Great service and great food for a new restaurant. Be sure to visit and enjoy their wine and food in Warwick, RI.

So disappointed! Tasty food, but small portions, and very high prices. $5.00 for a cup of coffee!!! Never again... read more

Food is outstanding. It reminds me of a trattoria in Italy. Small but lively atmosphere. Excellent wine selection. Authentic Italian cuisine. read more

Nice quaint local eating establishment. Nothing fancy but the food is 6 star. Parking is tough as it's on a corner lot. Be careful going in and out. read more

Good quality food but small portions for the price. The homemade gnocchi were nice & lite. However the service was horrible. Waiter never told us the specials and never checked on us. Restaurant is small so I suggest making a reservation. read more

Excellent meal at Vanda - would highly recommend to all my family and friends. One of the best Italian meals I've had in a long time. Everything from the food to the cocktails to the service was fantastic. Great menu, tried many plates because we had a large group and each one was amazing - especially the house-made pastas. My family will definitely be returning. read more

After hearing so many good things about this place we decided to give it a try. We tried placing reservations but was only able to add our name to the wait list via their web site. When we entered the our name on their web based program we received a acknowledgement text back. As we were waiting i tried to call a couple of times to ensure that we were indeed in the wait que only to get an answering machine both times. After waiting over an hour for another text we decided to drive back over and see what was going on. The young hostess stated that the online system wasn't working and we would have to wait an additional half an hour. I politely stated "no" here is our acknowledgement text receipt and we will either be seated in one of your empty tables else we will go elsewhere. She then went to the manager whom decided we could be seated. After another 10 minutes we were seated outside. At this point we are basically starving and wanted to place our order. Once the wait staff finally came around to take our drink order, we also placed our food order. For drinks I order a Tito's club soda and splash of cranberry and my wife orders a Nigroni. I get a Tito's and club soda. I ask "where is the cranberry". the wait staff states it was her mistake and in-lieu of bringing my drink back she bring me a shot glass of cranberry. So now i have a full glass of Tito's and soda and a shot of cranberry. The apps were excellent The 2nd round of drinks they brought me out a Tito's and soda with a shot glass of cranberry. I asked the waiter "seriously." He stated he wasn't sure what i wanted. Then he should have asked. Now comes dinner (30 minutes after we finished the apps)- My wife has a salad with salmon. This is the first time i have seen the salmon served skin side up but what ever. The salmon was well over cooked but she managed. I had bolognese with Gnocchi, some how they burnt the bottoms of the Gnoochi. I mean chard burnt. How the hell do you burn pasta? So i start picking out the pieces that aren't burnt. Now i'm seating there with a half dish of burnt Gnoochi's. The wait staff never once during the course came outside until the end. At that point we had been at the table for almost 2 hours. They started taking the dishes away and then asked "how was it". I again politely said "it is burnt". (i wish i took a picture of the Gnoochi's because words do not do justice). The new waiter apologized and as you can see we are extremely busy and under staffed tonight. As i looking from outside into the dinning room I wanted to say "yes, i can see that in this Covid era you have a packed dinning room with people elbow to elbow and basically not following the Covid practice." Now I my view 2 skilled wait staff people could have easily handle the entire restaurant without missing a beat. So the excuse they were shorthanded was week. But if they were short handed why didn't the hostess or the owner help out the wait staff. The owner was at the bar watching dishes on tables pile and his wait staff running around like chickens with there heads cut off. Side note: the table next to ours had there credit card charged with another table's meal. The charge was only a few dollars more then their meal so they said leave the charge the way it was. Very unimpressed read more

Very good Italian restaurant, went with my wife, had a couple glasses of wine an appetizer, two pasta plates, gnocchi and a pasta dish, sorbet about 100 bucks. Recommended read more

Small intimate restaurant. Terrific food great staff. The menu had dishes I never had before. Loved the place.

