Loved this place! Had the absolute best flavors in the city and we deemed it our favorite! Service was great and fast and this is a pretty popular spot in the city. Environment was nice. Limited seating but there are beautiful places in the area to sit and enjoy. Can't wait to come back here!
Had the hazelnut ice cream per a friend's recommendation and it was excellent. Be prepared to stand in a long line. I was lucky and went earlier in the day so the line was relatively short. Staff was very friendly and quick to serve. The shop is pretty small and only fits a few people at a time so be ready to go in and out quickly. They have a QR code to link to the menu so you can see the options while waiting in line. I really liked the edible cup and both cup or cone options come with the cookie on top.
Wow! I can see why this gelato place is so popular. The flavors are so unique and rich. We went back twice! First time I got the sesame fig and it was delicious. The sesame flavor is very light almost masked by the fig, but the fig flavor brings out such a natural sweetness and I really enjoyed it. Second time I got the yogurt passion fruit. If you like tart Vietnamese yogurt, it has that essence. It was tart fruity and overall refreshing.
We tried Gelatoteca Suso on a recent trip to Europe and it was perhaps the best shop we visited! I was concerned that the hype would make a visit less enjoyable but the inhouse special flavors, thoughtful ambiance and efficient friendly service made the entire experience top notch! I got the best combination of Suso (double caramel with an infusion of toffee) and Bagigi peanut (pb cream filled with salted peanuts dipped in salted caramel). It was pure heaven!! The best way to celebrate the close of a hot Venetian day!
There are many culinary musts when in Italy like getting amazing pizza and pasta, but not many are absolute needs like gelato. On a hot day in Venice, there are few better ways to cool off than by stopping by Suso for some of the best gelato you can possibly find. The line was long in the busy little alley in front but went by fast as the service was quick to match. I got a marostica cone which is pistachio gelato with almonds and Amarena cherries. It was rich, creamy, and made absolutely fresh. An absolute highlight of visiting Venice and a must stop on a sunny or cloudy day alike.
Seeing this all over socials I thought it was going to be all hype. Its not. They have a great variety of flavors with a good mixture being traditional and more artisanal. I'm more traditional with my choices with my favorites being pistachio and lemon. But on one trip (yes there were many trips here) I notices one called sepa. It's a lemon/chocolate mixture of some sort. OMFG I've dreamed about it everyday since I've been back in the states. I wish Suso would open here.
**Review for Gelatoteca Suso** Rating: While vacationing in Venice during the hottest time of the year, I desperately needed something to cool me off. I stumbled upon Gelatoteca Suso and decided to treat myself to some creamy gelato. I went with the Opera gelato on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The flavor was reminiscent of a Ferrero Rocher--rich, nutty, and utterly delicious. Did it actually cool me off in this sweltering heat? Not really, but it was tasty :) I'll definitely be stopping by again before I head to my next destination in Europe. If you're in Venice, Gelatoteca Suso is a must-try for any gelato lover! Welp...onto the next!
Found this amazing gelato spot thanks to Yelp. Place was very cool, great flavor selections. Staff moved long lines in an orderly fashion. Gelato was nicely displayed. Most importantly perhaps, it tasted fantastic. I'm putting this review in a few weeks after having it but I still remember the quality of the pistachio and chocolate flavors. Truly excellent!
Suso is probably the most instagram famous gelato spot in Venice so expect a line, but they do move quickly and the unique flavors are quite worth it. You can look up the flavors on their website (qr code posted right outside the shop) before you get to the front of the line to help keep it moving. I chose maybe an incompatible flavor combo- one scoop Suso (toffee/caramel) and one scoop cheescake without really thinking that they would eventually blend together, so if I ever go back I would try to choose flavors that work better together. That being said- the actual gelato was great, very creamy and delicious. There is not really anywhere nearby to sit and enjoy it though, you have to get it to go and eat while walking.
Had a gelato almost every single day I was in Italy and this was one of the top ones! Dark chocolate sorbet is my go to flavor and it did not disappoint here. The nota nera (dark chocolate cream with raspberry sorbet) was also delicious, as was the yogurt with berries flavor. Small shop with no seating inside and is located on a busier street, so we took our gelato to a nearby piazza to enjoy it there. Server allowed us to sample a flavor or two before ordering which is always appreciated! read more

A trendy gelato spot amongst tourists. They got all the classics flavors as well as more modern ones. We went with the Stracietella and Pistachio in an edible cup and did enjoy them. They weren't bad by any means but I'd say there are better spots in the city. Their thin cookie was good though. read more

Unbelievable fig gelato! Very hard to find fig gelato and they had it. We also tried the chocolate and cheesecake. The cheesecake was very good too! All servings are served in a cone or cup made out of a cone. There isn't any seating inside, enjoy your gelato outside or on your walk. read more

I stopped in with a few friends because it was highly recommended. Oh my goodness. What a great decision. There was a line out the door but it moved quickly. The employees were friendly and super helpful. The place was clean and brightly lit. And then the gelato. Oh my goodness. So so good. I had two scoops. One tiramisu and one coffee flavored. I look forward to coming back really soon. I highly recommend it. read more

