Buyer beware! When you hit a sale at Macy's, it is not a sale at all! Always check to see what the manufacturers suggested retail price really is. Macy's will overinflate the regular price making you believe you are receiving a sale price, but really you are paying near full retail. This is very deceptive and disappointing. If I buy anything here, I always go to the manufacturers website to check the actual price first. read more

This summer I bought a beautiful dress from the backstage area . I was going to give it to my daughter . When I hand it to her she showed me a big cut in the back of the dress . I tried to take it back in exchange for another item and since I had no receipt I was turned away . I wrote the CEO about my experience , no answer . After spending $80 at Macy's on Chanel No 5 body lotion, the cap snapped in half (with no indue pressure). I took it to the Tacoma Mall Macy's and all they had to say was that it was past their return period and I could deal directly with Chanel. Chanel was horrible and needed more documentation than an enhanced driver's license! After many back and forth emails, they won! I gave up utterly frustrated. I would be surprised if Lancome makes any money at Macy's Tacoma Mall with the kind of customer service I experienced. I stopped by the Lancome counter and noticed a moisturizer I hadn't seen before. I wanted to try it, so I used one of the sample sticks to dab a little from the jar. I was expecting it to be a light moisturizer, but it had a much heavier texture--and I accidentally took too much. I rubbed some on my face, but still had quite a bit left on my hand. I asked the woman behind the counter--blonde, possibly named Amanda or Angela, looked around 60ish working Friday afternoon around 1:00 p.m.--for a tissue. Instead of a polite response, she made a snide remark: "You're only supposed to put a small dot. You have enough to last a month." I explained it was an accident and that's why I needed a tissue. After I wiped it off, she didn't even offer a trash can or to dispose it for me, I left walking around Macy's holding it until I found one. While that may seem small, the bigger issue is this: I was standing at her counter sampling a Lancome product, clearly a potential customer, yet she NEVER once asked if she could help me choose a product or make a purchase. Not once. That is lousy, lazy salesmanship, and I would not be surprised if her sales numbers reflected it. read more

Macy's does not back up its products. We purchased a suitcase. On its first use it broke. Macy's refused to refund or replace it. In addition the store has soiled carpets cracked floor tiles and an all around over the hill appearance. I had been a Macy's customer for over 60 years. We now destroyed our Macy's card. Macy's used to be my go to store since they carried petites and normally had a decent selection. Over the past year the quality and quantity has declined and the customer service has decrease to the point of being non existent. there is one woman who works in the petite/women's section and has the worst communication skills of anyone I've ever met. She is rude and obviously couldn't care less about those of us who are customers. I used to buy my cosmetics from Macys but after one associate showed me a lipstick and when I got home it was entirely different from the one I wanted which meant another trip back to the store to exchange it. This store is a nightmare. I left with out my purchase because of the Loooooong period of time I had to spend waiting to check out. 20 minutes. While I was there a woman came in and cut the sensors on 2 expensive bags and ran out the door. No one did anything to stop her. Unbelievable. Meanwhile I am trying to pay for my purchase and was no able to do it because the gal at the counter was not able to reach the manager to ask how to do something. I had purchased some frango's while I was waiting. I was so frazzled that I left the store without them. I tried to call the store back to get a refund. After 25 minutes trying to reach multiple different departments with no answer in any of them. I gave up. Keep my purchase, Keep my frango's and Keep your shoplifters that check out much faster that I did. To think this used to be my favorite store. It is now, my most hated store. I was so impressed by a young lady that corporate ought to promote her to teach how to manage people and clients at all levels with dignity and respect. Never missing a beat, she worked tirelessly to provide excellent customer service to everyone. Ms, Shanice Green in Woman's Shoes in the Tacoma Macy's is a true treasure. Everyone that gets a chance to know this young lady will be a stronger person in themselves and know their own truth. I wish her the best this life has to offer and would strongly suggest that Macy's take a look at the talent they have in their ranks. I look forward to coming back. What has happened to this store?! In the past I could walk in and find anything because it was well laid out. Went in yesterday and I was met with a bunch of banners hanging from the ceiling, disorganized and cluttered areas and just looking like a 3rd rate department store (I.e. target, Walmart etc.). Today I experience the north face women's jacket area and the perfume counter as always the perfume counter is a lovely place to go except for it's similar to a car salesman shop they want you to pre-sale and get a goodie basket they want you to I am buy a bundle and not a bottle not always do you get a deal but I understand they're working and selling off of commission and numbers and items per transaction parking is easy for this location the woman at the jacket section she was easy-going no hard pressure but I was relaxed and dress down that day so she probably thought I was going to steal something or buy nothing LOL but let's keep it real. I'd suggest holding your grounds and having good boundaries when you go to the perfume counter don't open an account don't get talked into things you're really not sure of besides that it's a decent place to go I usually go to Nordstrom's but they didn't have what I want and I found it today here. read more

