My child had a horrible experience here. We will never go back for any reason. while on a drive my child was pinched on the arm, slapped on the arm, and hands around the neck while driving and procceded to shake them. We filed a formal complaint in Olympia and they said "it was taken care of" but couldn't give me details. My child went in for there last drive and saw the instructor that abused them. I am a teacher and I continue to hear terrifyling stories about the driving instructors behavior whilethey are in the car with young new drivers. My own son had a very aggressive, verbally abusive driving instructor when he attended 911 Salmon Creek Vancouver, Wa three years ago. Everytime I hear another story from a student who is attending this school I kick myself for not having complained at the time. Three years later the experiences of these students are getting worse. The brain does not work well when there is screaming and grabbing and speaking to a frightened new driver on the freeway. This most recent story include the instructor grabbing the student's head and demanding he look at him while driving OVER THE SPEED LIMIT (instructor demanded it). The student described the instructor as maniacal and likely on drugs. Do not send your kids here. read more

I now have to spend a significant amount of time undoing the psycological damage the test instructor did to my son. He was verbally abusive, physically grabbed his arm and spoke ill of his parents. I can't believe these people are allowed to function this way. Please do not send your kids here. I picked this school based on the reviews a few months ago. I absolutely regret it. After speaking to other parents that sent their kids here I've heard the same story! Please don't send your kids here. The last driving instructor was verbally abusive to my daughter. While she was practice driving she keep saying to my daughter toy really can't drive and why can you multi task. Isn't that why she's in driving school...so she can learn?!? Great school with excellent instructors for classroom (Zoom) and in person. Driver instructors are calm, professional and very knowledgeable. Our Twin 15.5 year old teenagers ( boy & girl) really learned all the key points of the WA DOL driver manual and rules of the road. You wont go wrong using this school for driver instruction. The fact they use retired WA State Law Enforcement officers to teach classes and driving is a big bonus! read more

We had moved to Vancouver from Oregon when our oldest daughter came of age to get her permit & drivers license. I saw this place since it's in the same area where WA Vehicle DOL office is located...I called the number to register and had no complaints. I joined in for the first part of the first day. I was super impressed that the instructor was a former police officer and his demeanor and teaching style allowed teenagers to relate & be engaged. It was only a 6 week course. Scheduling drives was painless. The cost was definitely worth it and we will be back when my youngest daughter comes of age. Highly Recommend read more

All the teachers and driving instructors are actual police officers. They are very helpful and signing up for classes is a breeze because they offer a wide variety of class times. They have a great location in Salmon Creek and all their cars are new Honda Civics. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a high quality driving school in Vancouver. The woman who partook in my daughters driving test was harsh, rude and disrespectful. It started with them completely ignoring us when we walk in to our appointment. Her and an older gentleman were gossiping about a student who'd accused one of the instructors of sexual molestation. Then about 5 mins after our appointment (after ignoring us as they were gossiping) they rudely called us up and continued to be short and brass. The customer service is terrible. Made it very uncomfortable from the first walk in their door. ZERO STARS. read more

If I would have known then what I know now Iwould never have allowed my kids to get their driving training at 911. Had a few grumpy instructors but not upset enough to write a review until we experienced Tim Kim. He was so incredibly rude to my child... intimidated him and made him feel awful for a small mistake. Then later he was rude and condescending to his dad. I would never recommend this business to anyone. When you have people who can't treat everyone with kindness and respect, especially with nervous drivers, you shouldn't have them working for you! My other issue is that they used way too many scare tactics. Some of it is understandable because new drivers should know how dangerous bad habits can be but it was at the point where my kids would come home and tell me all the frightening photos and videos of ppl bloody and dead on the highway. I'd give it zero stars if I could. This school had the best ratings in the area so my parents paid a bunch to have me "learn" here the classes were typically helpful but often combined with horrible scare tactics they use to keep kids driving responsibility, ranging from teachers telling accident stories from their experiences to violent videos built into the lessons often showed without any warning. Very traumatizing. When an instructor saw how shaken I was by it she assumed I was sick, to which I explained that; "The video was just a bit... intense for me..." to which she responded; "Well, its going to get more intense, this is drivers school." It was hard to go back to class after that. Moving onto the drives, there are 5 drives you go on focusing on different techniques with your instructor. I assumed this was hands on lessons of course; we payed like 700$ so surely we'd receive lessons in the car with an instructor, right? Wrong. These drives are more like tests, instructors were very rude and passive aggressive and were inflexible in student needs and struggles. I have GAD, ADHD, and social anxiety, and while it is true that I need to find ways to overcome these struggles in order to drive that is not an excuse for instructors to jump to conclusions or make rude remarks. Additionally it is not an excuse for instructors to assume I have simply not been practicing enough. I have been practicing a lot, however some things just simply do not come as easily as others and it's important to be aware everyone learns differently instead of getting frustrated at a student for struggling with something you dream as basic. I would not recommend this school to others, please try to find another way to get your license if you have to; not worth it. read more