Suso's gelato, the perfect way to end any Venetian dinner! We stumbled in after a sumptuous dinner and were immediately greeted with friendly staff. Place seemed to be a popular among tourists & locals. Their gelato is truly a standout--creamy, rich, and bursting with full-bodied flavors, it's a delightful and refreshing dessert that hit all the right notes. They have more than 20 flavors in gelato along with their creamy shakes. Their charming decor beautifully complements the store, adding to the overall delightful experience. This gelato has been my best so far in my trip to Italy. Highly recommended then for a sweet treat! read more
The gelato was very creamy and flavorful. It was not too sweet! There was a semi-long line when I arrived, but it moved fairly fast. Due to the hurried nature of getting through the line, it felt rushed once you got up front, so I'd recommend looking up the flavors beforehand. read more

The best gelato we had during our Italy trip!I had the pistachio & salted caramel (tasted just like a snickers bar!). You order and pay at the counter. They accept cards. No seating space, so expect to take it on the go. read more

I tried 7 different gelato places in Italy and this was by far my favorite and I hate it because this is the one with the longest line haha. I see why the line is long because so worth it! I got the pistachio with sour cherry and passion fruit. The pistachio was nutty and a bit salty with the sweet yet tangy syrupiness of the sour cherry. I loved this flavor. The passionfruit flavor really packed a punch because the flavor did an amazing job at shining through. I love the edible cups and the little biscuit with it! Definitely get it this way. read more
Worth the wait! It is a small shop and the line can add up but trust me that this is worth it and the price was not bad either (4.50 for two flavors). We ordered the tiramisu and pistachio flavors. The tiramisu flavor was not too sweet, dense, and had bits of ladyfingers in it that complemented the coffee flavors of the gelato. The pistachio was so good! It had a great natural flavor to it and the roast flavor to it was pleasant. I also loved the wafer bowl it came in. It was perfect to have this offset some of the sweet flavors. When I had my first bite of Suso, it was like something finally clicked. I think this might be the best gelato in the world (I even tried the one in vancouver which allegedly is the best and it comes nowhere close to this one). So creamy, robust, and not too sweet! I didn't realize how good we had it til we went to Florence and their gelato game is not as strong as venice. These are fighting words. Do yourself a favor and get the cheesecake gelato! read more

Gelato I got the tiramisu scoop in the cone. The flavor of the gelato wasn't all there which is why I gave the rating. But the gelato is light and there are many different flavors so I would go back and try different flavors. Price The price of each scoop was very reasonable and for 2 cones with one scoop on one and two scoops on the other came out to about 6 euros and around 7 usd around this time Service The service here is pretty quick despite the long line. There is no seating inside and there is a crowd always outside. read more

May just be my favorite gelato in all of Italia and I've had my fair share in the North and South. I wish I could remember the exact flavor that sent my taste buds to heaven. It was not the regular pistachio although that was good, it was a special flavor that I had paired with the pistachio. My top scoop if you peep the pic, it had the most delish little additions to add some texture and was heavenly. So creamy and so yummy! I went back the same night to have it again, and that's how I know it wasn't the regular pistachio because I ordered the wrong flavor, blame it on the liter of wine we had with dinner ;) If you're looking for really tasty gelato I'd say pump the brakes on other spots and bee line right to Suso. Delish! The lines weren't so bad the two times we visited and they are pretty quick with getting folks in and out. read more
Try all the gelato you want - but if it looks airy and pre-produced, it likely is. Then... make your way to Suso. You won't be sorry!! Every flavor we tried was just magic. They have a lot of creative combos too. For example: 1. Bagigi Peanut - Peanut butter cream with salted peanuts immersed in caramel with sweet salt of Cervia 2. The Moor of Venice - Coffee, dark chocolate and coffee ice cream cake with almond kernels 3. Tiramisù Venezia - The famous dessert in ice cream version But there was plenty I wanted to try!! 1. Marosticana- Pistachio ice cream with a slight presence of almonds, variegated with black cherries 2. Manet - Gianduia ice cream (historical and traditional blend of chocolate and hazelnuts) covered with pistachio cream with sweet salt of Cervia 3. Doge's Cream - Pastry cream with macaroons, coffee chocolate and crispy puffed rice I wish I had stayed in Venice longer just to try all of their flavors!! Wow! The ladies who were working there that day were also very kind, efficient and funny. Go! Now!! :) read more

As many have iterated, this is probably the best gelato I've had in all of Italy. There are two locations, but we opted to go to the "original" and busiest one of them all. This is one of those places that has 20+ flavors and you wish you had the stomach to try scoops of all of them. Unfortunately, you're stuck with making some tough choices: Highly recommend the hazelnut (gianduja) and dark chocolate flavors. For those of you that think these are boring flavors, they normally would be. But in Italy, they make their chocolate decadent but light and not overly dense. Worth trying. Also tried their berries, stracciatella, and a few others. You can't go wrong with any of them. read more
