I was excited to finally try this place! Ordered the bacon-wrapped shrimp. Made it halfway through my meal and found a hair entangled with the bacon. It was completely wrapped around the shrimp. After waiting for 10 minutes, we finally flagged the waiter to alert him. He acted as if he didn't see it, but finally spotted it and said, "Oh. That's not good." Removed my plate and asked if I wanted another one. Negative. He did comp my meal. I was surprised nobody from management came by. Anyways, I was disappointed to say the least. First time having Mamita's and was glad I did. My food was ordered to go but the decor on the inside was really nice. The host was great, courteous and polite. We love this place and come here often. I have tried several things on the menu and enjoy them all. My husband tried the fish tacos on flour and said they were really good. I got the espresso burrito and it was huge but very yummy. My only wish is that the pork was more shredded vs it being large chunks, but the flavor was really good. I love that the music is at a volume that you can enjoy the company of the people you are dining with I find most restaurants have the volume up so high that you were having to yell to hear each other so then you were also hearing the conversations of the people around you making it that much harder to enjoy your time there. We were out traveling today and decided to stop in at MAMITAS Family Mexican Restaurant. Decided to order a Chimichanga Lunch which came with rice and refried beans. Had the shredded beef for an extra $.50. Seriously worth it. The Chimichangas was cooked perfectly, slightly crispy. A ton of shredded beef inside that was super flavorful. A nice mild sauce on top . The food was fantastic! My teen said it was the best Mexican food she has ever eaten and she is a bit picked. Fajita were great - try the combo chicken and steak Molcajete Guadalajara amazing and unique Great spicy salsa, white queso was great Grilled chicken is seasoned well! This isn't a bad place to go for dinner. It used to be 3 Margaritas I think. Walking in we were kind of looked down upon with having a service dog as the host was asking the front end manager, I think that's who he was, about allowing a pet into the restaurant. Luckily though we didn't have any further issues. We were asked if we were OK with a table and we said we preferred a booth, easier with my service dog. We were seated promptly though. Pros: Our server Alessandro was phenomenal. Absolutely enjoyed his attitude. Very friendly and was able to help with the menu and give recommendations on appetizers and why he would or would not choose specific ones. Very helpful. We did end up ordering the shredded beef taquitos. The chips and salsa tasted fresh. When the taquitos came out, there were I think 6 or 8 of small crispy goodness. I ordered the steak street tacos and the chapala chimi for lunch tomorrow, and husband ordered the quesadilla combo. My street tacos came 3 to an order and were very good, filling as I could only finish 2.5. Cons: Took a bit to get my husband's drink and silverware. Also his quesadilla he said was a little on the greasy side. Even though he ate all of it. He did say it tasted all right. The reason for 4 solid stars is the bartender not having the drinks ready for a not busy place, and the front of the house hostess debating on letting us in with a service dog. Recommended? Yea, if you can get Alessandro as a server. We highly recommend him. Food is decent, atmosphere is basic, and staff overall is alright. read more

Luckily my husband and I made it in before the dinner rush! We got seated right away at a booth. They are taking covid precautions and are seating tables one apart/between and all staff are following CDC guidelines. Our server seemed disinterested in serving us. Everything was just average. Our drinks took about 15 minutes, food took about 30 minutes after that. We asked for napkins when our salsa spilled and that even took about 10 minutes. Again just average. The environment is great! The restaurant's decoration, the music, everything is so welcoming! We were having a fiesta in our booth! The food was probably the best/most authentic Mexican food I've had in the springs! That being said the fajitas weren't all that great. I've had better for sure. But the other two in our party ordered chimichangas and burritos which looked and smelled delicious. We have actually been to this place a few times. The service had been generally friendly and good. The margs hit the spot.... I've enjoyed going there, however due to a mere 10 second encounter at the end everything changed for me. We went yesterday (Saturday) the place was mildly busy. 10 min wait, the bar was open so we bypassed the wait and went to the bar. The bartenders English was so-so. We could order drinks fine, but ordering he needed help from the servers. I got Cadillac margarita and chicken mole enchiladas my wife got a Chalupa. They were good. The free chips and salsa were also tasty, the salsa might have been a little spicy for my wife, but I liked it. There was more than enough to eat. No room for dessert for us... we paid up and started to head out. Here comes what changed everything for me. A family entered, the dad was very visibly packing a pistol, on his side in a holster...let me restate this was very visible. (Not an official, just a regular dressed dad with wife and kids) I don't care if it is legal, this is not a 2nd amendment thing, this is are you comfortable dining next to a guy packing.... We are in Colorado Springs and for me this is not appropriate. If the restaurant allows this, it's not a place I plan to go. If this does not bother you, then the restaurant is worth a visit. When it comes to Mexican food I like to pick a place that is super authentic. We came in and the restaurant was cute, clean the staff was super friendly they sat us right away. But then after looking at the menu selection I was once again discourage, the selection was far from authentic Mexican food... The drinks were cold and delicious, we ordered nachos. Idk about you guys but I prefer nachos with queso sauce not American cheese melted on tortilla chips. All in all, if you are looking for a place to grab a good margarita or beer .. this place will have great ones. This restaurant was previously two other unsuccessful Mexican restaurants, so we hadn't gone back due to not so great history. We'll, I am very pleased to say that once we decided to eat here back in January we have not been to any other Mexican restaurant. This gas now become our favorite Mexican restaurant to eat at. Very underrated!! The food is delicious and the wait time is very short even when there's a bunch of people. I come here very often!! The place is so chill, workers are nice, and it's so small the employees remember customers. The only thing I can really think of is the refills on water which most of the waitresses never remember but when they do I appreciate it.