My son was having a hard time with the written exam. He was enrolled at a different driving school. He had failed his written 4 times with no help or concern from the driving school, and I really believed it was due to multiple attempts and failing, and his embarrassment each time he walked in to retake the test. He started developing anxiety each time he went and tested. As a mother I was very worried about him and his level of confidence and his thinking poorly of himself. I decided to call a different driving school, 911 Driving school. I told them about my sons anxiety and his attempts at the exams. Brenda at 911 Driving School told me she offers verbal testing, this driving school is knowledgeable, compassionate and patient. My son took the test there with their help and passed! I enrolled my 3rd teen in this school and overall I think they are very good and would recommend. Not inexpensive, but I am not going the cheap route when it comes to teen driving safety. I wanted my teens learning from people who were in traffic law enforcement. Regarding complaint of crash photos; I don't agree. Driving is a huge responsibility and young adults need to be mature enough to know the realities of driving. When I was a teen; those pictures got the point across and as a result, I was a more precautious driver. read more

I wish I would have read the one star reviews before hiring the Camas location school for private drives. The intimidating, preditorial, and arrogant behavior of two of the instrutors caused so much stress on my student and me that it effected us on a physical level. Thier only job was to help us with drives to help her get ready to be on her own . She has already passed everything else from another school months ago and we will be going to the other school for her final drive test. She did great driving with the other school for her 5 drives. The two instructors at 911 were so belittling and abusive with the tone they took, my student was to scared and couldn't focus on driving. They lack accountability and put it on us like it was our fault she was a failure at driving. My student has anxiety disorders and this experience took her to the edge of relapsing . My guilt for not walking out the first sign of this disgusting behavior has made me feel like I needed to pursue further action but because of my health conditions I can't handle allot of stress. Note to self: don't let your driver's license expire in the state of Washington. They will make you take the written and drive test again. You know how hard it is to pass the tests when you've been driving 10+ years? Thankfully it was the boy and not me hehehhe. He failed his test the first time around, but you get to retake once in the price they charge. Thankfully he passed the second time around and now can drive again like a big boy! read more

I had 3 boys attend the driving school from 2018-2021. It was nice that the instructors understood patience, which is key in training beginners. The class assignments were very clear, which helped our boys pass their permit test, and the school only teaches questions that are on the written tests, even though they had the students read the driving book. I do recommend 911 driving school. Due to the pandemic, there were some hiccups along the way since the kids had to do virtual learning via Zoom but it worked out in the end. read more

***PLEASE READ*** Horrible first experience for my child. When a parent is searching for quality instruction for one of the most important skills such as driving, 911 Driving school stands out. Why? It stood out to my wife and I because they use retired police officers. I have great respect for our police force and what they endure day after day. I have family and friends who have served and proud to say so. That being said, the class instruction (Zoom) was decent, however the driving instructors (previously employed police officers) my children encountered were condescending, disrespectful, arrogant, and lacking the ability to work with young people. There are many important factors to consider when choosing a driving school for your child. It may sound impressive or even a superior choice to have a police officer instruct your child, but that is NOT a qualification to be competent, respectful, reassuring, or patient as an instructor. Caution to the parents who are making a decision of who will teach their children the skills necessary to keep them and others safe. read more

Overall very pleased with the instruction and instructors at 911. Only thing that bothers me is that one of the instructors that takes the kids out on the road is rather bullyish to students that aren't as experienced. My son was not one of those students, but he was in the same car as one student that was treated very disrespectfully by the instructor. It bothered him so much he told me all about it. I am very pleased with both locations of 911 Driving School. My daughter attended classes at the Hwy 99 location back in 2010 and my son just attended at the Camas location 6 months ago. Both kiddos passed with flying colors. Everyone at both locations was accommodating, welcoming and great to work with. Even when a small paperwork bobble came up over a weekend, a lovely lady from the office saw my email on a Sunday and called me right away to clear it up so my son could get his license on his birthday! I'm giving 3 stars because of the Salmon Creek location. Camas location on 192nd gets 5 stars - but the Salmon Creek location gets 0 stars because one of the instructors there is an a**hole who likes to fail students on their driving tests for no good reason when he's in a bad mood. He's a crusty old man who shouldn't be instructing students and takes it out on them by failing them for no particular reason. It must give him a power trip and make him feel good I guess. DON'T do business with the Salmon Creek location and avoid this cantankerous old a**hole. read more

My son and daughter took the driving class and enjoyed it. The classroom instructor seemed patient and knowledgeable. The driving instructors were thorough and patient. The manager, Laurie, is very friendly and helpful. The school is a bit more expensive than the high school class but we found it was worth it. They tested the kids at the school which made my kids more comfortable and less anxious. read more
