I had a really good experience at this Best Buy on my recent laptop shopping. Unfortunately, my…read morelaptop fell and the screen cracked so it was time to get an upgrade. Wow I probably could've just gotten the screen repaired. The laptop itself was over four years old, so it was time to get a new one, especially since I use it heavily for work. On this occasion, I had been looking at getting a HP Omni three as they had a special at Costco but they did not have any at the warehouse to try. I noticed that at Best Buy they did have that HP Omni three to be able to try on display to see if I liked it. And I'm so glad that when I tried it in person I discovered I did not actually like that laptop setting. So thankfully, I had to help from Tarj and Maddie. Tarj showed me the Lenovo yoga two and one 14 inch laptop, which was on sale due to their 60th anniversary of being in business. I like Lenovo's but usually they're a little bit out of my price range so I was really excited because this one was like $500 off so it was within the price range that I wanted to be in for my new acquisition. I really battle between the Lenovo yoga and the HP Omni X 2-in1. So I made some notes, went home and did a thorough evaluation of which would be the better purchase based on my usage for my work and then also durability. Hands-down Lenovo yoga was the winner and actually the percentage was higher for the sale off and so was getting a really good deal as opposed to you could typically get that Omni X closer to about the price that it was being offered however, for the Lenovo it was solidly $550 off and the processor was made in 2026 so I was getting an updated. So I end up ordering the laptop on Best Buy's website using my credit card because with my credit card provider I would get an additional year warranty and that also include accident insurance for up to $500 so I ordered it on the website and opted to pick it up. Usually pick up process is pretty easy, but I think because this was a high-end purchase it had to go through some additional verification to ensure it was not a fraudulent purchase. Again on this day, Tarj help me by calling the verification center, and making sure that I can take my laptop home without having to come back since I was coming from the gym. I so far and really happy with my purchase and happy with my experience at Best Buy. I did sign up for their $29 membership which allows me to try this laptop in my home for the next 60 days which is a little bit longer than the traditional 15 day return policy. Check this place out all the staff there were really friendly and I'm happy that there were nearby and helped me when I was in a bind so that I could get back to work.

Extremely Disappointing and Uncomfortable Experience at Best Buy on Ray Road in Phoenix…read more This evening around 8:00 PM, my husband and I visited the Best Buy on Ray Road in Phoenix with one of our sons. We were there with every intention of purchasing PC systems for both of our boys. This was supposed to be an exciting shopping experience because we were planning to surprise our children with new computers. When we entered the store, we were greeted by a male employee at the door. I asked where we could look at the PC systems, and he pointed us in the appropriate direction while speaking into his headset. We were then assisted by an employee named Taj. My husband began asking him questions about the computer systems, and at one point asked if he could show him some camera holders. While my husband was speaking with Taj, I remained in the PC area with our son looking at the different systems. Shortly afterward, another employee, Lacy, approached me asking whether I needed assistance. I explained that we had already been helped. However, she continued lingering around me and repeatedly asking questions while also communicating through her headset. My husband eventually returned visibly upset by his interaction with Taj. When Lacy continued questioning me about the PCs, my husband politely explained that we had already been assisted. Rather than acknowledging him, she continued directing her questions toward me. Shortly afterward, two additional employees approached us and asked, once again, whether we needed assistance. At this point, the repeated attention had become extremely uncomfortable and felt less like customer service and more like we were being watched or monitored. The interaction ultimately became so uncomfortable that my husband decided we would take our business elsewhere. What makes this especially disappointing is that we entered the store prepared to spend a significant amount of money on our children's computers. Instead of leaving excited about our purchases, we left feeling judged, unwelcome, and profiled. As a Black family, the experience left us deeply concerned that racial bias may have played a role in how we were treated. I cannot say what was in each employee's mind, but I can absolutely speak to how the interaction made us feel and how differently the experience unfolded compared with the welcoming customer-service experience we expected. Please do not assume that a Black customer is unable to afford the products they are looking at, is merely window-shopping, or is there for the wrong reasons. You cannot determine someone's financial situation, intentions, or tax bracket based on their appearance. If Best Buy is going to promote an inclusive shopping environment, then that standard needs to be reflected in the actual customer experience. I strongly encourage management and corporate leadership to review what happened, speak with the employees involved, review any available store footage, and provide additional training regarding racial bias, profiling, respectful customer interactions, and treating every customer with the same level of dignity and respect. We came into Best Buy ready to make a major purchase for our children. We left feeling so uncomfortable that we decided not to purchase anything and will be taking our business elsewhere. This experience was unacceptable and deeply disappointing.

Incredibly, after I traversed the 30+ foot long empty, theater style line that lead to the lone checkout counter I found it to be deserted or possibly abandoned. I dismissed the idea that it was now self serve process not unlike the grocery store and waited. Then I waited some more and another person got in line. Then out of nowhere an associate appeared behind the counter and it seemed as though our long pointless suffering appeared to be over. Instead he immediately began rummaging through items on a shelf then quickly disappeared without a word. At this point, I began to try to narrow down possible explanations. A. This was a carefully planned and orchestrated experiment by Best Buy to gauge individual customer loyalty. (Perhaps future plans to reduce cahiers accordingly on a national basis?) B. A newer, crueler version of the old Candid Camera Show with the evil spin, that there's no humorous ending reveal. C. I had somehow transformed into a ghost or phantasm and was now helplessly trapped and unseen in the real world. I'm no CEO or CFO but even I know you can have the pricing, the inventory, the associates, hell even valet parking but a business model that doesn't allow for actual purchases is destined to fail. As I left empty handed the greeter inquired if I'd found everything okay and I told him everything but the cashier, taking comfort and solace in knowing that I was no longer a prisoner of the ethereal.
