She did ask us if we needed help but promptly pointed us to the "other items" as she only had "real stones" at her counter. Yes, we were in jeans and sweatshirts but that shouldn't matter. Bought a bed at Macy's furniture in January and was told the bed would be delivered on Feb 4th. Called on the 4th and they said it would take 2 weeks to process in the warehouse and then be delivered. After 2 weeks I received an email saying their was a problem with the order and it won't be available until June. The store didn't help with anything and said they can't promise it will even arrive in June. They offered me a 10% discount on a completely different bed. Horrible customer service on the phone and terrible service in store. With amazon's amazing customer service they will be out of business soon I'm guessing! read more

Glen in the shoe department rushed ordered my shoes for my wedding because the ones I bought ended up being too big just days before my wedding. He waved the shipping cost for me. oh my god. never again! I had a horrendous experience just trying to purchase a pair of shoes. First it took about 20 minutes for a salesperson to even acknowledge me. Then it took her 10 minutes to get the shoes. Then i needed a smaller size. i waited another 10 minutes and when i stood up finally she said that she'd be right with me... another woman got helped right next to me who was waiting about 2 minutes (she was dressed much more fashionably than me). 20 minutes later... I stood up again to see the woman who was supposed to be helping me at the register ringing people up!!!! I walked up to her and said "did you forget about me?" She told me no, she didn't forget about me, she just got stuck at the register!! Are you KIDDING me?! She couldn't have told me, or gotten someone else to help me? Needless to say, i walked out without buying the $110 pair of shoes which I wanted badly. After basically an hour of waiting. And there were at least 3 employees gossiping in the back. Wow. I'm going to see if Nordstrom has them tomorrow. And by the way... I have a friend that used to work at Macy's and she only worked there about a month. She said that the employees there were rediculous, didn't know what they were doing, didn't really work, just chatted a lot with each other, were lazy, completely disorganized and that each dept was run completely different than the next and that no one really knew what they were doing, including the management. I thought she was exaggerating. Now I see that she definitely wasn't! (and that was a different macy's, the one at Southcenter) I will not step foot in a Macy's ever again. And by the way, later that night I found those same shoes online from a different source and ordered them (I really did want them badly). All because a girl wanted to garner commissions by working the register while it was busy. Yes... the employees make their commissions by working the register, NOT actually selling the shoes!!! I heard from my friend about this. (they use a password to log into the register under their name so the commissions are tracked that way) One of the reasons the Macy's employees don't like to work or neaten their areas is it takes time from checking people out. Workiing registers is more lucrative. So that employee didn't get "stuck" at the register at all! It was a busy time for commissions! Macy's.... find a different way of paying your people!!! Get them to provide great customer service in return for there name like other stores, geez. read more

This is a review for a specific experience, not the store as a whole. I was interested in purchasing a high-end handbag, but the saleswoman wasn't very interested in helping me do so. After I asked a question, she left, saying she was going to look something up for me, then disappeared. After ten minutes I went looking for her. Eventually I saw her on the phone trying very hard not to make eye contact with me. I wondered if she was too busy, or looked at my jeans and old t-shirt and judged that I couldn't afford one? I don't normally shop here too often, but the one time I was set on going in to buy something, I was completely turned off. I wanted to buy moisturizer for my face and in both the Clinique and Lancôme booth, or whatever you call it, both associates were eyeing me like I was some thief. One associate was behind me and as soon as I picked something up to look at she zoomed in front of me staring straight at me. Mind you I had no backpack, no purse, not even pockets (I had my wallet in my bra). So where tf do they think I'm going to put anything?! Is it because of the color of my skin? First issue, went shopping to find my mom a mother of the bride dress, we had just bought my wedding dress less than an hour before...no one anywhere near the fitting rooms for help.. then go to check out and have to stand in line for 10 min while another associate is ringing someone up. Not ONE other person came to help. So we head to another register and again have to wait for 10 minutes. Two girls checking and when one was done instead on helping me she says I have to pee and walks away. So we check out finally... head to the jewelry section and Patricia behind the counter was standing there and asked if we were looking for real or fake, we said we don't know yet we're looking for stuff for my wedding. She then points to the fake stuff. No attempt to show us nice things which we could've bought if we chose to, I mean we did just buy my wedding dress so definitely in a shopping mood for my perfect day. So Patricia just a word of advice, don't look down on people in jeans and sweatshirts even after hearing a little about what we're looking for... if you work on commission you just lost a pretty big sale. read more

