I had the best Seafood Chowder of my life here! They had live music, lovely service staff and The Chowder. We had a great time and spoke with the musicians after. Very nice place.

I'm not sure what's wrong with the other reviewer's to them love the food couldn't say nicer things about the place and one left a three star review and one left for star review this place really deserves five stars. We had the lamb burger which was exceptional, The macro fish cakes with the I only were delicious and the sweet potato fries were a hit. The servers could not be more accommodating and nice. The space is decorated with a Maritime theme. We sat at a booth by the door which was very comfortable. For desert we had a caramel pot thingy with strawberries, also delicious. We only found this place because a local recommended it. We are so glad we spoke to a local! This place is a gem.

It was almost 4:00 pm and some restaurants were ready to serve dinner. I saw Mitchell's was to serve lunch until 4:30 pm. So we went. The servers and the manager (could be the owner) were very friendly and quick. Both my friend and I ordered the Hereford beef burger. I ordered a seafood chowder and pistachio cake for dessert. The chowder truly hit the spot. It wasn't thick and full of seafood. The burger was good, but I think the fries cut was too thick. It was nice the burger came with a small salad, which we didn't know and my friend ordered a small side salad. So we ended up with lots of salad. The fresh cream on the dessert plate was delicious. It went well with the pistachio cake. However, it was a bit hard to taste the pistachio. We chatted up with a couple who bike to Clifden once a year and they always come to Mitchell's for lunch, especially for the seafood chowder and crème brûler. High praise indeed. Highly recommend this place. I picked the right place.

And it's rare that I Shazam a restaurant playlist, but this one -- sultry vocal jazz versions of iconic pop hits -- was irresistible. Confirmed with our waiter that it's custom. Try the seafood sampler. Outstanding spot in a charming Irish town. Reasonably priced. Romantic. Great date spot.

More fleshy than the delicate French tables. Even appearing a little heretic, I will admit that I like. I have a soft spot for Utah Beach or Horse's Feet (very big french oysters). It is not necessarily "gastronomy" but it satisfies my Ogre side! The setting is quite simple and the welcome friendly. Some classic fried shrimps. And the chosen piece, a 1.5kg lobster just grilled, with a butter infused with herbs. Perfect cooking, tender and delicious flesh. What more can you ask for ? Lobster and brioche! And potato! Yes, the plate of vegetables that accompanies is endowed with the eternal Irish potatoes, vestige of the great famine of the mid-nineteenth century. They missed so much at the time that they serve whatever the mood is. So dear Irish friends, ok for the potato every time but with a little whipped cream with chives when in field dress; go and see our Belgian friends who will teach you how to cook french fries; take a tour by Noirmoutier or Peru to discover interesting varieties. The seafood plate is a little disappointing. Mitchell's in the same city was more interesting for only 3 euros more. The presentation is not very elegant, the mussels less prepared, the salmon chiffonade rather than slices, banal cocktail sauce. Classic cheese cake. Bill of 139 euros for 2.

The crab meat was fresh and very flavorful and a very ample portion. The burrata was creamy and delicious on a bed of assorted tomatoes. We both had the broiled lobster which was prepared perfectly. For dessert my wife had the cheese plate which had 6 different imported cheeses that we could have shared as it was very large. I had an apple crumble with calvados. The berries are from their garden which was a nice touch. The dining room had a great view of the bay. All in all a very nice dining experience. As an aside, the service was excellent.

The owners were great, and they nailed the little details too: welcoming us with tea and homemade biscuits, encouraging us to make special requests to the chef, discussing whiskeys with me, etc. The restaurant was fantastic too. The view is amazing, the food is delicious, and as mentioned above, the chef is very accommodating. All ingredients are locally sourced, and they sure know how to get a lot of flavor and variety out of them! Don't miss this place if you're in (or even nearby) the area!
