I would like to make four major points in this review, followed by some photos to illustrate the…read morepoor quality of work done on my second floor/attic extension over my Cape-style Levittown home. **1. Unprofessional and condescending** The initial consultation is with William (the son), who is very personable and sits down with you to go over concepts. After about three visits, they ask for a deposit and a signed contract. From that point on, his father, Bill, takes over as "the licensed architect" -- a title he constantly reminds you of -- and the project becomes entirely his. Anything you agreed on with William is off the table. Bill only meets on his own schedule. He made my wife and me take time off work three times and refused to budge, since he only works 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. He is condescending and disrespectful in how he speaks to you. This was supposed to be my wife's and my dream project, and he made us feel terrible every time we interacted with him. If you didn't use the exact technical term for something -- for example, saying "crawl space" instead of the correct term for the empty space or didn't say "rafters" and said "the beam in my living room"-- he would claim you had no idea what you were talking about. For the record, you don't have a crawl space in that part of the house; you have a wall cavity. **2. Poor craftsmanship** As shown in the photos I uploaded, several walls were not straight. This only came to light because the flooring installer noticed the shift in the walls. I also included a photo showing my exterior wall next to the newly framed interior wall -- they only insulated the interior wall, not the exterior one. Meanwhile, my radiant water line runs in contact with the exterior wall, which means it will freeze in the winter. When I pointed this out, Bill said it wasn't necessary because it's not a code requirement for the town. **3. One-sided contract** Demo work and debris thrown from the second floor broke my front sprinklers. The dumpster also destroyed my blacktop driveway, leaving tire tread marks all the way down it, which I'll now need to get resurfaced. The contract you sign holds them not liable for any damage like this. They did not cover my driveway to protect it **4. Unreliable subcontracted work** When they build a dormer or add a level, they don't replace the subfloor unless it's part of a new footprint. So if your house is 80 years old, as mine is, they leave the existing wood in place -- often the subfloor are cracked or bowed with age -- making it impossible to properly install new flooring over them. Levittstyle will replace the subfloor, but at an inflated additional cost. I paid them to tile my small 8x8 bathroom -- just the floor and shower. Not only did it take their subcontractors three weeks to finish, but the price didn't even include tiling the niche (see attached photo). I've since asked three other contractors about this, and all three said they would never walk away from a job where they'd been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars without tiling that small section. **A few more important details** A large section of my first-floor ceiling had to be broken open to support the second floor. This wasn't in the original drawings. I repeatedly stressed that my family and I wanted to move back into the first floor as soon as it was safe after demo. Once the project was underway, Bill realized he'd need to open the ceiling -- even though it wasn't part of the original scope -- and had me sign a revised drawing to reflect that. What I didn't notice was a clause stating they were not responsible for finishing work, including painting. Three months into the project, the ceiling was still open, as shown in the photo. Bill schedules his subcontractors across multiple job sites at once, so he couldn't send anyone to close up the wall -- let alone paint it -- until it was convenient for him. As a result, my family couldn't move back in for four months. I only agreed for them to open up my first floor for the safety of the project and the house for my family. The new drawing they made me sign included in the corner, no finish work (painting). I ended up hiring a painter at the end of the project to paint the entire first floor myself, at a cost of $1,500. A week after we moved in, we noticed a crack in our ceiling running from the kitchen to the bedrooms -- about 25 feet long. Levittstyle dismissed it as a "stress line" from the house settling, showing no empathy for two obvious concerns: (a) whether it's even safe

We hired them to open up the first floor of our Cape Cod, and they completely helped me re-imagine the space taking down several walls to create a true open-concept layout. Along the way they installed new hardwood floors across the entire first floor, redid our shower, replaced both toilets, moved our washer and dryer, and prepped all the groundwork for our kitchen renovation. The craftsmanship throughout was outstanding. The part that really earned our trust is they delivered on what they promised AND THEN SOME! They finished within the estimate they quoted, and they were remarkably fast and efficient without ever cutting corners. Glen and his crew went above and beyond at every turn. His entire team was helpful, friendly, and easy to work with from the first day to the last. I would name them all here because I've gotten to know them personally, but I'll let you experience it first hand! On another level I would be remiss if I didn't characterize the basic Wren approach as IKEA without the meatballs. The quality of most inventory is decent but not mind-blowing tethered to pricing that is commensurate with the baseline quality offered. Would I pull the trigger on a project with Wren? Sure, if I was preparing a home for sale with no thought to how the thing might wear in ten years but probably not if I had to live with it day-to-day. Just an opinion with four stars for being a price leading option.

