First time, probably the last time. This looked like a nice restaurant as we left the nearby Target location, so we went. Nice atmosphere, busy, and was exactly what we were looking for. Waitstaff was nice, helpful, and offered a few recommendations. I ordered fajitas for one, and chose steak. Things were going well, until my fajitas arrived. Unfortunately, it looked like a plate of onion fajitas because the steak strips were cut about as narrow as a #2 pencil. I mean, the onions looked more robust than the steak and I had to refrain from openly telling them how disappointing the meal was when it was delivered to the table. I chose to give it a try, and felt like I was eating the vegetable leftovers from an onion factory. When you have to search for the protein because it's but so thin, that isn't fajitas. If we ever return and I get taco cut steak on a fajita order, I'll shamelessly return it, or ask for taco shells with my taco meat. I really wanted to like this place, and it's disappointing that I had such a bad first impression. read more

Very average Mexican restaurant. Nothing was terrible but everything is faraway from excellent. Serving chips and salsa with the meal is nice but the chips are nothing special and the salsa is quite bland and watery. The choriqueso was the highlight of the meal with the thick cheese works so well with the chorizo. Had the Al Pastor burrito, the meat was fine but wasn't super strong in flavor. The overall dish felt very bland. The menu is so large it seems hard to find what dishes are actually worth ordering as there is such a variance in quality. read more

I like this place because of the sports bar feel in the bar area. They have lots of TV's and will put on whatever game you want. Staff is always tremendously friendly. However, on my last visit, the TV's and staff were just not enough. The chips were stale. The salsa was way watered down. And the draft beer was warm! I mentioned this to them and they seemed indifferent. They need to improve on these important details for me to return. read more

Whenever I'm craving a michelada, I head to Vaqueros. They have the BEST micheladas. Their food is delicious and reasonably priced. If you like spicy food, you can ask for their spicier salsa with your chips (just FYI as I didn't know this until I went with someone who knew about this)! So good. The portions, quality and flavor felt as though we were eating in. I called and was greeted politely, my order was taken quickly and when I arrived my food was ready. They were very busy, Friday afternoon, yet I didn't feel as though my order was taken any less seriously than a dine in order!!! We came here with a big group of about 10 people on a weekend and did not have to wait to be seated. They have several TVs around for watching sports. The menu is huge and there is something for everyone. Chips and salsa were complimentary but we had to remind the waitress a few times to bring refills. We got some guacamole for the table which was brought out quickly and tasted great. I got a medium size red sangria to drink, it was still a huge portion and I was glad I didn't get the large! The red wine wasn't too bold and seemed to go well with the fruity flavors. I got the green chile pork taco salad as my meal, a unique twist on my usual ground beef taco salad I get at Mexican restaurants. We were shocked at how fast the meals came out; even with a large group, the food still came out less than 10 minutes after we ordered which was awesome! The green chile sauce was good but could've been a little spicer. The chunks of pork seemed too big, it would have tasted better in the salad if they were smaller pieces or if the pork was shredded. Serving sizes were large and food quality was really good otherwise! Everyone seemed to enjoy their food and many people left with togo boxes. I'm glad that they provide vegetarian and vegan options here. I got the vegetarian burrito with guacamole and they added potatoes like I asked, it was good and filling. I also like that they do not serve food with lard and everything is vegetarian friendly. Portions were pretty good and the service was very accommodating and waitress was sweet. I invited my family to Vaqueros for lunch since I'd eaten here before and wanted to share the experience. The restaurant has ample parking and we were seated right away. Inside, the atmosphere is colorful and welcoming. The service, however, was slow. We waited a while before anyone assisted us but our server was okay once he arrived. We ordered one of the large combinations and a molcajete. I've had their molcajete before and liked it but this time it was disappointing. The flavors leaned a bit too sweet for our taste. The portions were good for the price, but overall, the flavors were just okay--nothing memorable. Unfortunately, one incident really soured the visit. When I politely asked for extra salsa verde, a man (not our server but possibly a manager, though he wasn't in uniform) assisted me but came across as rude. I value respect and good service so this interaction was somewhat disappointing. Additionally, pico de gallo comes with an extra charge if you ask for more, even though the initial portion is quite small- a detail our server failed to mention. With all of this in mind, I don't think we'll be returning after this visit. read more

We went to Vaqueros on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant wasn't busy and was pretty quiet. We were seated immediately, served chips, and I had to ask if we were assigned a server as no one came to take our orders. We never received drink refills and the waiter didn't check on us. When it was time to pay, I had to go to the hostess stand and ask for the waiter to bring boxes and the check. The food was good, but I couldn't recommend based on being ignored throughout the majority of our dining experience. read more

