We had the best experience with Vasile Flooring & Construction Co. We needed the oak floors refinished in our house. I found this company online and called for an estimate. Vasile was very nice and based on his reviews, we decided to hire him. His crew, Baltazar and Avilarto were the best. They worked so hard and did an amazing job. The floors looked better than I hoped and his price was actually less than I expected. I wish I could give him more than 5 stars. The quality of workmanship was outstanding. They were extremely professional and I highly recommend them. read more

Vasile and his team did a decent job on our home. The floors came out alright however we spent the past 2 years painting and sanding our baseboard trim to get the splashed stain off of them as well as our white backed wood on our stairs. The crew was quick and knocked the job out however it was a messy job sadly and instead of using a gel stain on our banisters they were chiseled and need to eventually be replaced due to the damage. I will also say i was a little pressured on the color we picked. Vasiles team laid out 4 colors and i was told if i want more examples/samples ill have to pay. Im not sure if thats normal but i remember feeling a little rushed because of it. Overall i wouldnt hire them again but the price was decent read more

Vasile and his team are absolutely professionals in anything flooring. I recently closed on an apartment and had a tight deadline to get my floors refinished (sanding, staining, sealing). He came over same day I called him, gave me a fair estimate, and gave my HOA all the necessary paperwork. Within a week of contacting him, my floors were refinished and came out better than expected. Do not hesitate to contact Vasile as I can vouch for his professionalism, cost, and craftsmanship. read more

Vasile's did a great job with a big hardwood repair and refinishing. Our sewer had to be replaced and required the replacement of big areas of our home's hardwood floors. The quality of the work is beautiful, they used the highest quality wear resistant finish with multiple coats, so I'm confident it will look great. The price was very competitive. I'll absolutely use them the next time we need our floors done. read more

Vasile refinished our floors from red oak to white oak and the results are absolutely stunning - even better than I imagined! He's professional, incredibly knowledgeable, and enjoyable to work with. Vasile is great! I had a sales listing I was getting ready to list and we need to do some flooring work before listing. I reached out to Vasille and he was super quick to visit the property and provide a reasonable quote. He also had the applicable insurance that the high rise required and was able to meet the flooring requirements of the building. He provided several flooring options and did a great job coordinating with the building and getting the work done in a timely manner. I would definitely use him again for any of my flooring needs. read more

We had a great experience with Vasile, as well as Luis and Baltasar, who installed vinyl flooring in our basement after we tried to install the flooring ourselves. DO NOT HIRE VASILE FOR YOUR FLOORING PROJECTS. We hired him to do a wood floor refinishing job to change the color and he completely ruined our floors, did not stand behind his work to fix them, lost a lawsuit we filed against him regarding this, and still has not paid his collections debt. After his job, our floors were peeling like elmer's glue before we even put our furniture on them. It was so bad we had to hire someone else to come out and fully strip the floors down to bare wood again and redo the whole job, which was not only a huge time and money suck for us but also will reduce the lifespan of our floors. We had 3 other flooring contractors come out to assess and they unanimously told us the issue was due to improper finishing by Vasile. Vasile was extremely rude and tried to blame us when we hadn't even been in the house or put down furniture until he told us it was safe. He ultimately refused to fix them or refund our money. He was clearly in the wrong as evidenced by the courtroom battle he lost; however still has not paid. He's like a used car salesman, who will say anything to get your business but has the worst customer service and demeanor of anyone we have ever worked with. Spare yourself the stress and disaster of dealing with him! read more

I briefly entertained installing luxury vinyl plank flooring myself. Bless my mother who said "get some estimates - what could it hurt?" Well I am so glad I did and make a great choice selecting Vasile's Flooring. I had three rooms installed, about 900 square feet. His workers are very skilled, and paid attention to the details. My home is older, so things aren't always flat and square and it takes extra effort to do a quality installation. On top of quality work, they were fast! They also went out their way to be neat, remove waste and clean up when they were done. I am thrilled with the results and can happily recommend Vasile if you are considering updating your flooring. read more

