Dimly lit seating area. Intimate setting...

Overall the restaurant is a great experience if you decide to eat here. We felt as though it was as an authentic of a small town Irish pub experience that one could get. There is plenty of seating inside this restaurant with multiple rooms and seating options. Our Fried Hake and Fish & Chips were very well prepared and I'd have to say that Veldon's gets my vote for the best chips in Ireland. Our server was a very polite young man who was prompt and always looking out to provide for our needs.

Killary mussels

After a strenuous Diamond Hill climb in and out of the mist and rain, this was the perfect reward. Warm, welcoming, and a bowl of perfectly cooked Killary mussels in fragrant, hot broth. The treacle bread is the perfect accompaniment. Highly recommend.

Unbelievable how good the food was. Mussels and crab claws and chowder. Order them all. You are so very welcome.

Great seafood chowder. A real find for lunch. Panini and toasted wraps also good. Super friendly.

After ordering a drink is enquired about some football on TV and the barman was more than happy to pop it on for me, in fact he came over twice to check what time it was on and was I staying on for it... Really liked that he remembered and without fail, 5pm and he turned over the station for me! Why to win your customers over, well done! We quickly got cosy, there was a stove fire burning strong so the place was warm and people pottered in and out, they have a couple of tv screens plus games rooms to the back of the bar, so grand if he fancy some pool :-) The barman kept the drinks coming and despite not being a pub with lounge staff, on couple of occasions they came on out from the bar with our 'special delivery'... Pretty decent of them and continued to have great banter with us and I'd gladly go here again when I'm back in Letterfrack. As I said it's definitely a no frills place but if your after a great pint of Guinness and some friendly Irish banter, then this is just the place :-)

They have a long list of food awards displayed with the last one being Galway Pub of the Year at the Connaught Regional Irish Restaurant Awards 2017. This restaurant is like a museum with lots of artifacts lining the walls. We walked right in without a reservation because it was off season. During high season it takes a couple of hours to get a table in this small pub. We started with appetizers of goat cheese, crab and cheese bread. All of these were delicious and very fresh. For entrees we ordered aged steak and a traditional chicken dish. The steak was cooked perfectly and came with broccoli, potatoes and carrots. The chicken came with a white sauce that was amazing. We ordered bread pudding for dessert and it was awesome.

Walking in, you have a beautiful bar flanked by a wood burning fireplace surrounded by chairs/ couches. Open the adjacent door and you have the other side of the bar and entrance to the back bar. The back bar is just amazing, complete with a replica of The Titanic! Trust me, you won't see anything like this anywhere... back in the day this bar commissioned folks to go on the ship, they said. What makes the place is the Locals... here they will talk to you, spark up a conversation unlike Dublin & Cork City. Spent 3-4 nights in here and the people you meet and conversations/ gibberish really make it authentic! The bartenders are also all good, dealt with 3 different ones and all of them had plenty of info on the area/ recommendations, etc. The Guinness is amazing and they DO NOT serve food during the off season... have a bag of salted peanuts! Even met the owner and he bought me a shot of Jameson. Must See// Talk Later