People are out $10k-$20k+ with destroyed kitchens and no recourse. This is unforgivable. My kitchen was completed, but even I wasn't spared - my "lifetime warranty" is now worthless. And compared to the people left with half‑demolished homes, my loss is minor. This is a pathetic, disgraceful way to end operations: shutting down overnight, running away from obligations, and leaving customers and employees to suffer massive consequences. Even Spirit Airlines - a company famous for its issues - treated me with more integrity. When they wronged me, they refunded me. Wren did not. The CEO keeps the money while customers lose everything. Disgusting. Deplorable. Unforgivable.

My awful luck with contractors continued with choosing this outfit to be my electricians. A year later: There is now a substantial gap between where the ceiling fan should be flush against the ceiling. I don't think it's going to fall or anything, but its certainly not installed properly, and looks awful. The in the wall light switch they added that is supposed to turn on the light in the dining room works about 50% of the time. The 50% of the time it doesn't work you have to switch it back off, and then on again. not the biggest deal, but annoying nonetheless. I had them install remote control lighting. The lighting in one of the three rooms can no longer be controlled by the remote or the by manually hitting wall switch, you have to go the actual lamp and turn it off. And while they were upgrading one of the light switches they cracked the sheetrock they screwed it on to. Wasn't a big deal at the time, but in hindsight it kinda is since they screwed everything else up. Everyone is allowed one oops, but it seems that's all they had. On their itemized bills you'll see a break-out for all the works done - $45 for a light fixture, $25 for an outlet, etc. But you'll also see a $125 charge for a "service call" IN ADDITION to the itemized billing. I don't mind spending money to get quality work, but this isn't what happened here. This was over $1,500 paid for sloppiness.

We just recently completed our Home Addition/Remodel with Great Additions (GA) and we are extremely…read morehappy that we chose them.  We had a half-dormer added to our home, as well as many other areas of our existing structure and back deck remodeled, and all while myself and my family (with 2 young kids) were living in the home.  The work started at the end of November 2021 and within 2.5 months our project was basically completed, which was even quicker than the initial time estimate we were given.  Before signing the contract with GA, we were very nervous about such a big project and were hesitant to pull the trigger for several months.  The sales person John was so patient and friendly and understanding with us. We constantly had additional questions and "what if" scenarios and he always got back to us quickly with an answer, and even came to visit us in person several times to show us diagrams and pictures and other hands-on materials to help put our mind at ease.  We had several visits and quotes from other companies and many of them seemed like they don't even need/want your business, but John's attitude, knowledgeability and willingness to help was a breath of fresh air.  He is the sole reason why we signed with GA, and we are really glad we did. Our project Manager that we were assigned was Mike, and from the onset of the project he was always in constant communication with us.  Mike visited our job several times each week to keep an eye on everything and answer any questions we had or to look at the work that was being done, and ensure it was correct.  As with any construction job, there were a few small hiccups that came up during the work, but Mike and his company always made sure that it was taken care of promptly and to our satisfaction.  We even had a situation where an outside company that we hired to do our flooring, accidentally broke a water pipe in our livingroom ceiling which caused water to come through down into our living room.  We didn't know what to do, so we frantically called Mike at 7pm at night and even though his company wasn't the cause of the issue, he was quick to help us find one of their top plumbers who rushed over to help fix the leak.  I can't say enough about Mike and how friendly, helpful and available he was for us.  I would text him or call him at different hours of the day (early or late), and wouldn't expect a response for a while, but would be pleasantly surprised when he responded back within 5-10 minutes.  You can tell that he truly cares about his clients being happy with the work, and wants to make sure that things are done the right way and not by cutting corners. He knew how much these home improvements meant to our family and even when there were random hurdles that popped up in need of a solution, he always made sure they were completed even if it was not 100% mentioned in the contract.   Mike is the best and I would recommend him to anyone!  We were given a reliable timeline of what type of work would take place on what days, and they even have a mobile App that helps you keep track of the schedule, project progress, payment progress, etc.  We were working from home during the whole remodel and it was extremely important that we had internet access at all times.  GA and all their subcontractors were very understanding and considerate of that fact.  Whenever there was a situation where power had to be cut, or plugs had to be removed, we asked them to give us 30 minutes notice so we could prepare.  Almost all the subcontractors that came to our home to do different types of work were all very nice and respectful, and cleaned up after themselves.  Derek, an amazing carpenter, was at our home for several weeks in a row and is one of the nicest, cheerful guys you could ever deal with.  Us and our kids were always super excited when his truck pulled up outside of our house.  He did great work and always had an amazing 70's and 80's rock music playlist playing in the background.   He'd be singing along while he worked, and I found myself singing along from the other room as I worked lol.  All in all, our new addition and remodel came out even better than we initially dreamed it would.  You always hear stories and see TV shows about construction companies who do the wrong thing.  We were always waiting for something bad to happen, but it never did.  The budget that was quoted to us before we signed the contract, was exactly what the project cost (though we decided to add a few extras to the job).  The timeline was even quicker than we were quoted, and though it was difficult for a family with kids to live in a house that is having major work done to, I feel it wasn't as difficult as we thought it would be.  I appreciate all the hard work and dedication from everyone at GA and I recommend that you choose them too.  You wont be disappointed

