While they have some nice,…read morediscounted prices compared to a regular Nordstrom's I typically don't find anything that I can live without. I y=usually am more apt to find something to my liking at a regular Nordstrom's but I wouldn't quite count myself as a regular shopper there either. By and large it's more of a preference thing really more than anything else. While I do love acquiring clothes...and from an observer's point of view that may look like I am not picky at all with what I get I actually am more picky than it would look. So that really has nothing to do with quality of product of service really. Just preference. Moving away from preference however is the parking to get to the cluster of stores where this store is at. It's often a tight squeeze and and very congested to navigate through here. Other driver's get mixed up at the Stop signs or simply don't care and one can risk a collision. That's why if I go to this sector of stores I park over in the main mall parking lot and get in and out from the main mall routes rather than navigating through all the pedestrians and cars. We just finished hockey and wanted to hit up some local thrift, vintage, shops. So when we arrived, they were closed. We walked to a nearby thrift store then came back. We were immediately intrigued by the stores ambiance. It was set up really cute, total vintage, and clean. Many things caught our eyes, and we scattered all giddy, but the elder behind the counter kept staring at us, NONE STOP. Like we were stealing from her. Which made it awkward. So we didn't stay long. Then she got very flustered, that I wanted to pay 1/2 cash, 1/2 card. I stood there quietly. To the point I was like, just keep the clothes. It's ok, but we really liked what we were buying. Many things are over priced, as many "vintage" stores are. (Ex. A "very" used pair of Converse Chucks were $45). You gotta really shop for the diamond in the rough, but it's absolutely worth it. They had a nice selection of attire, we would've purchased more. However, not finding much clothing under $40, and I was shopping with two teenagers. It was a tad outta our price range.

There are people who get in the business of hawking vintage stuff because it's trendy or a quick buck, and then there are people who know the business deeply because they love it. Jordan is firmly in the latter camp; her little shop on "I" St. (across from Tacoma Little Theatre) was her family shop for ages, and the newer, more expansive one (attached to Kings Books) allows plenty of room to roam. (It also feels really clean, unlike some vintage stores I've browsed.) With different stuff in the store vs. at the year-round weekly market vs. in the Etsy shop, you can have a whole lot of fun browsing here. And when you find the winners for you, it won't break the bank to hug them all up (Tiny Toons/Elmira-style) and bring them home with you. Enjoy!

I am most certainly a clothes horse and have a variety of styles from punk, goth, retro kitsch, rock star look, brewery shirts to even a skater types of clothes. I even have stuff that doesn't fit into any of that and I just had a weakness for it at the time. One would think I'd succumb to many shopping sprees for clothes frequently with not much of a stringent process on what to buy but having a large wardrobe has actually made me very picky about what I buy... depending on the store of course. Being a mall walker especially during the winter months sends me through Nordstrom's at the Tacoma Mall quite often and my eye often wonders as I pass through the men's section but so far I'm still a tough sale. I have purchased items from here in the past but it is infrequent and what I purchased was from their underwear section for men. I have bought a few briefs here that are very well made and have fun patterns to them that I have been pleased with. A lot more interesting than the Hanes tightie whities. This is a part of my particular and stringent process with clothing as to have good underwear. But the selection here changes as one would expect and while finding a couple magnificent briefs here my last walk through in this section had mainly boxers and boxer briefs which isn't exactly my preference. And that was about all they had was this type so I didn't pursue browsing any further. Another Yelper wrote a review that item selection at this Nordstrom's isn't as good as some of their other locations and while I cannot confirm this it wouldn't be surprising as many of the retail stores in the general area I live in are considered smaller model stores which also means less of a selection. One thing I love with this location and maybe each location has a different look but around Christmas time they put up beautiful decoration displays and I always got to take some pictures to enjoy and post to Instagram. This past holiday season they had a great big and impressive menorah as well. There is a coffee shop near the mall entrance that is I believe a part of Nordstrom's. They have their own Yelp entry but unfortunately I am not too impressed with their pastries or coffee but that is a whole other layer of pickiness aside from the clothing shopper in me.

The store is clean and well-maintained, and prices seemed reasonable from what we saw. The staff were friendly, greeting us when we walked in and asking if we needed help with anything, but we were happy to browse on our own. Too bad we didn't end up finding anything we wanted to buy - it would have been nice to support this little place. Being without clothes, they wanted to open my curtain and saying if I don't hurry up they will come in and kick me out. Once i had my clothes on and ready to go, they followed me outside the store and i told the manager why was this happening and she gave me a very NASTY look and IGNORED me. The two male cops kept following me until I was at the food court on my way out. This is very unexceptional, unexpected and inexcusable.

One thing I liked is their website has an extensive selection, but sometimes you could find the dress in the store to try on and even if it was the wrong size they could order it for you and have it shipped to your house for free because they're based in California. It took about 3 - 4 business days to get my shoes that I needed in a certain size and a dress that I needed. So if you plan a little bit in advance and they don't have your size they can check inventory and order it for you so you can get within 3 to 4 days you should have it if you're in WA. You'll be notified when the order ships and when your order is expected delivery + a tracking number to watch for it. The girls that work there are sweet, helpful, but not hovering, and will show you what they have if you ask for something particular.
