Service at the gun counter is a little slow during peak hours. Really great store with most ammo in stock always. Great people working here, very friendly and helpful with (most of the time) real world hunting and shooting experience. read more

The only thing this place has going for it is location. its not in the middle of the hood. There is not much selection. They seem to only carry one brand of gun stuff. For a beginner shooter its a nice place. after you learn that all there stuff is cheap over priced Chinese's crap. you'll stop shopping there. Quickly you will be realizing you'll be buying quality stuff off the interwebs As for the ( law enforcement section) its laughable at best. To best describe this store is easy. The Walmart of gun stores. What made Vance's good in the past, was there very knowledgeable staff and personable service. Now they hire (salesman). Andy McGraw Groveport, Ohio read more

Great place to shoot , nice friendly and courteous staff .. The only drawback I have is the shells from other shooters flying into my booth and hitting me while I shoot. Not that big of a deal but it's distracting .. read more

I was looking for a 1911 type 9mm. I was unsure exactly what model I wanted. The salesman suggested I order a Rock Island 1911 9mm. He stated I was under no obligation to purchase the weapon when it came in if I did not like it. I would be required to put down $140 to make the order. It would be fully refunded if I did not like the weapon. A few days later it came in and I went to look at it. I did not like it. They refused to give me a full refund and keep $25 for a restocking fee. I was not treated fairly. A day after the above post, I was contacted by the store manager. He apologized and we made arrangements for an equitable solution. I am now a happy camper. read more

I took my bow in to the Hebron Store to get it tuned. The person that received it was Cody, and he was very friendly! He found a bent Cam and other things. He had it for a week because of ordering the Cams. When I went to pick it up, he stayed after hours just to get it paper tuned right. He was great! Very knowledgeable!! Sure knew what he was doing! That's the first Store to EVER take the time to help me tune my Bow the RIGHT way!! They sure have me as a customer now!! Recommend me them immensely!! Keep up the great work!! read more

Great location. As soon as you walk in an start to gander at everything they have along with the deals they have. It will make you keep coming back. Also they do have a indoor shooting range and offer classes for your CCW. read more

First time to this location.... I've recently moved to the area and was looking to buy a membership at the shooting range. Was not greeted....it seemed like I was a bother to the counter staff. Very poor customer service....very rude. Spoke to the manager on duty....didn't seem like he wanted to hear my input. Went to another local range and was treated very well....guess what - I bought their membership. I won't recommend this location to any of my co-workers and friends. read more

Went to Obetz store today, just beware they are very slow, take a sack lunch with you. There was more employees walking around instead of waiting on customers. read more

There prices are better then any retailer out there. Only reason I didn't give them a five star rating is there firearms dept. if your going to buy a gun from them give yourself a few hrs to spend on it. Every time I got to the firearms counter I'm waiting for over an hour in line just to be seen. Then almost another hour to get paperwork and everything in order. Always seems like there's only 2 people working the counter. That's my only complaint. The rest of the store/range is amazing! read more

Great range. Cool target system. Very helpful folks. Reasonable prices. - I didn't rent any guns but was impressed by the rentals available (pistols and long guns) Worth the drive from Westerville to Alum Creek - a drive I'll be making again soon. read more

Been a range member for two years and plan on renewing for three. Good price on membership, great service, and almost always in and out. Don't think it is as busy during the week as it is on the weekend. Purchasing ammo is smooth and easy, but I have been frustrated every time I went to the gun counter by slow service. I understand do a good job and build a relationship with a customer, but when you are three deep show a sense of urgency. Having to wait 30 minutes to be told it is not in stock is frustrating and does not reflect the level of service in the rest of the store. I think every store should carry manufacturer branded accessories if they are going to sell a specific firearm. The people on the floor are generally quick to assist if it sitting on a shelf. Range bag they recommended tore within 30 days, would check up on online reviews before i purchased in store. On the positive the store is clean, the parking lot is huge, and it is easily accessible. read more