One of my favorite restaurants in RI. Everything on the menu is delicious. The pastas are some of my favorite dishes to order. The focaccia is a must!! read more

Amazing food! Better than any I've had on federal hill by far! I'm very picky because my mom is from France and Italy so I almost never taste better food than hers, but this was great and will definitely go again! There is something for everyone (I'm a vegetarian). The waitress was super nice and funny and a great experience! read more

What a great experience! I had heard wonderful things so I was expecting no less, and wasn't disappointed. Patrick served me at the bar and suggested a terrific wine for me after I described what I like. I also asked his suggestions on dinner since I wasn't sure what to order, this being my first time in. The gnocchi was suggested and I went for it since I had seen reviews saying it was outstanding. It was. The $6 upcharge for the bolognese sauce was worth every penny. He also suggested the eggplant appetizer, which was just as amazing reheated the next day! I asked about the olive oil cake everyone raved about and was told it's the owner's mother's recipe from Italy. I understand the compote on top rotates seasonally; this was strawberry, and of course the lemon sauce with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. Can't wait to return and try another awesome Italian dish. It's a slice of Federal Hill right in the heart of Apponaug. read more

Back again and the consistency is present. The halibut special is the best preparation I've had yet. Cheese board was outstanding as well as the vibe and atmosphere! Love this place. Nice wine list too...very reasonably priced. Management is kind and accommodating. read more

Wonderful food and great ambiance despite a truly strange location. Vanda Cucina is situated amidst the new Apponaug circulator project of Doom in Warwick, Rhode Island. It is next to the seafood market Captains Catch in what has been up to this point a revolving location. The last tenant was a mid range Italian American joint and before that it was a cell phone store among other things over the years. The parking is somewhat limited and you have to figure out how to enter the place from the rotary. But once you do you are in for a treat! They have redone the place in a light and airy style that is rustic but still contemporary. The chef is late of Cafe Nuovo and the quality of the food reflects this. The bread is homemade and served with good olive oil and some kind of roasted garlic spread. The waitstaff is very friendly and enthusiastic about their workplace. The menu is more authentic Italian than the Italian American cuisine that is typical of the area. Don't go expecting spaghetti and meatballs or clams casino. Many of the pastas are homemade (the gnocchi in particular is fabulous) and the sauces are complex and made from scratch. Some of the sauces are ever so slightly salty but don't let that put you off from trying the place. For an appetizer we had the clam crostini which was actually a bowl of clams with one lonely slice of toast on top. The waitress noticed our forlorn looks when that bread was gone in seconds and swooped in with more of the premeal bread without us even asking. Great for sopping up the broth at the bottom of the bowl. Clams were tender and fresh with no grit. For entrees we had fettuccine bolognese, gnocchi sorrentina, and a veal chop special. The bolognese was very good with homemade pasta (perhaps the tiniest bit overcooked but still good). The sauce was on the sweet side but very authentic otherwise. The veal chop was served on the bone with a Demi glacé and some kind of other sauce. Absolutely amazing! Very tender and complex flavors if not the teensiest bit salty. This was served with roasted asparagus and smashed potatoes. The gnocchi were pillow soft and served with a cherry tomato sauce and a few different cheeses. Very good and not too heavy. This restaurant is worthy of being on Federal Hill and it is a little baffling as to why they chose this location but I'm happy they did so I don't have to shlep into the city every time I want a fancy meal. The prices reflect the quality of the food and range from around 15-25 dollars for an entree. The appetizers will run you around 9-15 each. The veal chop was 38 dollars which I thought was excessive. I had pegged it as being around 32 and raised my eyebrows when I saw the check. Overall, a wonderful meal and my best wishes that they can overcome the curse of that location! read more

Have been wanting to try it here and finally got the chance last week. This place definitely exceeded my expectations. Everything was so delicious from the appetizers to the entrees. Can't wait to go back to try more of their menu items. Will be back soon! read more

Vanda Cucina - Italian Near Me - Warwick, Rhode Island

An amazing local restaurant. HomeMade food and cute interior. Chef Gina has great talent with menu items.

Best homemade Italian food not only in Warwick, but all of Rhode Island!

Great food, wonderful service, and in the coziest little space in Apponoag. This place has all of the Federal Hill vibes without the any of the headache of being downtown. I love an eclectic Italian wine list, and Vanda does not disappoint in that department! If you're looking to dine on a weekend, be sure to make a reservation! It's a cute but small space, and the word has certainly gotten out about how good it is. read more

Okay, first and foremost you must overlook the location, everyone is afraid of apponaug lately! Once inside this little gem, the outside fails to exist. They have done a beautiful job on the decor! Let's talk now about the staff, friendly and they are genuinely happy that you're there and they want you to come back, which you will! The menu is perfect and not overwhelming, I did however want every single dish on it. We were a party of 4 and we all tried different dishes and we were oooohing and ahhhing as we ate! Absolutely delicious, perfectly prepared Italian food, you will recognize old school dishes from your grandmothers cooking because it's based on an Italian mama and her dishes. Absolutely a new favorite of mine and I can't wait to get back to eat delicious food and visit my new friends! read more

