This USED to be a top-notch security company, and I should know, since when I engaged them I was the marketing contractor to NY City's leading residential security company - and I did not use THEM. Here is the problem: Vector seems to have changed its internal corporate structure. Perhaps this was the result of being "bought out," changes in technology, changes in management or just plain incompetence. Certainly, the concept of a hard wired security system for the mass market has suffered against "do-it-yourself" products like Simply Safe. However, the challenge of competition is no excuse for continuing medicrity. Start with Vector's "hold like" channel. After a 3-key phone pass to "If you have an ongoing alarm" choice, the 30-second long advertising pitch (ending with the ad copywriters prohibited phrase, "and so much more") repeats until finally, the caller is asked to record a message "for a return call." Nice. I've got an emergency and I've got to listen to a sales pitch and THEN leave a message? On to worse problems: I have two simple battery powered devices that continually cause false alarms, even after installing new batteries. (By the way, burglars of all ranks frequently CAUSE false triggers to convince the user to shut the system for repairs, after which, the burglars hit what they know is a shut down facility. Check out the huge Brink's robbery in Bucaramanga, Columbia.) On at least two occasions, Vector's Senior Technical staff claimed they could solve this problem remotely by "reprogramming my system." All tries failed. Then the told me they'd have to send a repairman and that the fee would be a minimum of $250, plus a huge hourly charge. This insult after they have taken my monthly service contract payment for over 30 years without a single need for service! So? You want protection that works just about as good as Vector, with low cost "install-yourself" devices that add such features as monitored cameras that can convince a burglar to give up, 24 hour access to view your cameras and other devices remotely? And a great system will cost less than the $250 basic home visit from Vector, the monthly contract cost much less as well - Welcome Simply Safe, goodbye Vector. read more

This is the worst alarm company I have ever dealt with. They rarely answer the phone, but when they do they will keep you on hold for over an hour without a single update. The customer service is so horrible, they have scheduled appointments to service their shitty alarm system 3 times and NO CALL NO SHOWED all three times. If you're looking for a reliable, easy to deal with company you should look anywhere else because Vector security is the absolute worst option available. read more

I was having problems with tamper alerts from my keypad. Chase Barnett was the technician who came to my home today to address the issue. Chase notified me that he was on his way, arrived on time and did a terrific job of addressing the problems we were having. He was very professional and helped with questions we had about how to use the system and provided clear instructions. It was a pleasure to meet him and I would close by saying Vector is very fortunate to have Chase representing them to its clients. He was outstanding!! read more

Let me start by saying that I am not a complainer. I am a very easy going laid back guy...But my experience with your company has me very, very upset. So here is my experience with your company. Keep in mind this is my first impression and interaction with Vector Securities. I set an appointment over a week ago for installation of 2 Bluetooth AC thermostat controls and a new alarm system. The first appointment was cancelled by a guy named Doug the day before they were coming out. However, I did have the appointment rescheduled and the alarm and 2 Bluetooth AC systems installed this past Friday January 11th. The gentleman whom installed the unit set them to 75 degrees (which I requested). I noticed on the remote phone application that the house was at 54 on one unit and 61 on the other unit throughout the day. They were set to 75 degrees at approximately 9:20am. I also explained that the alarm wasn't working and although it said "ARMED", it also said "ZONE 1 OPENED". On Friday a few hours after installation I called several times to ask what was going on. I spoke to the guy named Doug again who was out of the Fort Lauderdale branch of your company. This was the same guy that cancelled the first appointment I had scheduled last week. I spoke to Doug 5 times on Friday. The last time was at 4:58pm. I explained that my daughter (14 years old) and I were wearing sweatshirts and jackets because the systems were stuck at 61 and 54 degrees (as he acknowledged himself by looking at the remote application-see Pics 1,2&3). Doug asked for my number and said "I promise I got you on this, I'm going to speak to my lead technician and I will call you back in 10 minutes, don't worry, I got you, we will fix this immediately). Well, I think we know how this ended....i called back about 30 minutes later to see what was going on and I got the answering service whom said they were closed and to call back Monday. Doug left us without a care in the world so he could enjoy his weekend. I am disgusted with the lack of concern (considering there was a minor child involved) and commitment to follow through. In addition to all of the above, the system was installed in a way that damaged my door frame. It was a very unprofessional installation (see Pic 4&5). In addition to that, the installer also didn't use the same "new parts" for installation (on one thermostat he used my old backing plate and on the other he used a new one, see Pics 6&7). I ended up speaking to a Michelle on the service line whom explained that both Doug and the installer gave me improper directions on how to set the zone temperature. After speaking with Michelle the temperature issue was fixed in 2 minutes....but she did take my number and told me that someone would call me that Friday night about the alarm (nobody called and still hasn't). This by far has been the worst experience I have ever had with any company. I just thought you should know about how first impressions can be damaging. I was warned by neighbors not to use Vector due to the terrible service. I brushed it off and this is what I am now dealing with. As of today I still have yet to hear from someone about any of this. I am beyond thrilled right now and want to share with my experience in working with Vector Security of Fort Lauderdale! I spent a lot of time and made a lot of calls looking for a reputable company to essentially take over an existing security system and add some other newer components. I'm really so impressed by the amazing customer service I consistently received from Tasha who was my first and main point of contact throughout the whole process. She was extremely knowledgable on everything Vector has to offer in product and service options. She earned extra gold stars for her responsiveness every time I called and patience with my numerous questions. Tasha and her manager, Rey, put together the perfect package that fit my needs. They worked hard to schedule the installation as quickly as possible during this very busy time. The scheduling coordinator, Renee, was very friendly and professional when she called to notify me, confirming day and time. On the day of install, the technician, Jay, called ahead to let me know he was on his way with an estimated time of arrival. He took his time going through everything existing with me and what was being added. Jay was also very patient and understanding of my additional questions and took the time to explain everything. When I decided that I wanted to make a last minute equipment change, he had absolutely no hesitation. His co-worker, Danny, who is also a technician was able to stop by to drop off some different remotes that were needed so that I wouldn't have to wait until another day and even helped Jay for a little while until he had to leave for his next appt. They were both so professional, knowledgable and thorough. Jay stayed later than I expected to clean up everything, run tests and be extra sure everything was connected properly so all was good to go! Tasha followed up soon after to ensure everything went well and that I was happy. It's been a very long time since I have had such a positive experience with a company from one person to another... to another. Stay away from this company. They have outdated equipment that is two to three times more expensive than what you can find elsewhere. They have more modern equipment that they offer at a much higher monthly rate. Their monthly rates are twice as much as other competitors. They have horrible customer service and are not easily contacted. They lock you into a three year contract and frequently have billing issues and a lack of communication between the departments, which makes the solving of issues very aggravating for the customer. They send the customer a clear message that they do not care about you. They make it very difficult to cancel. In order to cancel, you need to submit in writing a month before your contract expires or else you are renewed for another year. The date for termination does not line up with what is stated on your contract. They are not trustworthy. They only care about the fees and extras they can charge you and not about the customer experience nor retaining customer satisfaction. read more

