It's almost impossible not to be curiously lured into Vaudeville with its enormous and shiny chandelier right by the entrance! This entire building is the epitome of classic and upscale /high end. From the beautiful outdoor building (architecture) to the inside (high end shop) and underground restaurant! I was mesmerized by that chandelier lol and browsed around but didn't feel any kind of friendly/inviting service! Definitely not somewhere I'd return, mostly due to the uninviting energy. Beautiful overall aesthetic though! I will give it a 10/10 for that... but sadly, that's about it. :/ Maybe next time we'll try the food and hopefully have a better experience! Visited Vaudeville during my recent trip to Fredicksburg this past weekend. Vaudeville was THE dinning hot spot so I was lucky to get a last minute reservation. Upon arriving we waited about 15 minutes for our table but were greeted expeditiously by our server. Food wise the menu is not that big & nothing jumped out at me but we decided on two appetizers, we had the octopus & seafood app for starters. The octopus wasn't my favorite but I recommend the seafood appetizer. We ordered the chicken pesto & Mediterranean pizza for our mains as we were unsure we liked any other entrees on the menu & our server recommended their pizzas, they were okay. We noted on our reservation that we were celebrating a birthday but there was no mention from our server on special occasions whatsoever, not sure if the restaurant typically does anything for celebrations but it was somewhat disappointing that it wasn't even acknowledged. Came here for dinner with some girlfriends during our weekend trip to Fredericksburg, and it was hands down one of the best dinners I've had in a long time! Would recommend that you make a reservation as this place gets booked out, especially on weekends for dinner. The restaurant is located inside of a store that sells all sorts of unique (but high-end) items, including candles, jewelry, home decor, etc. Once you take a flight of stairs downstairs, you'll enter Vaudeville, which gives off a warm but industrial-like atmosphere. We were seated next to the 'deli' area and was promptly greeted by our waiter, who was friendly and attentive and answered any questions that we had. We ordered several apps/entrees and shared them family style so we can enjoy a bit of everything. -Lump crab coconut curry ($21 bowl) - This dish came with steamed Jasmine rice and was delicious! The coconut flavor wasn't too overpowering, and it also came with a generous amount of lump crab. Would definitely recommend if you're a fan of coconut curry. -Beef carpaccio ($21) - This came with six thin slices of Texas Akaushi beef, topped with olives, capers, and a micro salad. This was really good if you're a fan of carpaccio as the flavors were light but fragrant. -Seafood gratin ($25) - So flavorful, rich, and creamy! This came with jumbo lump crab, shrimp, and crawfish tails oven baked and topped with garlic chili bread crumbs and served with french bread. So decadent and good and perfect for sharing. -Charred pulpo ($24) - Chopped octopus with potatoes, peppers, olives, all tossed in a lemon parsley vinaigrette and served in a hot skillet. This dish was decent, but nothing spectacular. For $24, it was honestly a bit underwhelming and the flavors weren't as prominent as I was expecting. -Braised Akaushi Beef ($44) - A generous piece of the most tender beef that melts in your mouth on top of polenta, roasted carrots, and a micro salad. Wow, this dish was SO GOOD! The meat was perfectly seasoned and was so tender. The polenta and carrots were the perfect sides to complement this beautiful dish. Highly recommend! -Duck Confit ($37) - This was another winner! The meat basically fell off the bone and was cooked to perfection and comes with dijon potatoes and spring greens. This may very well be on my list of top 3 duck dishes I've tried, including the ones in Paris! Definitely put this on your list to order if you're a fan of duck. You won't be disappointed. -Pistachio tiramisu ($14) - We weren't really sure what to expect with the pistachio flavored tiramisu, but wow, we were blown away with how delicious this was! The tiramisu was light and airy, but had just the right amount of pistachio flavor. We were literally scraping the bowl clean cuz it's that good. Just do yourself a favor and make sure you order this! -Creme brulee ($12) - Another great dessert option that we were thoroughly impressed with. You can't go wrong with this! Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Everything we ordered was phenomenal and throughout our dinner, we couldn't stop talking about how delicious everything was. This is a hidden little gem in the basement of a shop right on main street! The shop itself is very beautiful and then you go down the stairs to find this space which feels a little speakeasy-ish. Everyone loved their food. My daughter and I shared the veggie sandwich with the add on of chicken. We paid the $5 to have the sandwich split and each get our own sides. The sandwich was absolutely delish!!! We also had to try the legendary cookies and they lived up to the claim! We got a smores cookie and salted caramel and the were indeed very delicious. The downside - diet coke served out of very little bottles and you pay $4 for each one which is just ridiculous. read more