Love Vasile Flooring & Construction!! This is my second time working with them - this time to replace the floors in my kitchen, hallways, and living room, as well as replace baseboards and doors. I can't say enough great things about Vasile's Flooring! I recently bought a condo in a high rise which has very specific requirements for soundproofing and underlayment. Vasile was able to look at the requirements and selected one of the better ones on the list. When I toured the unit, I knew I wanted to change the flooring. I wasn't sure if I wanted hard flooring or to replace the carpeting. After my appointment with Vasile, he did not pressure me or sway me into the recommendations. I selected one and he said that the condo association's requirements would nullify the manufacturer's warranty. So I made another choice. He provided me with several quotes, and I am happy with what I picked. Not only did he come for the quote and measurements, but he also came with his team to work, not just sending contractors. Vasile answered all my questions. He and his team were polite, cleaned up and did great work. If you have a particular budget, or color or style, let Vasile know and you won't be disappointed. read more

Vasile was one of the 4 people I requested for an estimate. I got 2 estimates from 2 companies before I met Vasile. I had a good idea of the range of the floor repair job. He responded on the same day told me he is available the next day to give me an estimate. The reasons I choose Vasile flooring: -Vasile is responsive because he cares about his business. He is friendly and cares about if his customers are happy with the result. I really like him as a business owner. -Vasile offered me various suggestions for repairs and his opinions on colors. After meeting with other people and received lower quotes, I choose Vasile on the spot because I feel like he is an honest person and I believe $300 higher cost is worth more than the other guys. His price is very competitive. -Vasile provided me with insurance and signed the contract within 2 days to fulfill my condo HOA requirement. He worked with my schedule to get the work done as soon as his team becomes available. -His team showed up on time, super friendly, did a marvelous job! I called this a stress free remodeling experience because I did not have to worry and the great customer service is a bonus!! I will use Vasile again and refer him to my friends and family. read more

The misadventure started with water damage in my home. The old refrigerator had a leak and i came home to warped floors and damaged drywall. I needed help right away and called several contractors reviewed multiple estimates as well Vasile showed up the very next day, on a Sunday--when no one else was willing nor able to meet. He went in detail how the condo unit would be repaired, and we decided to make the most of it and install nicer engineered hardwood flooring, baseboard, thresholds, new areas of drywall, and paint. He was incredibly efficient and professional. Pricing was also fair. All work was done in a few days. I would work with Vasile again!! I am happy with the results and now the condo is back in the market! read more

We had three bedrooms stained and varnished. The colors are absolutely beautiful. His crew created our custom colors in the front of our eyes. Very talented and classy. Neat and clean. I had my floors refinished about a 1.5 years ago. The floors looked amazing and I was thrilled with the results. I needed water based finish due to my severe asthma, and it has not held up at all. I was assured that the finish would be durable in high traffic areas. There are scuff marks from shoes everywhere, which is ridiculous, and they do not come off. Very disappointed. **Update** Vasile reached out within hours of my post today. He will come by in a week to inspect the floors and offer a solution. I will provide an update if the situation is remedied. read more

