They also talked me into changing the chain, which also didn't need to be changed. Their prices were sky high too. Additionally, it became necessary for me to purchase a new pump...yet another cost. Instead of going back for more abuse, I found Miller's. The store has a classic look from when it first opened decades ago. Inside the store, I also experienced old fashioned courtesy and professionalism. I originally entered the store on Mamaroneck Avenue and went downstairs with my bicycle. Martín tested out a pump I considered purchasing by pumping air into both of my flat bicycle tires. It was a great experience I'd highly recommend. After my purchase, Martin raised the big door for me (which opened onto Phillips Park Road). I rolled out of there a happy customer!

I visited it again on my weekend rides and the rear/downstairs was much more established and customer friendly. Having much experience with bicycle shops over my 50 plus years plus I was surprised when they had an advertisement in a Bicycle trade paper for a floor manager. I went in for the ''interview'' during Covid and was given a Half Attention dialog/interview with the owner and concluded they are guilty of ageism pure and simple. To make matters more egregious, i subsequently stopped by to pay a token visit as a customer to actually purchase a maintenance product and was given that same blank stare. I have urged all my serious cyclist friends since to avoid said establishment, especially if you are over 50 years old. Sorry to write, some people never get it or have courtesy. Ray K.

Reviewing your business isn't slander. And that 'clear sign' was more like a flimsy piece of…read moreprinter paper with Sharpie scribbled on it. It was not a 'busy day,' considering the shop was completely empty. Hence why you were sitting comfortably in a chair at the back of the store doing absolutely nothing. And if the music was so unbearably loud that you had to raise your voice just to speak, maybe turn the volume down. Yelp exists for exactly this reason--when businesses fail to meet basic expectations. You don't get to silence feedback just because you don't like it. If you spent less time attacking customers and more time improving, maybe you'd get fewer bad reviews. In regards to my review on a restaurant, (which you are weird for looking through my reviews)-Imagine going to the best steakhouse in NYC, spending a small fortune, and getting your steak wrong, but you just sit there quietly. That's not how things work. If you think I'm wrong for speaking up, maybe it's because you're the type who'd stay silent and let poor service slide. You must not be familiar with how customer service works in 2025. When a customer feels mistreated, they leave feedback. But you already know this because your other reviews highlight how rude you are and the lack of common sense in running your business. Your attempt to twist my words only exposes how little you understand about respect and professionalism.

Every employee there, and at their ski-oriented counterpart, Pedigree Ski (just down the block) were not only extremely knowledgeable and helpful, but also very welcoming, friendly, and enthusiastic about the products they sell. I would recommend them to anyone- whether new to snowboarding/skiing, or a lifelong rider. They also have an impressive tent sale, but I found these great deals a week or so beforehand. I couldn't recommend them more. If you're semi-local, you can search and pay online, and then go pick your order up. Of course they offer shipping, but I thoroughly enjoyed going into both stores. They have a massive selection of gear to look through, great prices, and are a family business- for anyone who loves snow sports, it is an experience worth having. I plan on trying to keep my future gear shopping local. I honestly don't know how I've lived in the area for years and only recently became aware of them. 100% recommended!

A week later when I went to pick up the boards one of them had rough edges,it felt as though it wasn't even run through the machine. Not to mention shallow scrapes that normally are filled by the wax, still were on the board. The employee there gave us the the run around of " that's just how the robot/machine does it" and when asked if there was anything they could do on the spot, he said manual going in wouldn't be as precise as the machine. So I paid for the machine which was supposed to be better than a manual tune, and it came out subpar?? But you won't even go in manually to fix and areas that are being pointed out ? I'm sorry but if I came in and paid $90 a board to get tuned, I except a level of service to be complete. Not a lousy job with excuses. After talking in circles with no resolution or reassurance from the employee we decided to leave. Moving forward I will be taking my board elsewhere. Would NOT recommend going here.

The name represents ~ Hickory (type of wood for skis) & Tweed wool (being the best insulation for the cold back then). In 1985, Skip Beitzel, who worked there while in high school, bought it and has kept the name and the concepts. I was so happy to see it was still a local icon and not much had changed. My High School friend and I stopped in to browse amongst the gear and chatted with one of the sales people. The store had all top of the line sports brands and upstairs on the second floor they still do the ski equipment fittings! It totally made my day! They also have a bike shop located on the same lot in a separate building. The shop looks like a colonial home.