Regina seated us. She's a doll. Welcoming and friendly. Joseph was our server. He's outstanding. Friendly. Polite. The restaurant exceeded our expectations. It has a NYC vibe and I love it. The decor and atmosphere is perfection. Dylan, the sommelier, was the only disappointment here. He delivered our charcuterie board. We asked him to identify the selections. He told us 3 of the 5 items and then sd if we needed further info to ask our server. If he's too important to expedite food, then he should not. He should continue to pace around acting important. When others delivered charcuteries to the tables around us, every expeditor explained the items, without those patrons asking. When our wine glasses were empty, he removed our glasses but did not ask if we wanted another glass. Which we did and ordered through Joseph a few moments later. It seemed to us, he assess patrons. He assessed us inaccurately. Let me assure the sommelier that just bc we were dressed casually but appropriate for the restaurant, we definitely have the funds to dine at your establishment. This place was one of the places I wanted to try while I was in town and luckily I walked by it after lunch. Sadly I had already ate at another restaurant (food at the other place was disappointing), so full I couldn't try their special of the day but I did get their dessert. I asked the server to help pair the pistachio tiramisu with a wine on their menu and it was the perfect match! The tiramisu was superb! I was too full to finish it so I saved the rest for my partner & he devoured it in seconds. The dessert was creamy and the pistachio flavor peaks through. I stopped by alone and was able to enjoy the busy noises and great jazz music they were playing, I loved the dim lights and everything about the decor. I highly recommend this place, their menu options are so unique compared to majority of the restaurants around here. I want to come back everyday while I'm here to try something different. read more

My wife and mother-in-law both had quiche, while my brother-in-law had some kind of health power food bowl and I coulfn't resist the pastrami on rye w saurkraut made from brussel sprouts--amazing adaptation by the way. Huge portions all-around, the atmosphere and vibe was really cool, and my wife made me promise to come back for supper someday soon. I really liked the jazz-feel music playing in this place. Just last weekend 6 of us arrived in Fredericksburg for a girl's weekend. I did my due diligence and research, I am a Travel Advisor, and saw that Vaudeville would be a great place for dinner. I went on Resy to book about 3 weeks before and was placed on a waitlist. Luckily, the day before I got a notice that they could take us at 730pm for dinner. You enter at street level into a beautiful boutique and take the stairs down to the restaurant which is very classic, relaxed, chic, vintage charm. The ambiance was great, the service was great, and the dinner was great! I took a few pictures, but unfortunately those not so great I had the Charred Pulpo (octopus) appetizer - so good! Perfectly cooked! I had the Braised Akashi Beef entreé over polenta - hello lover! It was so YUMMY! A couple of ladies had the Grilled Rack of Lamb and ranked it in top 3 of grilled lamb that they have had. The food was good but do not recommend for a large group as they did not inform us of the prix fixe menu til we got there. I made the reservation request through the website as it stated for 6 or more to do so. When I made the request I had to click a few boxes saying we'd be charge for late or cancelation per person, terms of service, etc. I got a call from the manager to confirm the reservation time, we went back and forth a few calls got it squared away and I was sent a confirmation on resy. To this point no prix fixe menu was mentioned or written anywhere. We arrived to the restaurant on time with our group and lo and behold prix fixe menu. I ask the manager about it she says she was the one I spoke to on the phone and she said it was a box we check when we confirm on the website. I showed her on my phone the box wasn't there and let her know I made the reservation on a computer and it wasn't there in that format either. I asked if she would honor the regular menu since we had people with dietary restrictions that made it difficult to order off the prix fixe menu and she said no because on her side it shows the box is there so we were informed. Despite me showing her on the customer interface it says nothing. So my vegetarian friend spent $65 on vegetable and a truffle pizza. $65 prix fixe menu is a rip off most of the app and main combinations are cheaper if you ordered them off the regular menu and the prix fixe came with smaller app portions then the regular menu. I was floored at the lack of hospitality by the manager. The only place I see the prix fixe stated is on the normal resy page which you can't book a group of this size on or on the prix fixe menu listed on the website which you would never look at unless you knew you had to order off it. My group was severely disappointed as we didn't get the meals we had wanted to order as they weren't on the special menu. Many of us didn't drink cause we weren't planning to spend $65 on a pizza.