Not sure why I even bother. Every single time I go into Vance's range to shoot, something is going on, a class or its just closed. Today it was only a 45 min to an hour wait, which is better than the last few times. I can see the lane cameras, there are 10 open lanes, what a joke. Oh and EVERYTHING in the store is over priced, by a lot. On average I can find any firearm for at least $200 less online. Some of the ammo I can find for half of what they charge. Used to be a customer back in the day, when the Cleveland Ave store had legit pricing, never again. Vance's management, take a good look at gander mountain, it's your future. read more

I have been to this shooting range several times. Today will be my last. Myself and my family decided we wanted to go to the range today since they purchased a firearm from your company a couple of weeks ago and wanted to use it. The counter team was very professional, patient and helpful as there were 5 in our party and some needed ammo and protection. After we were set up to start shooting, I experienced difficulty loading my gun. I have never had this problem in the past, so I stepped over to the lane next to me to ask my nephew if he could help me with the problem. Since we were there as a group I did not realize this would be a problem. I stepped over in the safest way I was taught, as I have quite a bit of experience shooting guns at the range. I sat my gun down on the ledge and he was looking at it when one of the associates came over and proceeded to lecture me about gun safety and to not leave the lane with my gun. I accept that I should have had him come to my lane; however, I do not agree and I am not ok with how I was treated by your associate. I was unable to acknowledge that I understood what he was saying, as he kept getting closer to my face, yelling louder, treating me as if I were a child. As if I wasn't initially humiliated enough, he wouldn't let up and I was embarrassed and mortified by the time he walked away, Although I am a woman, I am well trained in gun safety measures and I do not expect to be treated that way from anyone, especially during a family outing that was supposed to be fun. I have my CCW, I carry my weapon often and I have shot several times at other ranges. I have never been so humiliated. If I were there by myself, I would have left immediately. Unfortunately, we will never spend another family outing at Vance's. Diane S. stephdia@gmail.com read more

We visited this location a few days ago. We had a great experience at the store. First, we went to the shooting range and spent an hour there. It was our first time using the range. The people at the range were very friendly and helpful. They were available to answer the questions that we had. After our time was up, they asked how our experience was. They seemed to truly care that we had an enjoyable time. Next, we spent some time in the store. The staff was very friendly. We were greeted as we went thru the store and asked if we needed any help. We went to the firearms area. Jim helped us. I purchased a S & W Shield, 9 mm. He was very friendly and helpful also. He thanked us for our business and invited us back. Overall, it was a great experience in the shooting range and store. We will be back and will let others know about our experience. read more

I really like the store they have a lot of stuff probably most everything you need for shooting sports for sure. Some things like exploding targets are way over priced but guns you can get deals that are in line with deals at other stores. I was looking at a pistol and the Lowest I Ever saw it was 215 gun only at other stores and I bought at Vances' for 219 plastic holster included. So I think those are the kind of deals to expect. The wait is soo bad though. I think it took a total of 2 hours for me to purchase a pistol including waiting in line for 1.5 hours. I knew what I was buying and did not even look at it. When my number was called I i said I want that one. To add insult to injury I was put on a hold for the pistol. It happens not at all Vance's fault. But when it was cleared they said they would call and didn't. And when I went to pick it up I got back in line. At noon on a friday, and my number was 133 and they were on 118. Fortunately I saw the guy that sold it to me and I didn't have to wait another 2 hours to pick it up. Based on being there 45 minutes and they cleared liKe 3 customers. Great problem to have because that means a lot of Americans buying guns, but I suggest having a pick up line. You have their money and you haVe background check, just let customers come in and get their gun, maybe a kiosk to fill out ppwk if a customer knows or plans to buy that day! Prolly save 15-20 minutes per customer. Maybe fill it out online before you get there? I will go back just need to make sure I pack a snack and some water. read more

The shooting range was a waste of my time. I was turned away because I wanted to shoot buckshot. I was told they "didn't want it flying all over the range". Anyone who has patterned buckshot before knows that it does not "fly all over the range", that is a myth. They will also not let you shoot aluminum cased ammunition because they are sufficiently greedy that they don't want to have to sort out the aluminum cases in order to get top dollar for your used brass. There are better options in central Ohio that cost less as well. read more

