Such great gelato!! I think this was some of the best gelato I tried in all of Italy. I had the pistachio and tiramisu, and the flavors were just perfectly delicious and tasted really natural. The cone was also super yummy. The gelato comes with a small piece of chocolate as well, which is a nice touch.

Menu: chocolates and gelato - Gluttony Expedition - 3.5 stars. I love the all kinds of variety - you can make your own chocolate bag! Many small boxes ones are great for souvenirs because the containers are cute. Though you can find it at the airport, but this one has a gelato, too. I tried different kinds - all good, not crazy good. Not too sweet. - Conqueror's Deduction - It looks good, tastes ok. Good for souvenirs. Very expensive because I had decent chocolates at Coops
WOW. I had about 5 different gelato places while in Italy (all top of the list in Trip Advisor) but Venchi really knocked it out of the park. Amazing flavors, every lick was so rich and satisfying. Must get the pistachio. One of the best gelato places to go to even though it is a chain. Reviews and long lines don't lie, you have to try it!
As far as gelato goes, go with places which make it themselves and don't add food coloring. I look for places where the pistachio is a natural color and not really green. Service was relatively good where you pay first and then they scoop what you want. You have a choice of size, cone or cup, and add ons. We heard about this place from our local guide and am glad we took her suggestion. Doesn't get any better than this.
This is possibly the best ice cream that I ever had in my life. Yes it's really that good. I went back to Venchi a second day to try two more flavors. I had the tiramisu, hazelnut, cappuccino, and pistachio. I highly recommend the hazelnut and pistachio. Flavor is so rich and strong. I absolutely love this place. Service is efficient.
Having only a few stores in the States, Venchi is not well known here. However it is famous chocolatier from Italy. They sell individually wrapped chocolate pieces by weight and gift boxed items as well. I tried a few pieces like cappuccino and tiramisu. They are very creamy and mild. They are also known for their gelato too, which I could not try being too full unfortunately. Their gift boxes are very cute with the designs of Italy/Venice, and anybody receiving them would be happy! They are not too expensive either, prob around the same price range of Godiva. I didn't feel like buying them as souvenirs this time only because I live in Hawaii and chocolates require refrigeration all times. When I bought a fancy chocolate box in Zurich, they all melted once I got back to Hawaii and I was so sad :( But anybody lives in colder climate, this place is the perfect place to get something from Venice.

When you order a special cone (nuts or candies on it), the individual there dips and coats it in front of you! It's a fresh layer of chocolate and candies - that alone would have been worth the wait. In addition to that, there are a ton of flavors (my experience in Italy is you can't taste test, but it's okay, they're all good!) For the cost of 1 scoop, we were able to spilt 2 flavors. I ordered mascarpone and fig, alongside a pistachio gelato. It was picture perfect. A bit different from most US places, you pay at the beginning of the line in front of the ice cream counter before you order your ice cream. The chocolate fountain was also right by the register in this location so don't forget to stay near the fountain if you want to see delicious in action!
I read somewhere that Venchi had the best gelato in Venice and so I made it my mission to get lost down countless winding roads to find this marvelous gelato. Venchi's gelato is good. Yes, very good, BUT let me tell you why it is not worth the journey. Venchi is undoubtedly an excellent quality of gelato, but if you are lodging out of the way, you'll probably pass about 10 other great places with gelato. Venchi isn't any better than any of the others. Secondly, it isn't really located near any other substantial landmarks, so you will get lost looking for it unless you happen to be in the area. Lastly, I found the flavor options to be underwhelming. Also, if you happen to be taking the train out of Venice, there's a smaller one in the train station, so you can try it there, with the same flavors and a smaller retail space.
Great selection of Italian made chocolates and treats. Pay by the weight. You get baggies to fill and there are many kinds of flavors to choose from. There's one for everyone back home so be sure to stop here at their location in Venezia before you leave. They also have gelato and ciocolata calda available! read more
This gelato spot is famous for a reason and doesn't disappoint! You are able to sample as many flavors as you want but they wanted us to pay for our ice cream first. The small has 2 flavors, medium up to 3, and grande up to 4. The chocolate and nuts are an additional charge. We ended up getting the cremino, cappuccino, dark chocolate, and pistachio. Every flavor was so good and complimented each other. Definitely recommend! read more
I have been in love with Venchi since I tried it a few years back in NYC. I have gone back several times and tried almost all their popular flavors as well as their hot chocolate. This time I got to try Venchi in its home country. I was elated when I found out that they were offering a limited edition Extra Virgin Olive Oil flavor so I had to try it. For me Venchi has always been one of the best gelatos when it comes to taste and texture. The EVOO flavor is a must try and I hope they make it permanent on their menu! read more

the server must have been having a really bad day or something because she looked so mad the whole time. i felt so bad even asking her to scoop me ice cream. i was so concerned that i couldn't even remember what the gelato tasted like. but it was probably good read more

Yes! I loved this place! It was exactly what I wanted. Delicious European chocolates. Just grab a bag and start looking at their wall of chocolates and take your pick. I think I got about nine pieces for about 9 Euro. My favorite was definitely the Cremino, which has a layer of white chocolate with almond paste sandwiches between milk chocolate hazelnut gianduja. I definitely tasted the hazelnut more than the almond, but the sweetness of the white chocolate really came through. It was so delicately smooth and melted the moment it hit my mouth. My other favorite was the Truffe Toffee. This one wasn't in the wall, but in the case at the counter. It was rolled in toffee bits and had a soft center. The toffee bits on the outside had this great chew to them - great texture and it didn't break my teeth! Also, this toffee was similar to their caramel, but so much better because of its complexity. It had other layers of flavor - not just sweet. And my other, other favorite was the Crema Caffe. The balance of coffee, chocolate and sweetness was so perfect!! They also offer gelato, which I didn't get to try. But based on the lines, it must be popular! I wish I could just go back for more!! I would definitely visit again the next time I'm in Venice!! read more

