was getting pretty frustrating. THANK YOU whoever made the final decision on getting it fixed. Security is usually driving around in a golf cart if you need assistance. Also, they frequently have events, deejays, and little concerts here, etc. It's pretty vibrant for South Gate. I like it. Review #395 Yelp challenge 76/100