Absolutely delicious!! My husband and I went for dinner a few nights ago and everything was perfect!! It was our first time here. For drinks, I had an elderflower cosmo and my husband had a cucumber mint mojito. Both were delightful, refreshing and not too sweet. My husband choose the polenta for an appetizer, which I thought would be kind of boring. It was fantastic! The sauce was incredibly flavorful. For our entrees we split the game hen, I asked for the homemade fettuccine in place of whatever pasta typically came with that dish (which I highly recommend) and the shrimp dish. I would definitely ask to sub the pasta in the shrimp dish for one of the homemade pastas next time. For dessert, we split the olive oil cake. So tasty!! I wish a family member had a birthday coming soon so I could order a whole cake!! We'll certainly be back. :) read more

Went last night sat at bar with my husband bartender was attentive as well as pleasant. Clams Zuppa and calamari for apps. Both were very good clams were a bit salty. My husband had the pasta bolognese and I ordered pasta aglio. They were both excellent but had to be sent back to be reheated as they came out warm. The flourless torte was the best. The restaurant was very busy surprisingly the noise level was not overbearing. We each had 2 cocktails which we both agreed were weak and quite expensive. The martini was served in a glass that a cordial would be served in. Was not able to taste much of the captain Morgan with coke. In any event overall nice dining experience. read more

Vanda has all the bases covered with catering. I've been to events (pre-Covid) where the food was catered by these folks, and the food and service is AMAZING. The staff is so professional, hospitable, and passionate. Current circumstances, I'd highly recommend Vanda for pick-up. 'Family meals' or whole pans of delicious Italian food for larger events. I'm a huge food snob and I live for pasta. Kudos to Dino and chef Gina - Vanda is FIRE read more

I've been to Vanda many times and enjoyed everything about it. Tonight was the first time I felt I over paid for the meal and the service was awful. A scallop and lobster special with 3 small scallop, for $32. The bartender couldn't have been bothered with myself or husband. Was like we were a inconvenience to her as she talked with her friends the entire time we were there. Nothing like we've seen before, a total disappointment and hoping a one time scenario. On a bright note the manager was great, attentive. Could tell he knew the bartender wasn't doing her job and tried to make up for it... unfortunately she didn't care.. read more

Amazing. So fresh, so friendly, perfect portions, just delicious. What a wonderful time. Best of luck.

Terrible service. Did not read us the dinner specials, almost felt like being ignored by staff? Very uppity attitudes all around. Maybe it's because we were dressed comfortable. We're both Army vets - not really concerned with fancy outfits. Oh well! Will not be going back. read more

Everything was fabulous! We started with a charcuterie board with delicious cheese and meats along with crunchy fresh bread and garlic oil. We had the fresh ricotta and it was so good and creamy. The Apple butter was a great compliment! The Broccoli rabi with sausage and beans was amazing! The beans were al dente and the sausage was made fresh and it was flavorful and delicious. We also shared the meatballs which were delectable. Next up was the pasta special....spaghetti with pancetta, Parmesan, cracked pepper and parsnips.... that's right parsnips. It was my favorite dish of the night! The pasta was cooked perfectly, the pancetta was crunchy and the parsnips were soft. There was just the right amount of cheese and it was perfectly peppery Then there was Salad and a delicious pork chop. The pork chop was served with creamy polenta and Brussel sprouts. We shared everything including dessert which was olive oil cake and a pear crumble and delicious French press coffee that came with its own timer to help you know when to drink it. The crumble was warm with lots of nuts and gelato. The olive oil cake was flavorful and moist ..... both were a perfect ending to our meal. Almost everything we ate was recommended by our server Madison. She was attentive but not overbearing and all of her recommendations were perfect for us. She was warm and engaging. Madison is a great asset to the restaurant! read more

I have always loved Vanda. Hadn't been back since Covid. Went last night and my waiter Nick remembered us. Such amazing service, he is top notch! The food is second to none! Thank you for another amazing experience! read more

The food is excellent! I have been there a few times and everything I ordered was superb. The staff and service was also very good. No complaints. The location isn't the best. It's a small restaurant that gets very busy so I recommend arriving early or making a reservation. One big con for me was the very small pours of wine. The wine starts at $10 a glass and it's very disappointing to get such a mediocre pour. I dine out a lot and this is the first time I have come across this issue in a long time. I wouldn't order another glass, not at those prices. read more

Will never go there again. Had a table of 8 reserved for an important occasion. Treated like second class citizens. Hostess was rude and lied about our table. Waited 50 minutes past our reservation time. Finally left and went elsewhere and had a lovely dinner. read more

Best Italian food in years!! Just moved here can't say how pleased I am with service and entrees!

