What a beautiful store with the most helpful and knowledgeable staff. Overall, a wonderful shopping experience.

Wandered into LAPIS in n a busy Saturday (exploring the Proctor District for the first time) and was impressed by the array and display of their merchandise. Beautiful jewelry, Clare V bags and apparel, an assortment of price points and the staff was friendly. Went back a week or so later as there were some rings that caught my eye. Settled on one and purchased. Then, thought more about a different one and returned the next day. Emily, the owner, made it all seamless. (I wanted a style option not in the store but was available via the designer located elsewhere.) I was visiting the area for a few weeks. I'll definitely return on a future visit. read more

Emily stayed over an hour after closing for a private engagement-ring viewing for me and my fiancée, which was already really kind. When we arrived, she had some drinks laid out for us, which felt super special and celebratory. She was patient with us and we enjoyed looking at all of the very unique rings that LAPIS has, with its special connection with individual artisans. Many of the designs we saw at LAPIS were basically completely original, and our favorites tended to be more "organic" ones that evoked the fractal, asymmetric beauty of stars, trees, etc. Emily took plenty of amazing pictures, some of which we ended up actually using as part of our engagement announcement to friends and family. I love Lapis! I frequent this shop for lovely gifts and goodies and things to help make my house feel more homie. The staff are amazing and so so helpful, and when I go in I feel as if I'm seeing my friends (and I mean who doesn't want to experience shopping that way?!). I've been eyeing some gorgeous wedding bands in the past few weeks as I am planning on upgrading mine for something with a little more charm in the near future, and the team at Lapis has been wonderfully helpful, non pressuring and so much fun throughout the process. Terrible customer service. This place is for the affected hipster elitist, desperately trying to make minimalism luxe, with that particular strain of Mountains, Please! $50.00 tee shirt, rose gold detritus. I stopped in only for the curiosity of the person I was with. Had a weird interaction with an employee while looking over the watches. Her approach made my companion uncomfortable, and she's a physician and works in very close contact with people all day. I can't understand this place and their locked cases with their offerings; They're Shinola, not Breitling or Rolex. Go here if you think makeup should be done with your fingers and you like spending $200.00 to make your hair look like you slept on it. read more

Such a lovely surprise during an afternoon in Tacoma! The jewelry is beautiful, the salespeople are super-helpful and pleasant, and the layout is one of the best I've ever seen. I was a little sad that I already had an engagement ring because they were all so unique and tantalizing! BTW - We also checked out the Shinola watches, and no one told us that "every single part of the Shinola watch is made in Detroit." The saleswoman just said that Shinola has done great things for Detroit (where my fiancee is from), which is true. I wouldn't go pointing fingers at a random store that just happens to carry them. They had a couple votive candles that smelled ok, for $30.00 a piece. You would have thought that the store would have had one burning, to entice a sale. Nothing that grasped my attention that I would need to go back. I would rather have been told the truth about the Shinola watches. They have some costume plastic hoop earrings in their, not bad looking, but not worth $75. Walked in only because we had eaten lunch next door. Saw nothing that will draw me back in. The store is set up nicely, there's just nothing special. I did like the watches, but then to discover they are NOT made in Detroit as we were told. read more

If you are a person of color expect to be asked if you need help at least two times after the first time you say you don't need help. As a person that enjoys offbeat small batch jewelry this would be my kind of store to visit regularly but I just don't need to feel like a criminal. read more

I love Lapis! I had not been to this store in months. I just stopped in to pick up some gifts for the holidays. The women that work here are so kind and helpful. They have beautiful, high quality items in all price ranges. I picked up some great gifts for teachers, family and I had to sneak in a gift for myself too. I love this store so much! It has a large selection of necklaces and rings with the most warming and inviting vibe. Seriously, whoever picked out these rugs is awesome! Half wanted to lay down on them and take a nap. The girl that helped me out (i cant remeber her name but she had short red hair) was so sweet and welcoming. I was clear about not having intentions to buy and was just checking out the place. She was so sweet and didnt just abandon me for the next guest. Lapis, are y'all renting out this space as an airbnb because I want to live in it. Oh yeah and there's an adjoining Olympia Coffee Roasters, which hello(!) BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S dream unlocked and achieved! You get that croissant! You get that Americano! You get that delicious Communion by Joy ring. GET. IT. As a huge fan of Compass Rose in Tacoma and Olympia, I was SO excited to visit their latest shop, Lapis and I can tell you that it was ahhhhhh-mazing. Is it possible for a place to make your eyes sparkle like a cartoon? Is it possible to fall madly in love at first sight with a shop? YES. I have always been impressed with the staff at both of the Compass Rose locations, and Lapis is more of the best. One of the crown jewels of their staff, Em, is now at Lapis and I am so pleased to have her accompaniment in the store. It feels like I have a personal shopper when I'm in there, except that she understands my budget and knows what I want before I do. Lapis is the shop of my dreams. You want to get in there, try on those rings and cover yourself in every candle scent and silky scarf in the place. Lapis has high end pieces but they aren't stuffy about it, which I sincerely appreciate. Their selection is exquisite and I always leave completely dazzled. Worried about what your partner is going to choose as an engagement ring for you? Send them to Lapis and they are sure to come home with something that you'll be dying to wear on your hand for the rest of your life. So happy to be stumble upon such a local gem here in Tacoma! They carry a wondeful array of designers. And when I say array like really good varierty. The jewelry are more on high end so prices start a little higher but they have few that are very accessible with a much little budget. They are just scattered around the store. But my favorite part is the staff. Super nice and down to earth makes coming here so much more pleasant :) read more

The folks that work at the shop are so friendly and knowledgeable, the shop itself is cute and well curated! They even special ordered me my favorite Filson jacket ever.
