Vince Zeno was a fantastic instructor for the Ohio CHL course. The course was thorough and informative, he made absolutely certain everyone in our group was comfortable for shooting and ready for our written test at the end of the course. He made us shoot with both hands, one hand, and with one hand on our non-dominant hand as well to make sure we were prepared for any situation. Our course ran over for about 30 extra minutes because we had a large class, so be prepared to potentially leave a bit late. read more

Had a great experience here for purchase and for the range on separate occasions. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff during my first visit to see inventory and then on my follow up for my purchase. A month later returned to practice with my purchase and had the BEST experience thanks to Oliver. The first time I went there in March I did not get welcoming vibes I said let me give it another try maybe the guy that helped me wasn't a douchebag he was just having a bad day. So I went ago today and his energy was a little more welcoming despite my verbally say the rules to him to let him know im not slow and listened from the last visit he thought he had to repeat the rules to me after I just said it to him.To act like I was slow I mentioned to him that I've been to many other ranges and everyone has different rules so I understand and respect their rules. I paid for my hour and went in not even 25 minutes of being there the bad energy guy comes in and me was I firing a binary trigger and am I using my iron sites I told him yes I'm using a binary trigger and I'm using a see all site which he probably doesn't know its almost as accurate as any site on the market. He tells me I can't use a binary trigger in here because their hard to control despite ignoring the fact that I have experience. I respectfully said ok fine. After asked him was that in the rules I signed he evaded my question with B.S and had a rebuttal and said its the owners rules. They don't have to worry about getting my money again. I won't ever say what race i am but you be the Judge. LEPD was my choice for Gun Safety 101, a 4-hour session. Tim taught the class and was serious about what the class would walk away with in terms of pistol-firing safety. The final 90 minutes were spent with .22 cal Glock semi-auto pistols. Tim and one other were very serious, again, about what had been taught and gave all of us encouragement and feedback on holding a pistol, ammo loading, charging the firearm, aiming and firing. The LEPD store, itself, is fairly large with firearms aplenty for sale. I hadn't reached that point and didn't browse. A friend of mine advised me LEPD had a reputation for being hardass about gun safety - my impression was they are on-point. No problem with that approach. I may go back for C&C. My wife and I took our first trip to L.E.P.D. And had a training session both in the classroom and on the range. I must say their was a little apprehension and nervousness being somewhat new to guns and the shooting range. The guys at the back counter were great. They filled us in on how things work with no judgement to us being new. Our instructor, Ethan, was fantastic. He was able to put my wife at ease and get her comfortable with the whole experience. I was extremely pleased with everything he did. Having my wife tell me she had a good time and appreciated Ethan's approach, making her feel comfortable, and helping her get over any nerves made this a great afternoon. When I called to get an update I got reamed and was told that the gun smith would call me not the other way around. We came here on 12/27 after driving all the way from Black wing shooting center. They had over a 2 hour wait right after the store opened. We got right in here at LEPD. The range fees are different for members and non-members. Here is the link to their site for prices: http://www.lepd.com/firing-range/ With each range rental you get a roll of masking tape (to cover the holes in your target to keep track of how you are doing) and a target. I thought this was a nice added benefit with your range fees. My firearm was having an issue with the slide locking after each shot. They have a gunsmith on site that was able to repair my firearm in a few minutes with a fee that was super reasonable. read more

I took their Gun Safety 101 class. I'm a woman who is very inexperienced with handguns and just wanted to learn more about my new handgun. Awesome experience! Our teacher drummed the 4 simple rules of safety into our head, was never condescending, and was always patient. The last hour of the class was in the range where we were able to actually shoot the gun that we had just learned about for prior 2 hours. Overall, HIGHLY recommend taking this class! Came here for the first time as my usual spots to get slug ammo have been out. They luckily had the ammo I needed, granted, it was at a rate that's a bit high, but it got me by until the ammo I ordered arrived via mail. Who knew this girl would ever enjoy learning how to shoot a gun? Today was the first time that my husband and I learned to shoot a gun. I'd have to say my husband looked like a pro even though it was his first time. When you've never had any shooting practice your required to have an instructor here. You pay for the session which is like $30, the head and eye gear which was like $3, the ammo which was $5.99 and extra $25 for the instructor. I learned the basics of shooting and holding a gun today. I think if I had my own reading glasses I would have seen the target better. I wasn't shooting in the middle. Maybe it's because I was a little nervous being my first time shooting. Although I hope next time I won't be as nervous. As well as bringing those glasses because my dominant right eye couldn't get the target until the last few minutes of the 30 minute session. I really appreciate the officer's time teaching my husband and I to shoot today. The fact he had the patience to help me when I was just doing badly means a lot. He really helped me learn how to hold and shoot a gun on the range. I'm definitely coming back soon. Hopefully with more confidence in my shooting ability next time! The facilities were nice and range price was reasonable. The staff was very knowledgeable and they had plenty of options if you needed ammo or wanted to buy a holster, magazine, or even firearm. The gun prices however, were very expensive. There were ample shooting lanes; two buddies and I rented two lanes for an hour and our total came to around $45, including safety glasses and ear protection for me. The lanes were clean, the people were kind and we didn't have any problems. Also cool, they were running a customer appreciation day at the time, and had Schmidt's there catering with free sausages and waters for everyone to come through the door. read more