They have a reserved Superbowl Party in the bar! This restaurant has a welcoming appearance and a decent sized parking lot. We went on Super Bowl Sunday, not realizing that their bar-area has many TVs and is the site of a Super Bowl viewing party. So the parking lot was kind of full, but we were able to park, and be seated immediately. Chips and salsa were brought to the table with menus and we ordered iced tea. The menu is extensive, and we had trouble deciding on what to have. My husband decided to have the fish tacos while I opted for a combo which had two enchiladas and a chili relleno (because I had seen other reviews saying how good the rellenos are). I decided to try a small side of guacamole as well. We also ordered a small or regular jalapeño margarita to share. The ice teas arrived, and we munched on chips (the salsa was OK, but nothing special) and drank iced tea while we waited for our food. We didn't wait long. Margarita, and the two entrées arrived pretty quickly, considering how crowded the restaurant was. The margarita was outstanding! It seemed really large when it came and there was a good deal of ice in it. (I will see if they have a frozen version next time.) it was slightly sweet and slightly spicy and my husband even enjoyed it. The food was nicely plated for our meals. My husband's plate included the three fish tacos, coleslaw, rice, and refried beans, as well as some avocado which he gave to me. My plate included coleslaw, refried beans and Spanish rice as well as two spinach enchiladas, and a crispy chile relleno. My guacamole did not arrive, but when our server, Beto, checked back, I mentioned it, and he brought it immediately (and probably a little more than usual as a side). My spinach enchiladas were not quite what I expected. Perhaps next time I will ask for cheese and spinach enchiladas because these had sautéed spinach, and I think chicken in them but no cheese. But they were tasty! And the chili relleno was amazing! Probably not the best for my calorie count, but absolutely delicious. The guacamole was very good, especially after I added my husband avocados to it lol my husband said his fish tacos were good, but not great. The beans were very tasty as was the coleslaw. We definitely plan to return, at lunch, probably, and when the bar is not crowded and raucous. Overall, the food is good and the service was wonderful. This is the first actually good food I've had since being in Colorado for 4 weeks. Kind of insane that the food out here is very subpar and expensive. This place is both affordable and delicious! My 1st experience(October): 5 star experience, My family was so hungry + this was the closet Mexican restaurant to us at the time. We figured we'd give a shot + it was totally worth it ! We all loved our food, the staff was friendly with quick service + I couldn't get over how the decor was SO beautiful ! AND Thank you for still having reasonable kids meal prices !! My 2nd experience (December): We called ahead for a reservation but when we got there they said they don't do reservations? We got on the wait list , waited 40 mins, I finally got up and asked why other ppl were being sat before us, and they told us they accidentally scratched us off the list bc there were 2 "Jasons" and thought they were the same party. I was really disappointed bc I hyped them up so much to all my friends. Ok so at first it looks great, decor is cool and it's a nice building but wow. The staff is busy doing something other than waiting tables, they were rude as well. We serviced our own table to include coke refills and table ware. Then the food arrived and it's just sub standard Mexican food like you might make at home. Not much flavor. The food was delicious but the service absolutely terrible! our waitress brought menus and then never returned until we asked another waiter to get our waitress to take our orders. The food is Tex-Mex and not genuine Mexican food The prices posted on their internet page is not what they actually charge. I thought the prices were reasonable until we got the Check which amounted to $ 3.00 dollars more for our party of 2 per plate. $ 10.99 Chimichanga (online menu)....$ 13.99 (price charged) $ 13.99 Fajita Burrito (online menu)....$ 16.99 (price charged) I guess I had forgotten that we had been a couple of times before and didn't care for it then. When we got to the place we realized this I asked my partner if we should go somewhere else but we ended up going in - what a mistake. To top it off I had food poisoning. Within a couple of hours of eating there I had a bought of food poisoning - after several bouts of diarrhea At about 2:30 a.m. I ended up going a hospital emergency room. I couldn't walk in so they had a wheelchair for me. I had experienced bad chills - very dizzy to the point of passing out. They stuck IVS in both arms. They tested my blood - took x-rays of my chest. they pumped me full of fluids. At about mid-morning the doctor said I could go home - I was able to walk out of there. Later that day I felt kind of out of it still. The doctor indicated they would do some culture tests with results in a couple of days she said that I had "bug" I will never, never, ever set foot in that place again - it is very bad news read more

We waited 20 min after arriving for someone to take our drink order and then another 10 for food but after ordering food, it came out super quickly.
