We stopped by over the summer when we passed on our way back to the hotel. They were very generous with samples, offering different flavors of the chocolate and their cookies. I read about Nino's when researching our trip to Venice. A wow of a little place filled with chocolates, cookies, and other goodies. I think I tasted every sample offered in the store. Nino's even had pasta. I spied Candele (Candle), a 20" long tubular pasta. I had previously purchased Candele when in Southern Italy and had to have it. It isn't available where I live. Great window displays! I'd heard they give cookie samples. Well, they gave samples of what seemed like everything except cookies, though cookies were out and we were eyeing them, lol. It's fine because I'm not much of a cookie person and I indeed dropped enough money here. We probably had 5-7 samples of various jarred liquids. Guy tried to sell me a 90-ish euro jar of balsamic pearls, but when I said that wouldn't work for my carry-on-only travel, he showed me a 22-euro jar that fit perfectly into my liquids bag, lol. We also tried this pistachio butter covered in chocolate and that chocolate covered in this crispy coating. I bought a box of those and then some milk chocolate, which I hadn't tried in the store. This shop not only offers chocolate samples. They also offer free samples of sauces. Yes, sauces!!! At first, we saw them giving out samples and we tried it. It was so good. I bought a box of hazelnut and pistachio mix. Then, one of the girl standing at the sauce section and asked us to see if we want to try a sauce sample. We said ok. She started giving out most of the sauce tasting. She is very charismatic, passionate and informative salesman. Her name is Georgia. I want to buy it all. But unfortunately, I have two more stops and need to hand carry my luggage. I can only buy the small jar (less than 3oz.) End up I bought two jars of the truffles sauce. I was delighted to see this beautiful store! They were playing Cumbia and Reggaeton music so I felt welcome. As soon as I walked in, the samples were stored away by two young men. So, playing my music but reluctant to provide service. It was not until I requested a sample in Spanish that I was provided one sample. Venice is such a maze of small streets and corridors, the best I can give as a location is that it is near the Rialto Bridge. You'll see people gathered around the storefront window gazing at the chocolate fountains. Inside employees are handing out free samples of their candy and cookies which is genius marketing on their part because once you try anything you will want to buy a box. I tried pistachio filled chocolate balls, hazelnut filled chocolate balls and cappuccino filled cookies...and purchased a box of each. A bit pricey but worth every penny! read more

2018-09-08. Venice is so much more than the land of canals. It consists of more than 100 islands with 400 bridges connecting them. No land is spared here as every square inch as been developed. The place is pretty incredible, but over the years, tourism has drowned out the locals all throughout the Grand Canal. Homes have all taken to higher ground and businesses bundled shoulder to shoulder everywhere you go. Population density is high, and there are warnings of gypsies and shady characters always on the prowl for easy pickings. Although we didn't encounter any, it's advice I'd heed... better to be safe than sorry. The streets are narrow and every so often open up to Piazzas. There and many churches and the architecture is amazing; with many buildings preserved and/or restored to its original glory. Heading north on the east side of the grand canal and you'll find Nino and Friends. A chocolatier with chocolate fountains adorning it's windows. The place offers free samples of many of their chocolates, nuts, cookies, candies, and candied products. Some contain alcohol, but most don't. Northern Italy is known for their Gianduja, but that's more in the west. It was nice to see that they didn't try to lay claim to the same fame. Instead, Nino and his Pals are carving out a name of their own. The milk chocolate is quite smooth and their darks come in varying degrees of cacao. The chocolates are somewhat similar to Ferraro Rocher to give you a comparison. 4 stars. The cookies have fillings and are made with organic flour and are a little more dry and crumbly, similar to gluten free, but not advertised. Despite the premium ingredients, I just wasn't a fan. 2,5 stars. The lemon and orange cello drops burst in your mouth and are filled with liquor. These were expertly prepared and I'm sure they spent some time perfection the thin candy membrane to provide a good ratio of candy to liquor. The flavored were not too intense but noticeably sharp. Job well done. 5 stars. They're On the pricey side by any standard @ €6,5 / 50g; €9,5 / 100g; and €18 / 200g for their boxed chocolates. They have good selection from candies to cookies to chocolates. They have a version of Gianduija (rich smooth semi sweet hazelnut choc but it falls short from the original in Torino (Turin) region. Overall, they have some really good products. The staff is knowledgeable of their products and their M.O. of free samples is an effective one; the products practically sell themselves once you've tasted them. Amazing shop. They have Limonoro products which are so good but kinda pricey. They give out a ton of samples with limon or meloncello filled "frozen" candy, biscuits with filling, chocolates with filling, chocolates period, etc. You can't miss the store, they've got a giant nearly floor to ceiling chocolate waterfall. I ended up picking up a pistachio cream filled chocolate covered in nuts which was my favorite. They also have a ton of other savory products like truffle creams, salts, pasta, etc. Again super generous with samples and we also picked up "truffle magic" which is savory truffle powder. These stores aren't everywhere in Italy so if you see stuff you like, pick it up! read more

We came across this place while on our tour of Venice. I'm ALWAYS down for a chocolate shop. especially when the tour guide says they offer samples!! I tried a few things and my absolute favorite was the pistachio truffles! They had a crunchy shell and creamy inside. And the flavor was unbelievable and so unique. I've never had pistachio anything quite like it. The only reason I didn't purchase is because you buy a box with all one flavor. There's no option to create your own box of pieces. We were on the prowl for a place to eat dinner when we walked past Nino's--we overheard someone telling a small group, "I always tell people that these guys assault you with chocolate as soon as you walk in, and then leave you alone." Must visit. Really neat selection of chocolate, coffee, candies, gourmet truffle and pasta sauces. The unique thing was the staff every 30 seconds would run around with free samples of products. I must have had like 6 different items. They run around and very loudly encourage you to try it was funny. We bought 5 different items. You can't find the same exact ones at the duty free but you can find similar products at the Venice airport roughly same price maybe a bit cheaper. read more