I'm sure there are lot of flooring companies that would do a great job but for me that wasn't enough. Doing home renovation projects can be stressful so I was looking for a company that not only does a great job but also made the process as easy and stress free as possible. I called over 10 companies and vasile immediately stood out from the competition with his very responsive level of communication and attentiveness. I felt like I was his only customer, whenever I had a question or needed something, Vasile was there. When I received the estimate for the project, Vasile was the most competitive offer, that along with the initial experience and many raving reviews I decided to go with him. Let me tell you... Vasile and his rockstar team should win an award for the quality level of work they did. It honestly made me wanted to pay them more because I really can't believe they completed the project that fast and at that level of quality. I'm still amazed! I will recommend Vasile to anyone looking for a quality flooring job, I have no doubt he will exceed any level of expectation. We hired Vasi last year to remove carpets and refinish the hardwood floors before moving into our new home in Rogers Park. His quote came in below others, he communicated clearly, and his team was respectful and polite. A quality job for a quality price! Quick response to our request for a quote, and started within a week of deposit. We had our hardwood floor refinished; fully sanded, stained, and clear coated. Vasile Flooring just recently refinished our hardwood floors throughout the first floor, about 1000 square feet. The floor had been previously damaged and had waves in it from a poor refinishing job. As well, the floors had damage from chairs and tables. The crew from Vasile Flooring did an amazing job. They were clean, respectful, professional and punctual throughout the entire job. Terrible workmanship. The flooring is already warping and has cracked and beveled in many places. Vasile comes across as a nice guy but is a used car salesman. He threatens and lies when you question anything. I wish I had seen a review like mine, I would have stayed away. Don't get suckered in by the 5 star reviews. I searched on Google for someone to do my floors after every company my friends recommended couldn't give me the time of day. Vasile Flooring & Construction were the highest rated, so I called. I am so happy I did! He came the next day and quoted me a price. I was hesitant because I didn't know him, but I took a chance and sent the money. He and his crew showed up the day and time they promised to do the work. They did the job on time and per my specifications. Everyone was super patient and made sure I felt good about my choices. I stopped by during the job and based on that was expecting to have a bunch of "corrections." When I saw my new floors after they were done, I was floored (LOL!) They were beautiful! I sent him a message saying "No notes!" They took care of everything! If you are unsure or have no friends to give you advice, take it from me (your new friend), pick Vasile. I would be very careful working with Vasile flooring. After reading the reviews on Yelp, and seeing his work at my office, I decided I would give him a refinishing job for my home flooring. They did a great job except for 1 boot print left in the middle of the room. There was no sign of this being a pre-existing issue. I informed Vasile of the issue and politely requested he come take a look at what happened and discuss options for resolving the situation. I was immediately blamed for causing the issue. To quote "you must have walked before it was dry, that is your dad's boot print, not my workers" I tried to explain that the print was in the middle of the room, and therefore, it's very difficult to comprehend how it was possible for someone to reach that spot without resulting in other boot prints leading up to it. After understand this, Vasile changed the story to say that his workers actually saw the print when they were working on the floor, "it was already there when we started stripping the top surface of your floor" We never saw this at the time, but even if it was there at the time, I would expect a top notch professional company to notify the homeowner and come up with a solution before applying a clear coat polish on top of it. After much back and forth, Vasile finally agreed to have his guys come out and fix it, and he warned me that the finish may not be an exact match. My expectation is that his company attempts to resolve the situation as best as possible, or reimburse me for the work that was done such that I can refinish the entire floor again with another company. That is good customer service. In any case, he decided to attempt to repair and sent his worker out to repair, and what we were left was a severely damaged floor from where we started. Upon discussing this with Vasile again, I was reminded that I knew the risks, he rehashed the fact that it was my father's shoe print, upon again reminding him of the location in the room, he rehashed that his workers saw it there before they started working, and finally ended with him saying, and I quote "I am no longer willing to argue with a 20 year old kid with no common sense" . Vasile, if you read this review, I'd like to inform you that I am a 31 year old professional engineer, and this is no way to talk to anyone and treat your customer. You did a job here for less than 1,000 dollars, and if insulting your clients is worth your trade off of keeping that sum of money, I wish you luck because I like many others use Yelp for reviews, and I hope my warning is read by other customers. Like many of your other customers have noted, your work is great most of the time, but when it's not, you should not resort to hostility, insults, and blaming your customers for defects. Own up to the mistake and fix it. I mentioned to you that if this was not resolved, we will have an issue, that was not a threat, that was my pledge that I would make sure other customers reading this are aware of how rudely you treated us and would repeat this story with the BBB, and any other review site I can so customers are well informed. read more

Vasile just put relatively pricey Brazilian cherry engineered wood floors on our large living room/dining room. He was willing to work with us to find the exact wood we wanted. It looks fantastic and his employees were fast and extremely thorough. The work is perfect and we are extremely happy to have found him.