Zero stars is what this review should be getting for the cosmetics perfume counter women working here 9/25/21 3pm. They were 100% useless, didn't offer to help me at all. I purposely walked past them twice seeing if they would offer to help me, nope, not even a hello. I stood at the Chanel counter waiting and they Just looked at me and continued talking together! Made me uncomfortable and they just lost me as a perfume sale from Macy's for life. Astonishing customer service! Not the way to astonish your customers! Train these women Macys on how to acknowledge all customers and not just make eye contact and do nothing. So, I went to Nordstrom and spent $300 on what I went to Macy's for. Walking back through Macy's to get to my car, I was acknowledged by a woman who was with a new group of trainees and each one of them said hello to me! Skip, the guy that works in the shoe department, opened up a new account for me without my approval. I didn't have my Macy's card so he said he would look it up with my SSN. That's when he opened the account. I had autopay on my original account but when I had them close my second account, it messed up my auto pay. So now I have late fees and interest fees. I called the store manager but was told she would call me back. Never did. Done with Macy's!! read more

After a terrible customer service at the Vans shoe store at the Tacoma mall, I went to the shoe department at Macy's. As soon as I walked in the employee "Bobby" said "Hi. Is there anything that I can help you find?" That simple act was all that was need to earn my business. Last year during the holiday season, I wanted to buy my mom earrings. I found some that I wanted but they were in a case and I needed assistance. It was pretty busy so I waited patiently as the woman helped an older man... I'm a college student so I can understand why she would help the older customer first but after him she moved on to the second and third... I waited for 35 minutes! I was so furious I just went to Nordstrom where I found better earrings and was assisted promptly. I didn't go for a while after but I was dragged in there last week and the dressing rooms were simply disgusting... There were clothes and hangers everywhere I'm talking piles of clothes spilling on to the floors of the dressing rooms. I have been a customer of Macy's since I was a child in patent leather shoes with lace trimmed daintily folded down socks in your New York store. My grandmother loved to take me shopping to dress me like a princess and then take me to a wonderfully magical lunch where she would teach me how to run a table like a lady ...ahh the memories Of course your not the same store you used to be I cannot recall the last time any of your store associates as you call them tried to upsell me in fact they seem to be in such a rush to get back to the chat fest they all seem to be involved in that I can rarely get one to help at all and usually just leave to Nordstrom but I do wish you all the luck in the world and I will continue to stop in see if you have elevated yourself and search for even one sales associate who still help me before I skip on down to the store down the way who i can assist me quickly. read more

I usually avoid this store like the plague, because I always spend too much when I go. I really do love to shop here, always have, always will. Something keeps drawing me back. I love how clean and organized it is. I love that I can always find someone to help me. I love that the help is willing to help me find what I need. I love that they are friendly. I love that they treat my kids like they matter. I just love this store! Our last shopping experience was really good. We had shopped all day, we were tired, yet my son who has just grown out of kids shoes, and into adult sizes, knew exactly what he wanted, just could not find what he wanted in his size. We walked into the mens shoe department, and we found the exact shoes that we were looking for, and they were on a really good sale too. The sales rep. helped my son try them on, and made sure that they fit him right before selling them to me. He was fast, and eager to help us, and he did not mind that we looked around just to make sure that it was the right shoe for him. He made checking out easy, Macys was one of the only stores that we left feeling good after shopping at during the whole day. read more

