saying goodbye to Romeo before his crossing the rainbow bridge...
Esther W.

Though I have switched to another vet much closer and more convenient for me as a non driver, I went to VCA Everett for many years with various beloved fur babies that have since crossed over the Rainbow Bridge and I appreciated their kindness each time I had to say goodbye to a precious fur child.

I went to bring my tea cup yorkie to a free physical because I was concerned about a cough she had and wanted to figure out if it was serious when I came in everything was fine. Everybody was nice up until the point of getting her vaccination. I wasn't sure if my dog was kept up with her vaccinations due to her previous owner not knowing so I was going to opt out of the vaccination and get the cheaper version at vetco who also does the vaccines for my other dogs when I explain this to the assistant doctor, an older woman with red hair and black on the bottom with glasses, she was extremely rude and unprofessional asking me in a sarcastic way if I even had $69, which is what their vet cost to do a vaccine I politely explain to her that there's a cheaper option somewhere else that I go to get my other dogs vaccinated at that's where I will go understanding that by law they need to vaccinate my dog for rabies, but in the middle of our conversation, she turned to walk away and started laughing, saying that she was going to get her manager after 10 minutes of me sitting in frustrated silence I got up and I left. All in all the way she acted was very rude specially to a new client that has never been to the establishment before and it was very unprofessional.

I'm really glad VCA animal hospital is close by and that they have an exotic vet who sees ferrets. Dr Berard and the techs allways takes the time to go over everything, shes extremely patient as I ask alot of questions. They did a great job bringing my Clyde back from the brink of death. Thank You VCA Everett Staff

A neighbor raved about Dr. B and the new office on Friend Street, so I made an appt. (which was much sooner than the other place) We were greeted like royalty with a little welcome chalkboard with my cat's name on it. All the vet techs are enthusiastic animal lovers that made a fuss over Shaggy. We were brought into a sparkling clean exam room that had toys for Shags to play with while waited. Mind you-at the other place- we weren't even allowed into the facility with our pets. We had to drop them off at the door and either wait outside or come back in 15 minutes. Very stressful for the pet and owner. Dr. B came in and immediately got on the floor to play with Shags and give him a look over. I have never seen a vet go out of their way to make a pet feel comfortable in all my life. For now, because of Covid, they do take your pet to another area to do the exam, but bring them back immediately after it is done so your pet isn't stressed. Dr. B and the staff are reachable by email and respond quickly. They always ask about your pet by name and make you feel like you're their only client! You also get cute photos of your pet next to a chalkboard on their first and "graduation" (all first rounds of shots finished) visits. The difference between here and the other place is like night and day. The energy, enthusiasm and warmth of this office is how pet care should be.

God forbid your dog bark, the vet will instantly clam up and become terrified while faulting you and saying your dog is dangerously under trained. Not something you would expect from a place that literally is meant to treat dogs. Be prepared to be scolded about your choice of dog breed though you're paying for a service. Honestly, don't walk, RUN the opposite way. Any vet that labels a "breed" aggressive clearly hasn't no business in the industry. Any animal or person can be aggressive if you push the right buttons. ***EDIT: Obviously, based on the above it is clearly to be concluded that I had no intention of bringing my dog back here. However, Dr.Buckley found it a necessity to e-mail me to scold me further for leaving my honest review. Clearly, feathers were ruffled.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT ABOUT YOUR PET…read more Today I had one of the worst healthcare experiences of my life at Bond Vet - Somerville. Full story below. My dog has been a Bond Vet patient for years. Last week, he was treated for an issue that did not resolve with the prescribed antibiotics. I called the Somerville office last night to explain my concerns about his ongoing symptoms and was instructed that I should bring him in right away this morning for an emergency appointment. When I arrived, there were 0 other patients in the office - all exam rooms were empty, as was the waiting room. I asked the receptionist, Hannah, how long I should expect to wait and she informed me that Dr. Rahel Lungo was in the back doing paper work and would not be able to see my pet. I explained that I had specifically taken time off from work to bring my pet in, per the office's insturctions, and expressed my confusion that a veterinarian could not take a few minutes to evaluate a sick patient already sitting in the clinic. Despite this, I was told there was "nothing they could do" and was directed to drive to another Bond Vet location 30 minutes away. I found the entire interaction unacceptable. This was one of the least patient-centric healthcare experiences I have ever encountered. The issue was not capacity constraints or an overwhelmed office - the clinic was visibly empty. The issue was a complete lack of accountability, urgency, and basic compasion from Dr. Rahel Lungo. It is deeply concerning to me that a veterinary organization that positions itself as modern and customer-focused would treat a long-standing patient in this manner. As a result of this experience, I will no longer be bringing my pet to Bond Vet. To Bond Vet - I encourage you to assess if this a problem isolated to Dr. Rahel Lungo or if this is a broader reflection of Bond Vet's position on patient care.

They consistently have trouble drawing blood, and the appointments always feel rushed, like they're trying to move on to the next patient as quickly as possible. On top of that, the pricing is pretty outrageous for the level of care provided. It's disappointing because the location and setup are great, but the experience just hasn't felt thorough or worth the cost.

