Lovely spot for happy hour and dinner. They only have happy hour drink specials, and no food specials that I'm aware of. Their menu is very extensive, so much so that I didn't even bother looking at it. I just had my friend choose since he has been there before. For happy hour, he ordered a cadillac margarita, and I ordered a sangria. Both were decent-I think the margarita and sangria were both a bit on the sweeter side though. We got the Molcajate to share. It was the perfect amount for sharing between the two of us, and we still had a bit left over. The seasoning on all the meats and vegetables were fantastic. It came with a good amount of shrimp, beef, and chicken. The complimentary chips and salsa were good as well. Although, I think the salsa was a bit bland for my taste. A little pricier than most Mexican restaurants, but you do get quality food. I'm a bit biased only because I lived in LA and San Diego-and nothing beats the Mexican food there. For the most part, this is a good restaurant. Good attentive staff as well. This would be a good sit-down restaurant for dinner, but not a spot for picking up a quick bite. read more

We have dined here many times and have always experienced good service and delicious meals. A favorite is the Carne asada that is perfectly grilled with a light woodfire taste. This place is huge with lots of room. It might have the biggest wrap around bar in COS. With that being said, the salsa is bland along with most of the food except the Pozole which is pretty legit. If you go here, the menu can be overwhelming. Stick with soup, the staff is friendly. Another strange thing is the amount of TV's showing nothing relevant. I would have given this place 5 stars just because the food is really good! And the salsa, too. I came in for lunch and it wasn't very busy at all. Took about 5 minutes before anyone noticed and came and seated me. (That took off some points) Chips and salsa came and it was fresh and delicious! I decided on a big combination #45 because I planned to eat half later for dinner. The server was helpful with suggestions as to what kind of meat for the enchilada (shredded beef) and the chimichanga (chicken) It arrived fresh, hot and very tasty! I should note that the chimichanga wasn't made with the big flour tortillas but with the smaller ones so it wasn't huge but it was good. I requested a to-go box and a refill of my diet pop in a to-go cup. And also a container for the salsa (it is that good!). He brought me a refill in a small 10-12 oz to go cup. I honestly thought he was joking because it was like a kid-size cup. (More point deductions here) Then when he brought the salsa, people, it was in one of those plastic cups with a lid and it held all of maybe two tablespoons of salsa. (Major point deductions here!) Seriously?! At least I wasn't charged for it. Since it was my birthday I decided to order a slice of tres leches cake to go (because I was full by that point). It was a little pricey for the portion size. And they drizzled chocolate syrup on it which kinda ruined it for me even though I love chocolate. That being said, if I lived in this area, I would go back but I wouldn't have high expectations of getting too much food/drink in my doggie bag(box)! Outstanding atmosphere and even better customer service. The staff here were very friendly and polite. They employ a whole army of people waiting right around the corner to assist. The food was delicious and delivered promptly. No abnormal wait times. Plenty of chips and salsa to temporarily satiate your appetite while your food is being prepared. The margaritas were equally delicious as the food. There is a whole tequila list with nearly one hundred tequilas from which to choose. Good Mexican food - upping the game for Colorado Springs. We had a party of six people. The quality of the food here is way above many of the Mexican restaurants we have eaten had since moving to Colorado Springs. I had 3 enchiladas (cheese, chicken and pulled beef) - with Mole sauce and it was very, very good. Refried beans have great flavor, as does the Mexican rice. Service was very good and prompt. My Wife had a Chimichanga, which she said was "just ok, not great." That said, she is very picky and so far has hated the other Mexican restaurants we have tried (about 5 to day). This one is by far the best we have found. I will definitely be back. We are no longer willing to give repeat business to restaurants that are just not outstanding. I got a medium Original Margarita which they listed as being a long lasting recipe. It was the worst Margarita I've ever had! Their $14.00 medium is the same size as every other restaurants small. They brought out one salsa which was too hot for my kids to enjoy. My kids got meals with ground beef; nachos and burrito. Neither one liked their meal. I got a cheese enchilada and chili relleno, both with green chili. I have never had a relleno that didn't have flavor but this one didn't! I paid cash and a 20% tip on the terrible food and margarita we got would have been $8. That's right $40 for two kids meals, my meal, and 1 Margarita. The waitress only brought me fives in change. I intended to still tip 20% even though I didn't find the staff very friendly but she didn't bring me ones so she got a $5 tip. I won't be eating here ever again! read more