I'm not usually a fan of Macy's just because I get overwhelmed by all the stuff they have. I had a coupon and giftcard so I thought I'd at least check out the purse section. I was annoyed at first because the purse I wanted to look at was locked up and I assumed it'd take me forever to fine someone. I was wrong. The sales associate was so nice. I'm not really a Macy's shopper, so take that as it is. We stopped in here as we had parked in the lot closest to Macys to get into the mall. One thing I noticed right away is the way the escalators are situated. The escalators are huge as if almost you could fit a stroller on them but I don't suggest you do that for safety reasons. The escalators are basically in the middle of the store and take you up or down within Macys. There weren't any signs that I could see that indicated what was on the floor you were going up or down to. Anyway, we really came in to use the bathroom before heading out into the main mall. I will also say there was an odd placement of bathrooms. They were at the back of the men's section as if you were going toward a fitting room. The women's one was up the escalator so I don't even think the bathrooms are on the same floor. This is what caused me to lose my friends in Macys since the escalator didn't have signage we played escalator tag until we made it up to the cosmetics area which leads out into the mall. This is kind of why I don't go shopping at the mall. I did browse the mens and shoe sections and the were very clean and plenty of people to help. It didn't seem as intimidating as the Nordstrom shoe section. There was also a wide price range and it wasn't strictly high end, so that was cool. Also, there weren't just a whole bunch of people hanging out by the register and then scatter when you look like you need help which was a good thing. I still don't have any need to go to Macys but this one is pretty decent. read more

I finally found one on a different floor and the cashier didn't know what a wow pass was or how to speak English! I just left and went to Nordstrom like I should of to begin with but I wanted a certain brand of jeans that only Macy's has. The store was quite busy and it was difficult to get help in both shoes and purses (on a Sunday afternoon). At first in the shoes there was a young man who seemed helpful and nice, but i needed some time to browse, and by the time i had selected what i really wanted to try on he was gone. There was an older man who was running around looking overwhelmed and i wasnt able to get his assitance. So I went across the aisle to a lady in shoes who acknowledged my need of assistance in getting me my size, but then proceeded to chat with a customer who was shopping for a pair of shoes for a trip to europe.. I waited, but she clearly thought Paris & chatting up that customer (who was not needing further assistance) was more important than myself who was needing assitance.. so after a while I put the shoes I was holding back to their display and walked away to purchase a couple pairs at aldo. Purses had 1 employee who was a bit slow and caught up with a customer who needed a lot of time and transactions, which I don't fault much.. but she saw me, I waited a while, I walked to sunglasses to purchase a purse (they said they couldn't do the transaction bc they couldn't remove the sensor), i walked back to purses, waited quite a while more, then was finally addressed and told I could try another counter (even though i said sunglasses couldn't help), i walked off to try another counter again. As I was walking to another counter, there was an employee who was just arriving to a shift and was clocking in and we made eye contact (she didnt avoid me), i asked if she could assist me once she was situated. She was polite the entire time, and went above and beyond when I had an issue with a giftcard. I had not shared with her my experiences, she just seemed to have a higher level of customer service. The only reason I am giving 4 starts instead of 2, is this employee. (you're not getting 5 bc of the 2 poor experiences I had and other customer probably did as well). She didn't have a name tag and the name is not on my receipt, but if the store manager reads this, contact me if you can extract who she was by the info at the top of the receipt. Macy's offers a large variety of quality clothings and some high end for decent prices as they are always offering some type of sale in additional to WOW passes and such. Their handbag selection is pretty good and like I said some type of sale is always going on, check the clearance and sale tables for extra special deals. The men's department has a large selection of Levi's which are my husband's favorite. Once of the ladies that work in that department is super duper helpful but I can't remember here name. read more

This is my 2nd time coming to this location to purchase items from the makeup department. I wish I had a camera on me so they know how they treat people you are not dressed nice and fancy like others at the mall. The same experience as last time. I get passed by an associate to help someone alittle fancier than me. Then when I do approach 2 TWO associates they did not acknowledge me. Then one walks away to the make-up counter..she didn't say a word...hi or how may a help you NOTHING. So - not that they care...will order from Amazon to prevent myself the embarassment of shopping at Macys...apparantley I don't look the part. read more