Venchi serves up a broad range of chocolates and gelato according to Italian traditional methods using the finest natural ingredients. This was a pleasant find when looking for something sweet. We did try some of their chocolates while in Florence at Eataly. The gelato was really good and the family grabbed little bits of chocolates. We stopped by a couple of times while in Venice. It's was also good to know that is available in Chicago and New York at the Eataly locations. read more

Picture this... Venice... in July... when it's 1000 degrees with a humidity percentage to match the temperature. Also picture 4 North Americans who are used to blasting air conditioning in any store they go into and far less people crowding such tiny thoroughfares! Although Venice is a beautiful city to visit, it can get pretty stinking hot and busy. We went from store to store not interested in what they had to offer, but to find one that met our standards for air conditioning. Then came Venchi. This chain of chocolate/ice cream shops was our first encounter with their products (and their perfectly air conditioned storefront.) All of the chocolates looked appealing. All of the ice cream looked refreshing. It was a win win situation for us. We first walked around and looked at all their chocolates until we were cooled down enough to compose ourselves for which ice cream to order. The store is broken up into 2 rooms, the front room has the ice cream and pre-boxed truffles, the back has the truffles to pick and choose into your own assortment. Due to the heat and the fact that we were still going to look around, we chose not to purchase any chocolate. However, we did choose the ice cream and we all LOVED what we picked. Mine was a true chocolatey bliss! My wife opted for a fruity one that honestly was more refreshing than mine, but I still had no problem inhaling mine. The staff was great. They spoke English, they had smiles on their faces the whole time they helped us, and they were very helpful. Even with a crowded store full of people. Some of the better service we experienced while in Italy. The only drawback is the price. This was an expensive ice cream cone, but seeing how hot we were, we were willing to pony up the extra expense. At least it was worth it!! read more

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but admittedly I am a bit of a chocolate snob.. we'll blame that on my European upbringing (SorryNotSorry). So when we all melted during a hot day in July, the logical thing to buy was just that; chocolate. Thankfully, Venchi also has gelato.. which makes this place a double threat. About 20 flavors of freshly made, small batch gelato's, sorbets and granitas are on display, all of which we tried were equally good. A real stand out was the Azteca which is made with premium blends of cacao and olive oil.. that's it, not even dairy or sugar! Pure, dark, chocolatey decadence right there. Chocolate wise I'm a praline person.. any nut-butter filled chocolate makes me extremely happy. As such, Ive always loved the layered creamy, nutty chocolate squares known as cremino.. and let me tell you, Venchi's are easily the best I've ever had. The outer layers are made with silky gianduja chocolate (this is a hazelnut butter/chocolate hybrid), while the inner layer is made up of creamy pistachio butter. If you only chose one thing here, I'd say this would be my suggestion. Speaking of gianduja, their individual pieces with whole roasted hazelnuts are excellent. So are the filled dark chocolate squares. My favorites were the cherry filled and coconut filled, yet my husband was in love with the orange filled and coffee filled ones. Venchi focuses on ethically sourced quality ingredients, small batch production and a high quality end product. Their website has a lot more information on this, or if you stick around long enough the personnel will tell you all about the company. Two boxes of chocolate and three gelato's later I managed to spend about €100 in here. If you're not prepared to spend this then pay close attention to the price per weight, as the chocolate is a little on the pricey side. It goes fast is all I'm saying. Best. Damn. Gelato. In. Venice. Like you can not possible believe! Seriously: Venchi is a Cathedral of Chilled Catharsis! Sited right in the middle of the San Marco district, less than 3 mins walk from St. Mark's square, on a dog-leg corner of Calle Dei Fabbri and Rio Terà De Le Colonne. Venchi is a gleaming, modern, shop with huge windows that are a bit of an architectural oddity in the tight, busy, winding old streets of Venice. As you step over the threshold of the door, your senses are bombarded: bright lights and the clean sharp counter enticingly displaying over 30 gelato and granita, with smartly uniformed staff ready to serve them up. All are made fresh on-site in their "lab" kitchen, and there are different flavours every day. You can taste as many flavours as you like before you buy and you have a choice of different sizes of cups (copa) or cones. You can even mix several different flavours together in the same cup. And the gelato is dreamy! Smooth, rich and full of flavour. I went back 5 times in 3 days. It was THAT good! But the smell is what really got me! Just inside the door, you walk INTO the smell of cocoa, sugar, butter, vanilla, and many others, which combine into a sweet, thick, heady mélange of deliciousness. I almost floated around in there! But this isn't just a gelateria, it is also a high-end chocolatier as well, and the displays show off all their boutique boxes and individually wrapped chocolates to perfection. A range of different sizes and shapes are available in white, milk, dark or very dark rich chocolate. Cigars, coins, liquors and plain cubes, from pick your own bins to €100+ pre-packed gift boxes, all with individual Venetian inspired imagery their wrappings. Open from around 10:00 in the morning until 23:00 most nights, if you want a high-quality gelato any time of the day or evening this is the place to go! Brilliant! read more

We have been trying gelato throughout our Italian trip and there are NOT all the same. This place is worth seeking out in crazy, confusing Venice. Best gelato EVER!!! I had the stracciatella and it was the best I've ever had!!! GO. HERE. You till not regret it!!! read more
