Cant say enough good things about VDG. Vinny is great. Did a large patio, outdoor kitchen and then added a fire pit. He has great ideas and willing to make changes on the fly to make the job come out great. I think his earlier reviews are not reflective of the quality of work he does. read more

VDG started work on my home this week and so far things look great. First job was backsplash and so happy with results. They're working on a stone fireplace wall now and can't wait to see results. They've been doing lots of work in my neighborhood and I've checked with my neighbors and have heard all good things and can see the results. Ask for Vinny who's the V in VDG. He's young but old school and seems to work with you on price and delivering a great product. Thinking his family has been in the business for a long time. Went to East Meadow Home Depot with his guys and they know him there as well. His guys are very clean and diligent in their work. They're quick when they start but I know he's real busy now so you may need to wait. Update 6/24/16 They just finished a cultured stone wall with mantel for the fireplace. Had to rip out the Sheetrock and put cement boards which i did not expect. Thought it would be a simple tile job but boy was I wrong. Vinny recommended adding lights and that was a great idea. His guys were efficient and prepped and clean up was done well. Added before and after pics for results. Update 8/30/16 VDG did full landscaping with pavers and patio. His guys are craftsman with the bricks and pavers. Took a little longer than I wanted but everything they did exceeded my expectations. Price was fair and Vinny will work to your budget. read more

Please run from this company. Vinny the owner is a compulsive liar and a con artist. He will fool you and make promises in order to get the job. They start off great and then don't show up for weeks. He will continue to ask you for money in advance. Once he gets the money he won't answer your calls or texts. They started our backyard in August promised to be done in a month. We are entering almost May and Vinny just keeps lying and lying about coming back to finish the job and never shows up. our backyard is incomplete we paid him more then half the job and we will have to find a new contractor. We had the worst experience with this company! Wish I could give them no stars! read more

I personally did not use this company, but I have a very disturbing story about them, as I witnessed something horrific when they did work across the street from me. I work from home and heard a lot of loud laughter coming from outside. When I looked out the window, I saw the workers swinging opossum by the tail and throwing it at each other. It landed in front of my property and I thought the animal was dead. I went outside and told them to remove the dead animal from the front of my property. They started laughing and one of the men started walking over to the opossum. The opossum started to walk away and I then realized it was alive. He then took a shovel and beat it to death. I was horrified. I called the business the following day and whomever I spoke with said "unfortunately that's part of the job to prevent the animals from migrating to other places and homes." .. torturing and killing an animal by swinging it by it's tail and beating it with a shovel is not part of the job. In fact, it's illegal to kill them in New York state. They need to learn to call wildlife rescue to remove the animals safely. There was a child in my household who saw this take place and is traumatized. Just so everyone knows what kind of people they are hiring and what is happening on the job. read more

VDG General Contracting & Masonry was the best company we've had the pleasure to work with, and we've worked with several GC's through the years. They delivered exceptional work at very fair pricing. Vinny and his crew are talented and cut no corners, and I'm the type of person who heavily researches what our projects entail. They just completed a 2200 sq ft paver project around three sides of our house and nailed it! Perfect pitching and dry wells throughout, beautiful porch work, and stone upgrade onto our foundation walls. Came out even better than we expected. They have the equipment, staff, and love for what they do to get the job done right. We had estimated this project with 5 companies and chose VDG because Vinny went the extra mile to spend all the time we needed day of estimating, answered every one of our follow up phone calls, and later drove us around to several houses he worked on (where we went back to speak with the homeowners who all raved about him). During our project, which they knocked out in a week with a big crew, my family members told me Vinny was on site every day, worked alongside his crew at times to ensure everything executed perfectly, and came back every night to give me updates. This was the first time in my life I was not stressed about having someone work on my house when I wasn't there. That's how good they were. Most importantly, Vinny is an old-school soul with contemporary talent who lives on and keeps his word. He's honest and good to his core, and those values resonate throughout his company. I greatly appreciate it when I get to interact with amazing people like him and his crew because that's getting harder and harder to find these days. We highly recommend VDG. Now we're saving up so he can renovate other parts of our house. ******** UPDATE as of Nov 2018, VDG fell off on his communication with me. Guess chasing more lucrative jobs won out over coming back to finish final touches on our project. I figure he did not make much profit on our job since he was overly kind saying he'd "take care of it" and not realizing things adding up on the materials end. I had another company lined up, and Vinny convinced us with his promises, and did a great job in the beginning. At the end of the day, I had to constantly chase for the final-step IGS install after paying in full (my mistake). That finally happened which was a hassle but appreciated; however, I was stuck fixing/installing the balance of items myself he had promised to do. I installed a column he had us buy, and fix what turned out to be two poor pitching problems (where I had to retro-install a french drain so I didn't have an ice skating rink as a driveway come winter, and elevate a center section of section of walkway because it was pooling, and caulk the new steps he installed to prevent water damage. All stuff he and his crew said they would come back to fix, but they stopped answering my calls. Weird because we got him lots of other business immediately following our project, and had two other big projects our friends were going to put him on if he continued to keep in touch with us and do what he said. As shitty as they can get. Known for that shit show he puts on for multiple customers/clients. Starts but doesn't finish. Needs to be a man as he says he is. Ignores phone calls, has other people show up for him. ALSO hires workers and doesn't pay as if other people do not have families to feed. Just don't waste your time with him you'll thank me in the long. Such a greedy, horrible, crappy, low life, etc I can go on and on but what's the point plenty of other people have the same to say. read more
