UPDATE:No phone call yet 2.20.2015
Where do I begin 10.2014
I was in need of a car for work, found a used Kia Soul @ Vandevere in Akron, Ohio.
Talked to sale rep on the phone and the first thing they wanted was to stop by the dealership to look at cars.
I was hesitant because that is what they wanted you to do and get you to purchase right away.
I found a Kia Soul on their MANY Vander Vere websites since they sell more than just Kia, Chevy, Buick, etc. I went down to the Kia dealership that Vandevere has on Market street and talked about a used vehicle they had, but the 3 salesman that tagged team me ( L ,K, M) took their turn and tried to convince me into purchasing a NEW Kia instead of the one I was interested in. They talked about the life time warranty as long as I followed their Kia routine maintenance, but no one knew what the maintenance was, even the SPECIAL NUMBER on the Lifetime warranty Certificate, they had to DOUBLE check just to make sure. I told them that I needed to sleep on it before that I would make a decision on purchasing a NEW or the used Kia.
Few days pasted and I stopped in to the Vandevere dealership on Market and spoke with L. on the USED Kia I was interested in purchasing. L. told me the bad news that the used Kia that I was interested in purchasing has been sold that same day I left the dealership. ONCE YOU PLAY THAT CARD, YOU CANNOT GO BACK FOR REDEMPTION. This was a do OR die sales strategy I assume and hopefully get me to Buy a NEW Kia instead of the used one that was already sold SUPPOSEDLY.
I left and went home and called the other Vandevere dealership and asked if the Kia that I was interested in was still available, and the Kia was NOT SOLD YET, since I doubled check on their website.
I went ahead and purchased the used vehicle at the other Vandevere location. I was just shocked that Sales reps would LIE just to get a customer to buy a vehicle they wanted you to purchase instead of listening to what the customer wants. The sales rep is King, not the customer.
I spoke with a different sales rep at a different Vandevere dealership where I purchased the so called Car that was already sold, My only negotiation was finance and he said he could beat the quote I received from Catholic Credit Union, The way they beat the monthly payments was INCREASE the length of the loan and dropped the loan rate from 2.25 to 2.15%. THIS WAS A GREAT DEAL SINCE my quote was for 66 months for 2.25% and Vandevere offered 2.15% @ 72 month loan.
Few weeks has passed and I received a phone call from M. @ the Vandevere Kia on Market St. in Akron, Ohio following up with purchasing a new Kia, he was extremely disappointed that I purchased an used vehicle after all the free carwashes, lifetime warranty,etc.. I finally told M. that the purchase was from another Vandevere dealership so Vandevere still got the Sale, but disappointment was still in voice.
FOLLOW UP FROM A LADY ON SKYPE in California regarding my experience with Vandevere vehicle purchase, so I told her the story and she said she would notify someone in management from Vandevere and would receive a call.
My only call from Vandevere that I was aware of was a message left behind on our home answering machine in giving us a free dinner, per my wife when she listened to voice mail.
Lie to customer = free dinner. read more