However, the pleasant phone conversation I experienced with one of their staff members is well overdue for positive review. A few months ago when I moved here I was in search of a new vet. My cocker Spaniel, Vinny , has some dietary issues as well as anemia. (Im sure you can relate to your furry lil friends as your children, so naturally I wanted the best care for him.) I distinctly remember her name was Jessica and if there was an award for phone etiquette she would be the recipient hands down! Our conversation started after her courteous professional greeting. Not once did she interupt me during my million annoying questions! I could tell she was actively listening to me and was engaged in the conversation. She was respectful, polite, always referred to me(and Vinny)by our names. I felt like I was being paid attention to and comfortably built up a great rapport with Jessica. She asked all the right questions and answered honestly! If she didnt know the answer she offered a great alternative. I could have not asked for a better phone experience and upset I couldnt follow up with a face to face greeting! If you are thinking about going to Charlesrown Vet and Hosp for your little(or big) loved one, I highy recommend it because the phone call alone is worth the trip!

But yes, they were wonderful during that time. So bedside manner is fantastic and they are friendly. Since then???? I'm so angry right now! Our present dog was diagnosed with advanced cancer and given a month to live. She was diagnosed at the emergency vet clinic in Lebanon (fantastic, by the way. Highly recommend). We've been managing her symptoms and keeping her comfortable. She's done extremely well so far but today is a really bad day. Because we live about an hour from Lebanon, we called our regular vet, Charlestown Vet, hoping that they could refill her antinausea meds. Of course not. After being on hold for about 10 minutes, they said that they couldn't refill anything without seeing the dog. This is a tactic that every vet does. I know, I used to work for vets and yeah... they want to see the dog $$$$$. But besides that, they failed to diagnose her cancer in the first place, something they've done before. They didn't think that they needed to listen to the owner (my daughter), who told them during her last visit that she had concerns. When we tried to get in to see the vet for follow ups, we couldn't get an appointment! Okay... we were fine until we weren't anymore. And by the way... my daughter found the antinausea meds online! Thank you, Charlestown vet for caring for our dog so well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't bring your dog or cat there! Seriously! It's sad that I have to leave this kind of a review. What is this, second grade? We adore the vet (Kathryn Peabody), but the staff and administration have become more and more difficult over the years. Our cat is horribly averse to carriers and drives, so it takes two of us and lots of sneakiness to capture her. The only reason we made this appointment was because she has taken to peeing outside her box and we were worried she might have a urinary tract infection. Yet they flatly and repeatedly refused to even consider checking her over quickly, although there was no one else in the waiting room and no one on either of the exam rooms. This was the last straw for us as well as them. We're out, and suggest you think three or four times before going there.

Other veterinary and hospital visits had led to costly shampoos, medications, and specialist recommendations, but Romeo was still uncomfortable. Dr. Olga took a thoughtful, step-by-step approach. After testing and several attempts to identify the cause, we learned that the bacteria behind his skin infection was resistant to the medications he had previously received. The testing cost money, but her recommendations were reasonable and finally gave us useful answers. Romeo's glaucoma is being managed with eye medication, and his skin is now comfortable. He no longer constantly itches or licks his paws. We're grateful for Dr. Olga's patience and commitment to his care, and I highly recommend her. Ronald Luippold

The office seemed disorganized from the moment I arrived. The facility itself appeared small, dirty and not well maintained, which is concerning when you're bringing a pet in for care. The costs were also much higher than expected for the services provided. What made the experience even worse was the attitude of one of the veterinarian's tech, Julia. She was rude and lacked professionalism, making an already stressful visit even more unpleasant. After my pet had already been seen, I was left waiting an additional 45 minutes just to pay and leave. There seemed to be little regard for clients' time or overall experience. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend this clinic and will be seeking veterinary care elsewhere in the future. I hope they seek training on customer service!

I unfortunately had to do a little tour of veterinary clinics the past few days, as my sweet cat Babs had a bit of a medical mystery that is now *hopefully* resolved. I'll spare the details, but I ended up at PetMedic this week in the late afternoon. First, amazingly, they have 3 reserved parking spots behind the building which were all available when I arrived. There is also ample metered parking available in the neighborhood. I had called ahead, and so the receptionist greeted us by name (well, the cat's name!) and immediately took him back to see the doctor (it was an emergency situation). They brought me into an exam room to wait, and as I was having a minor meltdown, offered me a hug, brought me tissues, and offered water, tea, "whatever I needed"-- which was very sweet. The doctor (Dr. McCoy) popped in quickly, introduced herself, and double checked that it was ok to give Babs a sedative and some oxygen which was needed immediately before doing additional diagnostics. I agreed, she left, and shortly thereafter a tech came in to get some background. I had a small wait, and then got a text with a proposed plan and high and low cost estimate. As soon as the text came through Dr. McCoy came back in and walked me through it all, why it was necessary, and talked through the cost. Was it cheap? No, it was emergency vet services. (If you don't have pet insurance you are honestly either a billionaire or insane. We get 90% reimbursed!) But I think given allll the stuff they had to do, it felt pretty reasonable. I got clear discharge instructions and so much compassion from everyone I spoke with. It turned out their dx was likely not correct, but they treated his symptoms appropriately and my vet a few days later said that their dx did make sense given what he was presenting at the time. Since we had a very negative experience at Blue Pearl Charlestown last year (the closest one to our house), we are THRILLED that there is such a caring and efficient urgent care facility within a short drive and with parking.