The new Back Stage section is an epic fail, if you are looking for men's fashions. Very small selection compared to the rest of the department. Guess I should have known when I first arrived on the second floor, I asked a sales person where the men's section was. She directed me to the basement. She wasn't even aware that there was a very small offering of men's apparel in the Back Stage area. That's pretty sad. It's no wonder Macy's is slowly on the way out! I purchased a pair of slacks and a sweater at the Puyallup location the night before an interview, yeah, I know, last minute. After getting home, eating dinner and then trying everything on, my girlfriend and I noticed the girl had left the sensor tag on the sweater. Great, among the millions of things I had to the following day during my breaks, I now had to run to the Tacoma Macy's (a mile from my job) and have them take off the sensor. Fast forward to the following day and I ride my motorcycle over to the Macy's with the sweater in my back pack. Let me mention this was an $80 CK sweater. I'm not the sweater type, but it looked good on me and I need some interview attire. I walk inside and find the first attended counter. It's in the mens department and the guy asks how he can help me. I explain the situation, hand over the sweater and my receipt. He starts asking me questions about why I didn't take it back to the Puyallup store and that they may not even be able to remove it because every store uses different sensors and he's gonna have to take it into the back and have his manager look at it. Before he walks off, he goes over the receipt with a fine toothed comb, double checking the numbers and making sure I'm not returning stolen merchandise. After thinking I might actually have a truthful story here, he asks me to follow him to the managers entrance and to wait for him to get the sensor removed. After 45 seconds, he comes back out and hands me the sweater, tells me he's sorry for the wait and that next time I need to make sure all sensors are removed from the clothing before leaving the store and he left. Wow. It's all of a sudden my job to make sure sensors need to be removed from clothing I just bought? My girlfriend is a manager with Victoria's Secret, so I hear all day about theft rings, thieves and everything else under the sun. But seriously dude, I had a matching receipt and it was for dated for 15 minutes prior to them closing last night. I realize I pulled it out of a backpack, but I suppose the motorcycle helmet in my other hand might have been an indication that I couldn't exactly bring it in the original bag. I've never been so offended for having bought some nice clothes for once. I will go out of my way to avoid Macy's in the future unless something comes up and it's unavoidable. read more

For my older sister's birthday -- she just turned 73 -- as part of a "makeover day" we took her to Macy's Clinique counter to have her makeup done. When a young man named Kento stepped up, we were a little hesitant (would a man know how to do great makeup???), but nobody else was available so my sister sat in his chair. We asked for a soft, barely there look, and boy, did he do a great job! He spent nearly half an hour selecting, applying and discussing the products he used, and even gave her a drawing filled out with all the products. He listed them -- and their prices -- on the drawing, so she can go back and be sure to get exactly what he used. She looked FABULOUS when he was finished; my other sister said she looked ten years younger, and she was right! My sister didn't buy anything -- she has allergies and wanted to be sure her skin didn't react to the cosmetics -- but we did! Kento helped me find the perfect lipstick and my other sister the correct eyebrow pencil. If you need a new look, try this guy Kento. He's friendly, thorough, and a great cosmetician! read more

This Macy's is just sad, horribly disorganized, funny smells all around, and the staff have no clue what products are in their own sections. I asked a lady in women's where some dress pants were and she had no clue. Long story short, dress pants were fifteen feet behind us on a rack she walked right past. Nordstrom is by far a better store, higher quality products, overly helpful staff, and it's clean...no random urine smells in the dressing rooms. read more

Ok so this review is for the women's shoe department area I picked out the heels I wanted and waited about 10 mins the 2 male workers were both at the register ringing up costumers, so I waited about 5 more mins and I walked up and asked if I could get some sizes and he said "we'll be right with you I'm ringing up a customer " so I said ok , walked around picked out more shoes and sat there for another 10 mins.. at this point I seriously coulda just walked to the back and get my own shoes. They get paid off commission , it doesn't take long to go to the back and get the shoes I wanted plus extra.. I know this bc I worked in the shoe department before, you have to be able to multitask and greet your costumers. I wasn't once greeted. Anyways i decided to just get up and leave bc I was just not having it and that's when the worker decided "hey miss" 5xs but I ignored him like he did me .long story short if this place is your last option just go to the back and get your own shoes read more

Horrible experience with Macy's fraudulent credit department. When applying for Macy's store card they automatically issue an Amex with annual fee attached annual fee! Tried calling customer service to change, and gave up after 87 minute hold time! Avoid Macy's and their bate and switch credit strategies. Their lure in credit apps. by only extending store sale prices to credit card holders. read more

