The decorations were Asian and Latin-inspired, with vibrant colors. I love the lighting and the seating arrangements. If you're looking for a spot in Mobile with bold vibes and creative bites, Pandals is it. The atmosphere is super cool modern, graffiti-covered, a little grunge, but in a really stylish and pretty way. The service was great the girls in there were nice and Emma was so patient with me, because I can be indecisive. The food was a mixed bag for me, but the highs were high!!! The fried dumplings were crispy and flavorful with great dipping sauces. The Korean Chicken Bao Taco? Absolute 10/10 juicy, flavorful, and the kind of dish you'd come back for. The ramen was just okay. I like mine with more seasoning and a little more meat, so I ended up taking it home to spruce it up. Not bad, just not my standout. Oh yeah, I tried the Pumpkin Spice Latte with Caramel cold foam. It was a unique drink for me but very refreshing! Feel like there are not many places outside of downtown mobile that have a good cocktail menu and this one does. Very eclectic and good. We came for lunch and got the chorizo rangoons (I could eat 20) these were my favorite menu item. The chicken dumplings were fantastic and came with a red curry dipping sauce that packed the punch. This place is a delight to all the senses. It's so colorful in this cozy spot. I loved all the murals and chandeliers. All the servers were delightful and friendly. Now the food..the portions are large and the food was delicious. It is a fusion spot and it did not disappoint! So I tried Vandals Street Kitchen. I can't remember the name of the restaurant that was at this location previous to Vandals but I wanted to try it as well. I don't know what made me want to go there but it might have been the name alone. I also like the color scheme in their signage. Whatever it was I'm glad I did. There's always a dilemma when trying a new restaurant. I want to try everything on the menu that sounds good. Vandals has plenty to choose from. They had appetizers like street corn, pot stickers, egg rolls, and even chorizo wontons. I have to try the chorizo wontons next time. They also had sticky short rib, El Pastoritto, and Korean fajitas for main dishes. Add Korean fajitas to the list for next time. I ended up selecting the hot honey chicken. For some reason hot honey chicken seems to be the craze nowadays. I had been seeing hot honey sauces in grocery stores I frequent lately and I decided to get initiated. I ordered online and the wait time indicated it would be at least 30 minutes. As I was driving to pick up my order I received a text that said my order was ready. My order was ready 10 minutes earlier than expected. When I arrived at Vandals the parking lot was full. I had to park in this kind of service road in front of the restaurant. Full parking lots are usually a good sign that the food is really good. The place was packed when I got inside. The outdoor area was filled up too. I couldn't wait to try my food. I'll say the food did not disappoint. The hot honey chicken came with either fried or white rice and pickled vegetables. I did the fried rice. It was delicious along with the pickled vegetables. My only gripe is that I wish there were more pickled vegetables. Now the chicken was really a delight. It was fried especially well. It had a nice crunch to it. The meat was very tender. It was a juicy chicken breast that had lots of flavor. I loved how the sweetness and spiciness complimented each other. It was not overly spicy or overly sweet. It was perfect. Vandals is a super stylish (great art on the walls) hidden gem (literally, because it's a little hard to see from the road & we passed the entrance to the parking lot on our first try). We were visiting from Miami for Mardi Gras & struggling to find a place with good vegetarian options for my brother. He suggested Vandals bc he saw they had a veggie taco on the menu (which he said was epic), and it turned out to be a great experience for all of us. The birria tacos & "red light district" ramen were some of the best we've EVER had. They had a full bar & some good beers (more local options on tap would be even better) & the staff were friendly. Super impressed & a little surprised it wasn't more crowded on a Friday evening. I really do try to go out of my way to support good local spots, and since this one is still getting on its feet I'm not going to be too harsh. We dined here for the first time last night, a Friday. Arrived around 7 and wasn't expecting it to be so packed, but the wait wasn't too long. During really busy hours can also lend to a less than stellar experience so I'm factoring that in as well. The atmosphere is really modern and cool. It's small though, and with so many people it gets very loud. When our name was called, the only seating were two stools at the bar, not what I had hoped for our evening out, but it is what it is. The first thing I look at when evaluating a restaurant is their beer selection, and I do have to be honest here that the only beers on offer, except one, are all mass produced industrial products, and the single microbrew was an IPA So ended up settling for a brand of beer-water that happens to be stocked here in cans. The can was brought and sat in front of me. Not opened, no glass, no napkin. I don't expect every restaurant or bar to employ a beer cicerone, but still. From what I could see of the wines, they were the typical lower priced variety most every restaurant serves. We ordered two appetizers as we continued to look over the entrees. We had chorizo wontons and fried chicken wings coated in gochujang sauce. Both were very good, but I do have to point out that if I had tried the chorizo wontons not knowing what they were, I would have never known chorizo was a component. They are filled with cheese and served with a cheese sauce for dipping. Very tasty, just no discernible chorizo flavor and the double cheese factor is redundant. A creamy cilantro-ginger dip would have paired amazingly. The chicken was hot, juicy, crispy, plump, and just spicy enough. I almost want to go back and see if I can try them fried and not tossed in sauce but with the sauce served on the side to appreciate the flavor of the chicken with the gochujang as an accent rather than so pronounced. But they were still good they way the kitchen makes them. Try them! All said and done, it was a busy night for the wait staff and kitchen and the dining room was very loud so we opted to leave after the appetizers and beer, but we'll be back on a slower day and I'll update this critique accordingly. This review is specifically about the food and not the whole atmosphere of the restaurant as I ordered through DoorDash. But even great atmosphere won't make up for the food I received. I ordered the Red Light district ramen for $20 dollars, now good ramen at that price point I would say is totally justified, however, this was not it. The noodles were absolutely disgusting, it tasted like raw dough, you can't even separate the strands so it was just one raw blob, I had to push it aside in fear that it might make me sick. The "broth", if you can even call if that, tastes like if someone took supermarket pork broth and dumped in a ton of soy sauce and garlic flavoring, it is extremely overwhelming and unpleasant. The only thing worth eating in this ramen was the chashu, but that's pretty hard to mess that up unless you were using old meat. So one star goes to the chashu and one goes to the fact that I did not visit in person. And after this experience, I definitely won't be ever. read more

I went out to eat here after work with co-workers. We tried a variety of appetizers. (I forgot the names of them, sorry, but they were different and tasty). I ordered the Hong Kong wings, pickled vegetables, and shrimp fried rice. Plenty of leftovers to say the least. The atmosphere is very cool. I've heard a lot of hype about this place so I had to check it out. The interior definitely stand out when you walk in. I think the best part of the inside is the bar area for me. I honestly enjoyed the appetizers more than the entrees. I was looking forward to the street tacos but they were quite disappointing. I ordered 3 different tacos and my favorite one was the fish taco. The Banh Mi taco, the meat was so dry and overcooked and same for Tia's Al Pastor.