We walked out. The WORST service. We booked a table for two, got to the restaurant 10 minutes ahead of time. The place looked busy, usually a good sign. There were five empty tables, some needing to be bussed. We were asked to wait for them to get a table ready. Ten minutes later, a party of four comes in. Then two more parties of four. Despite us arriving early, the three tables of four were all sat before us. Then a table of four said, they were really a table of six so a small table was pulled from the back and space made. Yet my wife and I were still told to wait, no tables. The staff tried some cock and bull story why we had to wait - I know why, there were only a couple tables for two, the rest of the place is tables of four so they didn't want to loose two seats. Eventually, we were offered a seat at the bar but that is NOT what we reserved and maybe there is a reason people do not or cannot sit at a bar. That was lost on the horrible staff. And yet, there were still two tables of four empty but we couldn't sit there. They said we still had to wait. After a half hour of waiting, we left. My wife sent an email. Their first response was a thumbs up emoji. Well, I too can reply with a similar single digit raised.I do so now every time i drive past the place. The next day, my wife received a longer email. In it, a staff member said my wife is not remembering the event correctly. And then tried to explain how restaurants work. Well no. Vanda needs to know how reservations work. People reserve a table for a certain time, and there is a table held for them. OK, if a place is busy, I can see reservation times cannot be exact but when there are plenty of empty tables and others are sat before you, yeah, I get it, Vanda wants to maximize their money. We were made to feel like we were serving them. And on top of all that, the staff was rude. A restaurant has only one chance to make a good first impression. They blew theirs. We will NEVER be back and every time we talk about a place to avoid, Vanda is top of the list. read more

My husband & I decided to spend our 49th wedding anniversary here, and what a good choice it was. The food was exceptional, our server, John, was attentive without hovering. What a gem! Our second time here and it was as fantastic as the first! The homemade pasta is so good--I don't normally order pasta but last time we ate here I kept picking off my boyfriends plate and ordered my own pasta dish this time and so glad I did. Service is wonderful, very welcoming and attentive, and each dish we've tried a winner. Prices are reasonable as well. Highly recommended. read more

We went tonight ( Sunday , Sept 9) for dinner. Sat at bar.. good ambience for a smaller place. We were greeted and served cocktails by the bartender immediately .. all good. We ordered 2 apps and one entree to split..being the meatball with ricotta, stuffed cabbage and for the entree ordered the pasta Bolognese. Overall , they were ok ... no comparison to the meatball grade Sienna has on their menu ( prepared the same way). We both thought appetizer portions were VERY SMALL for the price. This is especially true for the entree pasta dish which was barely an appetizer size amount and wouldn't even be enough for one person. Hopefully for the prices charged the restaurant will re-access this and give a larger portion size equal to that of other local restaurants. I hope this review results in this change so the restaurant is successful going forward because I would like to go back but not with these portion sizes. read more

I gave this a 5, a little bit over the top, but so grateful to finally have a fine dining Italian restaurant in Warwick. I am a full blooded Italian, and very passionate about food. We hardly ever go out for Italian ,especially in Warwick, because my husband and I both cook and are usually disappointed. Providence, of course, has great Italian places; Warwick not so much.We were not disappointed here. Loved the calamari, with smoked tomato puree, fried peppers, a different twist, and the other appetizer we ordered was the meatball. My husband ordered a pasta bolognese dish and I ordered the cod dish. Some of the portions were on the small size, but we loved everything. I would rather have quality vs quantity. The cocktails were great too. I ordered a Campari Negroni, now my favorite drink - a cross between a manhattan and campari and soda. Just writing about it makes me want one now. Staff friendly, professional, attentive - know what they are doing for sure It is fine dining, so yes, a bit pricey, especially by Warwick standards, but worth it. read more