It's similar to Pueblo Viejo restaurant. If you love that restaurant, you'd like it here too. Service is a bit slow especially for an almost empty restaurant on a Saturday. I ordered a shrimp ceviche which was tasty, and it was a full plate. I was satisfied with my dish. I also had a shot of Casa Amigos tequila, which isn't bad either, but wish for a better quality tequila. The price was more than its worth. Expensive. read more

The service was great and so was the food. The molcajete, while still very expensive, can easily feed three people, which makes it a pretty good value. The queso is great. Unfortunately our first time eating here was very disappointing. While the food came out quickly, it was underwhelming. The food lacked flavor, the salsa was extremely mild, and the tortillas were mediocre at best. I used the restroom at the end of our meal and a ROACH crawled out from under the toilet seat. Usually when there is one, there are many many more. I would not be surprised if their kitchen struggles with infestation. We will not be returning. read more

The food and ambiance was really good, the service however was all over the place pleas fix your wait staff, took almost 20 minutes so someone can take my order, had finished our drinks already then took another while for a refill. Then to pay the tab I actually had to ask a gentleman bussing dishes for our check cause there was no waitress/waiter tending to us was a different person each time they came to our table, wait staff was scattered get a little organized this place can actually be amazing. I'll give it another shot in the future to see if it was just an off day as I said the food and ambiance was nice and prices not bad at all. We spent at least an hour here but 40 minutes of that was waiting to place an order or to pay the check. read more

by far one of the best mexican spots you'll ever get in the springs. i go here so often, drinks are good & food is a whole different level. i dont know why there's negative reviews...this is my favorite spot to go to. they have a huge variety of foods, even for kids. they have tons of options, whether its chicken, beef, shrimp, or a mix. ive never had any dish here that was bad.. there may have been items that weren't my favorite but they were still tasty. i absolutely recommend it here. some reviews say servers dont check up on you, which is somewhat true, but that mainly happens because they are always busy. when they aren't busy, service does get better. definitely give this place a shot, they give you a free birthday shot too! its delicious and wouldnt wanna go anywhere else. read more

Summary: greasy Frequenting Mexican sit down restaurants in Colorado is a risky venture, rarely rewarding and often unpleasant. I ordered a 2 item combo plate, with a beef enchilada and Chile relleno. The beef enchilada consisted of greasy hamburger meat wrapped in a tortilla with a less-than-tasty, overpowering red sauce adorning it. Yes, it came with the customary cheese striations atop. The relleno was a culinary disaster. Instead of the nuanced taste explosion of appropriately light cheese with the Chile and tasty shell, the shell proved inordinately thick and heavy, a challenge to cut with a fork. Inside was a bad tasting, prosaic, yellow cheese--if I didn't know better, cheddar or Velveeta?-- that proved so overwhelming that I ended up cutting it out of the entree altogether. This relleno was tantamount to a super greasy hard napkin packing a bamboo-like consistency (hard) metaphorically covering up bad cheese. Lost was the delicate goodness of the Chile itself. The rice and beans at American Mexican sit downs can be the salvation, as you can at least fill up on them while avoiding the main course. I was hoping for this outcome. Instead, I could neither find refuge in the rice nor the beans as they, too, were just too greasy. I couldn't fathom ingesting this much grease. Everyone expects ludicrous grease levels at Mexican restaurants. This was just too much. The highlight was the salsa brought with the chips. The chips were also tasty, not covered in salt. If one ate this exact meal every day, they'd be 300-400 lbs in no time with a certainty of a heart attack. The place is beautiful. The location is great. The service was fine. Prices are about right. If they could get another chef, one with cooking school background and Re-visit basic American Mexican staples, they'd be assured of success. I left 3 stars due to the chips and salsa. read more

Usually pretty decent to good. But some dishes aren't great. I've been five or six times, as some of the food there is great. The pros: Service is usually pretty good and attentive. Anything with the shredded beef is delicious (taco salad, burrito, chimichanga) and the rellenos are great too. The cons: the flour tortillas aren't great, and I don't believe they're homemade, which is surprising, they have that store bought shelf stable taste to them. The beef fajitas are awful. The meat looked and tasted like it was steamed or boiled. Had absolutely no grill or color to it. The seasoning on them wasn't great either. Overall not a bad place to grab a bite. read more

Worse service! We were seated, but the waitress just ignored us and would not come to our table for service. She passed us 3 times and would not even acknowledge that we were there, we have never been treated in such a manner. I will never return there again! The floors were dirty, plus we were seated at a table and the seated were soiled and not cleaned ! They really don't deserve one star, but they did give us stale chips, what's disappointment.