Had issues with this Macy's - went to return many items and they were unable to assist me carry 14 boxes. I asked for a cart or anything, they pretty much just told me I was out of luck. Has to be one of the oldest looking and feeling Macy's in the chain. The selection here seems like it is the close out store for the chain. Try to find a sales associate here can be painful at times. On some days you trip over them. The only place in the whole store that seems to be fully staffed is the fragrance department. However, can you please hire folks that are younger than my grandma to suggest new and in fashion fragrances? I love the product and the prices are fair. My biggest gripe is there are long lines at every till. It usually takes me on average 15-20 minutes to make it through the line and check out. Good luck finding anyone to help you these days. It's really pretty sad that they have decided to reduce staff to save $$. I shop there a lot less because I usually do not have the time to stand in a long line to check out. This has been ongoing over the past year. Recently, my husband, our 4 year old son, and I visited the Tacoma Men's Department to purchase a suit and all of the trimmings. We had never purchased a suit before, so we were a bit lost in how to start or even, frankly, what we were looking for. Upon entering the suit area, it became apparent immediately that we had no idea where to begin and we quickly were feeling overwhelmed. But, then came Brett, an outstanding customer service reps. I cannot even begin to explain what an amazing job he did. We were literally there for over 3 hours trying on different suits, looking for ties, searching for the right shoes, trying to find the right shirt, etc. Brett helped us every step of the way. He ran to different parts of the store to help find what we were looking for, he gave us advice without being pushy, and he handled my husband's and my ignorance of fashion and our four year old's ever growing impatience with the whole situation with grace and patience . At one point, our party became separated from each other and my purse and my son's video games were left in the dressing room. Brett found the items, bagged them nicely in a Macy's bag and held them at the check out counter until we retrieved them. He special ordered my husband's shoes for us to be delivered to our home, helped to set up and understand the alterations of the suit, and, most impressive of all, came out from his break later when we had further questions. We are sure the whole experience was testing for him, but he handled himself, and us, so well and never made us feel like we were a pain (though we know we were. Did I mention we were there for over three hours??) Thank you again Brett for the wonderful experience! read more

We received a call from Macy's saying that we owed them back charges for some program we didn't even sign up for. Apparently when my wife returned a pair of boots, the person helping her decided to sign her up for a program that costs $25 without telling her. So these charges kept compiling on her card until it was almost $100. We only found out about this after getting collection calls from Macy's. After disputing it with their investigations office, we were eventually able to tell them that the charges were bogus and we didn't sign up for anything. I'm going to say this store needs to hire some more honest individuals because signing them up for programs without their knowledge or consent, especially when it costs money, is not ok. DEFINITELY NOT OK!! read more

I purchased large gold hoop earrings 5 weeks ago on Macys.com. I wore them today for lunch. When I took them off I noticed the little gold wire that slips into the hoop was missing. Lucky that I didn't lost the whole earring. I called Macy.com customer service and never expected the response that I got. They said the earrings were over 1 month old. I explained that I did not want to return them. I wanted them replaced or repaired. Over 1 hour later and 5 employees later in the Phillippines I got nowhere other than losing my vocal cords. I cannot believe that I am a Platinum American Express Macy's card holder and this is how I am being treated. I also cannot believe that this is the "NEW" Macy's. I could have gotten a much better price on Amazon or other sites. I was willing to spend more for what I thought was a legitimate company. Macy's in the Tacoma mall is not the Macy's that I have known and shopped in for years. The departments are disheveled and dirty. Shoe department shelves are full of dust. Other departments have clothes all over the floor and just piled onto the racks. Spoke with a manager and she looked at me like she could care less at what I was saying to her. They need upper management to do an unannounced walk through. The store is a disaster. Dirty. Cluttered a mess. No pride there anymore. Looks worse than Ross. read more

Fragrance department only: it wasn't a busy day but for some reason the woman helping me didn't seem like she wanted to help me much. She up sold me on a fragrance package by not telling I could buy the fragrance separately, first of all, rung me up, and then when I asked if I could get just the cologne and not all the other stuff she was trying to make me buy, she responded with "it's only a few dollars cheaper". I felt judged, like the reason why I wanted JUST the cologne was to save a few bucks? Anyway, generally unhelpful and high end. Not my place. read more

Today I came in to make an easy-going return at the home department. Yes, it was a large amount of items, however they were purchased 2 days ago with all the tags on and a receipt at hand. Theresa greeted me with a "return?" and I apologized before hand for the amount. She didn't say a word, nor make eye contact with me. As i stood there helping her place the items on the counter, I asked how her day was going. Theresa still hadn't said a single word. I continued to help her and told her how I appreciate her patience for the transaction. She let out an annoyed sigh and still wouldn't look at me. After everything was applied and I got the amount back on my card, I told her "thank you again have a great day"....still nothing from Theresa. I'm not one to complain but this really irritated me for the rest of my day. I recognized that Theresa seemed tired and impatient, but if she were to at least acknowledge me and accept my return pleasantly, I would not be writing this review. Theresa had me realize that this was not the first time I had been granted poor customer service at Macy's. I am forever a dedicated Nordstrom shopper, at least I am acknowledged there. I suggest Theresa stays in the back room for holiday shopping customers. read more
