Vandals' service is excellent! Very hospitable and informative with appreciation of good foods and beverages. The ambiance is upbeat and pleasant. We enjoyed some great Brazilian rhythms yet, still felt comfortable in our conversation while those around us were also enjoying music and discussions. My husband had the Ahi tuna taco and grilled tuna taco, chased with a nice IPA. He was amazed by the delicacy of the tuna enhanced by sauce and toppings. Finally got to check this place out. Have had an eye on it for a while knowing it came from the Rock'n Roll Sushi brand. However not living in Mobile anymore, it took a little while to get a visit in. My wife and I wanted to try a variety of things and very happy with it all! Started out with a couple Lychee Mules which was a nice spin on a classic drink. Ordered Bao Buns with the Korean chicken which were full of flavor. Little on the peppery side for my wife, but perfect for me. Next was Birria Taco's with braised short ribs, possibly the highlight of the night. Had a rich flavor unlike anything I've had. We kept the broth to dip other things in because it was so good. Also had a Tia's Al Pastor taco(strong flavors, pork was a little tough because it was cubed instead of sliced), Hot Honey Chicken(perfectly crispy, great flavor, wish it was a little saucier), and Taco Bamh Mi(I think my wife's favorite of the high. Super tender, great flavors). Should also note that the wait staff was very attentive and friendly as well. Not once were we in need for something without it getting taken care of quickly. Upgraded interior is brightly lit and has multiple large images on the walls with painted chandeliers and a new bar. menu is an eclectic fusion of Asian and Mexican. Chips and French fries are replaced by fresh pork rinds which are delicious. Unfortunately, the appetizer and entree we ordered were just not that good. Appy was Bao bun with shrimp. bao bun was fresh and tempura shrimp was good but not much else added for flavor. so, kind of bland. Similarly the entree was bland too. we both ordered the OG Banh Mi sandwich which comes with the pork rinds. Sandwich roll was very fresh and good but pork slices were fatty and had a lot of gristle so very chewy. the sandwich dressing was a bit of cole slaw and jalapeño slices. The aoli was spread very thin and was bland, too. Overall we were disappointed with our meal and won't return. read more

Two of my cousins and I went out to try a new spot, just to see if it would be a new meeting place for us. The ambience and scenery and drinks are really NICE! It's new so, it's different and we really liked that. I ordered their infamous wontons and short ribs. My cousins ordered the egg rolls and chicken wings with Korean sauce. The egg rolls are just......edible.....I pulled one of my wontons apart and wasn't impressed so I sent my wontons back (I should've read the description instead of trusting the server). The menu is VERY limited. But that can be negotiable. The food everyone else ordered, took a good minute to come out but it was no big deal. They were busy. The place was packed. I'm thinking It's a new spot, no problem. Here's what baffled me: It's comical how ignorantly rude the "manager" or whoever she was, was. She had the AUDACITY to say "we're not going to try food and send it back, are we ladies? I mean, what are we doing?" I told her we weren't and that it wasn't appetizing to my cousin. My other cousin is content with her food. My food hasn't come out. This person didn't want to take the food back so she kept sliding it back on the table in front of our cousin who was content with her meal and insisted on her to eat it and looked at her up and down and said "I'm sure she'll eat it" (mind you, we're plus size). We were so outdone that we paid for our appetizers and drinks that we did manage to receive and left. I thought of an explanation as to why she said what she said and assumed that there were individuals who came in before us and tried food and sent it back (just giving this person the benefit of the doubt). BUT.... IF this were true, why ASSUME that a completely different group of people would do the same thing ON TOP OF insulting one of us? I had been wanting to try Vandal's since it opened as I thought the menu looked inventive and unique, but it was a huge disappointment. Their menu is much smaller than what was posted online - I think there were maybe 3-4 main entrees, and then the tacos and banh mi. I specifically went for the birria pho and they did not have it. My husband ordered the shrimp fried rice and I ended up with the hot honey chicken and neither one of us liked our meal. The chicken had no sauce or discernable hot or honey flavor, and was extremely crunchy and dark to the point where it was almost inedible. It came with a side of fried rice which was fine, but my husband felt the shrimp in his rice was low quality and rubbery. The atmosphere is nice and service was fine, but it was super overpriced for the food quality (makes me wonder if the aesthetic is top priority and not the food itself). At this point neither one of us would want to go back and I felt horrible having spent close to $50 when we left so much of the food. read more

Honest review: would I spend my money here again? Probably not. It may sound harsh but hear me out. Walking in, the layout just doesn't work for the space. It gets crowded and congested too easily and there is not a designated host stand. I was literally in another person's personal space while waiting on a table. After sitting down, the food took forever to arrive, and was mediocre at best. I can say, the drinks were good. The chicken bang bao was flavorful but needed more sauce. Same as the veggie tacos, they were alright but needed more seasoning. I also think that the portions were a bit small for the price but that could be an inflation problem. This meal was almost $50 for 2 people that didn't order much. I would say it's a nice vibe on a not so busy night. read more