First time to this location. The building is huge and new. Plenty of stock to look at. I came here to buy a Beretta. Website said they had it in stock. Came to the store and they said they had 2 in stock but couldn't find them!?!? Really? You just lost 2 guns in your stock... Anyway, I waited 30 minutes for them to tell me all this. I'll go to Cleveland Ave where at least they have it together. This place is a bunch of rookies. Update 11/3. I went to Columbus location after visiting Obetz. There, they informed me that the gun I was looking for had been pulled from stock waiting for repair kit from Beretta, and that's why they showed in stock, yet weren't available for sale. Called Obetz location and was explained the same thing. I actually received several calls from management asking what they could do to correct this situation. They are now hunting down this fun for me that had already been fitted with the upgrade. I've been a customer of Vance's for 2 decades. And this is the reason why. First time I had an issue and they pulled out all the "guns" to correct the situation and make me a happy customer. Thanks to Steve at Obetz for hunting this fun down and Todd Vance for following up. read more

Rude! This was my wife's and my first visit to this Vance Outdoors. We went to the shooting range counter to ask questions and was greeted with rude short answers to our questions. We had thought of possibly purchasing a handgun for each of us here, but my wife was so angered she wanted to leave immediately. We soon left with no thought of buying anything. This place will never get our business. read more

I have been to the obetz location several times, have purchased two guns there, have used the range several times, I have absolutely no complaints. service at the gun counter and range counter are excellent, the employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. Although it's not near as big as a Cabela's or Field & Stream I would much rather go to Vance outdoors, they have a bigger selection of guns and ammo and they pack that store with as much merchandise as possible. Go to Field & Stream and they have one or two guys at the most working behind the gun counter and not near the selection of guns as Vance outdoors does. Nobody is paying me to make this review, I don't know anybody that works there I only enjoy going there, definitely should check it out. read more

Not a fan of the people selling guns. I went in 2 times after researching what I wanted and was swayed away from the gun I liked. They will also possibly question what you are wanting the gun for and saying it's federal law and that they're allowed to question. I have never been questioned like that and I've purchased 1/2 a dozen handguns previously. If you have no idea what you want then one of the guys will give you their opinion of what gun would work best for you. I like the sale prices but I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I have been going to Vances on Cleveland Ave for about 2 almost 3 years. Even though there always packed I have always received wonderful customer service. So I decide to stop in the Obetz location and check out the shooting range and store. When I first arrived I was impressed by the size and layout. I had a few items to return so I went to the customer service desk. The young gentleman that was working was nice but wasn't knowledgeable about his job. So I asked him if could do store credit because I want to shop around for a scope for my AR. He wasn't sure if he could so I had to wait for 10 minutes while he asked several fellow employees for help. Finally they were able to figure it out. When I got to the counter where the scopes are located there were 2 salesmen standing there. One with a customer and the other was just standing there. I looked at him and he walked away to another part of the store. I stood there for about 10 to 15 min waiting to see if he would come back. Never returned. Also seen several other free salespeople just walking around the store. I returned to the customer service desk and just asked for the money to be refunded to my credit card and also informed them of my complaint regarding the salesperson. No one bothered to say let me get you some one. Of course there was a problem refunding the credit to my card and I had to wait while they tried to get information on how to refund it to my credit card. Finally made it to the gun range after being in the store for 45 min to hour without even buying anything. The gun range staff were excellent and the gun rage it self might have been the best one I've seen. But far as overall my experience was terrible and if I were to go back it would only be for the gun range. I'll stick to the one on Cleveland Ave for everything else read more

In my 50 years I have never had such a bad customer service on any thing I have ordered on line or in person. From the day it was to be delivered I have been tried to get a answer. at long last some one told me that the person that shipped my package put the wrong address on it. then when I called him, he tried to blame me instead of taking responsibility for his own actions. Then he told me that it would be picked up and redelivered next day and the next day and the following day nothing, 3 days of the same store, waited like a fool. I called his boss and he blamed me to. he told me he would get to the bottom of it and would call me right back. still waiting for that call. I called FedEx and they told me that the package is going to be picked up today at the wrong address and shipped back to Vance Outdoors, I played them 3 day shipping and 8 days later the package is head back to them. no call to apologize, to say I'm sorry we made a mistake, how can we make it right. nothing but silence. go to BassPro they are a couple of dollars more but they now how to treat a customer.