I'm giving this company two stars because the technician rod is very knowledgeable and helpful when I call and request him and also because Dough is also helpful other than that it sucks and deserves zero stars .I'm stuck with them because the community I live uses them . The girl who answers the phone is very unprofessional and rude . I only call because the cameras keep getting messed up on the app so I feel like they aren't good enough . I just think that for servicing such nice community why is the customer service so unreliable. Even when they transfer you they barely even pick up . They should hire more people if that's the case . I personally get anxiety being on hold or getting transferred from department to department like I'm calling the social security office . Terrible experience. read more

Since I started with this company in 2015 it has been a disaster customer service. I change home insurance and the new company is asking for the alarm certificate installation. I called early December 2017 and took two weeks to get and email with someone else certificate. Yesterday, January 2, 2018, I called Vector customer service/technical support 5 times. Must of all the calls were hanged up of disconnected. The last call I made, Tech support were suppose to call me and it never happened. Today, January 3, 2018, I called again and spoke with Jennett at Tech Support and within 15 minutes the problem was solved. I don't know why this company customer service is outrageous. I cant change alarm company because I am stuck with a 5 year contract. I highly recommend to chose wisely. I don't recommend Vector Security. read more

Had an issue with my security system it got unplugged by accident had vector come and check the system and I do have a contract with them not only did they charge me $30 gas fee but the total bill was $135 for them to come and check the system with a contract I believe that is heavy duty price gouging I am not happy with them at all ... if I had another company to go with and didn't on their product I would change immediately read more

Beware of signing a contract with Vector! I signed a contract on June 5th of 2017, and the service was activated on June 9th of 2017. When the sales representative, David, came to my townhouse that I was renting, I saw that the contract was for three years. I did NOT want a 3-year contract. I specifically asked him about this, and he said the only reason it's a 3-year contract is to reassure customers that their prices won't skyrocket. I then asked very clearly, what happens if I move to a community where Vector is not the security provider, and the sales person said very matter-of-factly "then you're out of the contract". Well, I have now moved to a new community where my HOA quarterly fees include community-wide alarm monitoring by Easton security. This community exclusively has a contract with Easton. That is not my fault. I called to cancel my service with Vector, but was told that while they would cancel my service, I would still be charged for the entire three years of the contract, regardless of the fact that they do not service my new community (because there is a bulk contract with Easton). So Vector is going to continue to charge me, which will amount to over $1,000 for services that I am NOT able to use, because I signed their contract, WHICH I ONLY DID BECAUSE I WAS ASSURED THAT I'D BE OUT OF THE CONTRACT IF I MOVED TO A PLACE WHERE VECTOR DOESN'T SERVICE. I have requested several times, from April the customer service supervisor, and Latasha in the billing department, for the General manager Matthew to please call me, but he has not called. The sales manager, Ray, left a message, and I called back and left a message but he hasn't called me back. I have emails from the customer service supervisor stating they will not write off the remainder of the contract because I signed it, and when I spoke with her to yet again explain what I was told by David their sales person, April told me it's my word against his, and he's a very seasoned sales representative! This situation has been horrible, and I cannot understand how a company could be so unethical. They are literally going to continue charging me every month for a service that I cannot use, and I hope this will not happen to anyone else because I am sick over this abuse where a customer was clearly misled in order to get a contract signed. Well after reading ALL the negative reviews, let me go ahead and yet another one. I started with vector 2.5 years ago... $53.95 per month. When I moved to another home 1.3 miles away I called vector to move system from old place to new place, and when system was installed I was told that we move equipment for free (not true at all). It is costing $99. Before the move I was asked to sign via email some paperwork, not knowing exactly what I would be signing I asked the gentlemen who sent it to me. He told me after I had to ask that it was a new 3 year agreement. I told him that's not happening.. they aren't upfront about what they want to do. The supervisor called me at my request and he heard me out and offered a very insulting $5 discount for a new 3 yr contract holding myself back from laughing I declined. I agreed to pay the $99 mysteriously appearing fee and told them in may I will be canceling them and going with one of many better options.... it's bad business to try and trick current customers into another contract without them knowing... you lose a customer for life and get this wonderful review as a constellation prize.... read more