We needed extensive work on our home and did research and set up an appointment in January 2022. We met with Mr. Artur Komov and asked for the work to be done in two and a half months and to stay within the budget. He delivered and provided more. The price was reasonable and the quality was the best. He and his father, Jay, as well as all of his teams and workers have now become part of our family. We received new or remodeled: - sub-basement and basement (two whole floors, gutted and fixed) - bathroom, - kitchen, - all windows throughout the house, - roofing, - gutters - siding, - patio, - cement walkway around the house, - electrical, - plumbing, - painted all the rooms, - closet, and - stairways. The reasons of why they are best are as follows: 1) Focus on the customer / Passion for doing the right thing / Hardworking teams - Mr. Komov and Jay have one job, and it is to do the job in the best way. We would spend hours with him and to different stores to find what is the best fit. His eye is amazing. d. Randy and his Team - We need to have Randy come in and do some support work. He and his team are exact, detailed oriented, and great. e. Plumbing - I love their licensed plumber Matty and his teams. They will show up in the morning and will take care of every single detail. He has the experience and the best quality. f. Electrical - Rob is a licensed electrician and a problem solver. He will work with your designs and help you get it wired together. g. Rana - He and his brother did our patio and cement around the house. They were amazing, so detailed oriented and hard working. They turned our backyard from dirt and grass into a beautiful patio. h. Roofing - Our roofer, Hammo, is now like family member. He and his team worked carefully and were detailed oriented in changing our roof. We had a leak that would interrupt the work. His team came and put tarps on the roof to protect the wood until they were ready to do the work. If there is a question, then he calls or comes immediately. i. Siding - Gus made our house beautiful and safe on the outside. We had dated and broken vinyl siding, and he did everything to replace, to fix, and to make it beautiful. He also was adjustable to providing beautiful molding outside the windows to accent them. 3) Very Responsive - If there is a problem or question or request, then Mr. Komov responds in less than an hour. He is always there and always ready to help. 4) Great Quality Materials / Everything is Included - Some may use cheaper material and not let you know or force you to pay for extra "add ons" once you agree to the job. PHR takes pride in using the best quality material and everything is included. For example, they use the right insulation in the basements, and took care of fixed additional items in the job. They are dedicated to making sure that you are happy. 5) They will stay until the job is done, and it will be done right - Finally, they stick to their commitments and deadlines and never sacrifice on quality.