Everything went flawless and the front counter gentleman remembered me from another previous time I shot there. Overall pleasant experience. It is worth mentioning that I don't get the other negative reviews here on staff being unfriendly or arrogant. My experience has been very positive and I have already been there 3 times in a month, with no problems encountered. Lanes are clean, and they cater to safety. I like LEPD and will frequent it more. I bring my own guns and ammo so I can't speak of other reviews complaining about jammed rental guns incidents, what have you. I can easily tell by interacting with them, that they have the knowledge, hands on experience, and take higher than average safety measures compared to other places in the metro. LEPD is a new contender in the Columbus Shooting range and firearms market. Okay, so they're not like Grand Opening new, but then again, Shooting ranges don't open every week either. This place is hidden off of Bethel Rd in a pretty old strip mall near the Railroad underpass. Our visit here was not bad at all. You can tell the place is run by family and family friends and everyone was pretty knowledgeable, or if they weren't they would find out from someone else. The selection here is not the largest per say. I mean, I wouldn't come in here expecting Vances, or Gander Mountain, but they've got a nice selection of pistols and revolvers for those looking to conceal carry. Rifle and shot guns were pretty few, but what they had in stock was pretty much new. Gun pricing was not super competitive. However, pricing on their Shooting range was pretty good. The only drawback was since they don't have a ton of lanes, they have time limits. Blackwing will allow you to shoot for as long as you'd like for a standard fee. I get it though, it makes sense seeing the size of the range, and I too have been one to suffer through waiting for some Yuppie show off to finish shooting his 500 rounds of ammo out of his 357 Magnum. The salesmen weren't pushy here, and didn't give you that 'I'm a cop and ex-military' vibe full of 'No-nonsense' conversation and basically criticizing you for your choice of firearm. That's really the breath of fresh air to this place. If you're looking for a place to obtain a CCL, they offer the classes, but their prices are pretty average going for the area. I'd gladly come back. It wasn't the biggest or greatest, but it was nice and well run. Plus they had .22 ammo in stock. A real rarity. read more

I didn't just get good service, I got exceptional service. I went today to try a few new things I learned and it was like I went to a completely different gun range this time. The staff was nice. The gentleman that sold me the gun was nice but the staff that ran the gun range it self were mean spirited workers. I had an issue with a jammed gun and was called a liar by one of the workers. Can't really speak to the merchandise guys, but the fellas running the range are outstanding. I don't know if they have anyone back there who isn't former LE or military, and it shows- they all have outstanding knowledge and know-how, and have a genuine interest in seeing shooters improve. Lots of ranges have opened up over the past couple of years in Franklin & Delaware county, but we travel a little bit further just to shoot here. Tip- ask for the lanes with the computerized return systems. You can use the programed "courses" to make your target shooting a lot more fun and applicable. read more

I've been here two times with my wife to teach her how to shoot a handgun. We used a Groupon each time, and it was a great value. This place is CLEAN (some ranges are completely ghetto and people treat them like trash), comfortable, has extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff, and is easy to get to and from. I rarely say I love going to place to spend money, but I will make an exception for LEPD. I love coming here. And how could you not? They don't sell happiness, but they are a shooting range, and that's kind of the same thing. First, I have to say the facility here is very nice. A great clean and well laid out range. I am also thrilled to have another indoor shooting facility in the area. That said the staff is pretty lame, most questions are greeted with blank starer and little to no information of use. They seem to be changing the range rules a lot, which is their right, but when you buy a membership expecting one thing... It's just poor service. No one in the retail store or range seems friendly or knowledgeable, forget going the extra mile, Basically, if your not a LEO expect that your presence and business will merely be tolerated, IT's a shame they have such a great facility with such a poor staff and attitude. read more

I've always thoroughly enjoyed my time at LEPD. I've been to several ranges in central Ohio and you'll often find the employees there to be arrogant and unpleasant. Not at LEPD. All the employees are friendly and respectful and I've seen them go above and beyond to help show new shooters the ropes. They've always helped get me the best deal whether it was a firearm or miscellaneous gear and for that reason this range/shop will always have my business. The only downside is at times it does get a little crowded, but that's to be expected for a range with good location like this one. Been here a few times with friends and family. One of my co-workers recommend I try it out and we both went. Been a loyal fan, so far. PROS: Staff is very nice, friendly and knowledgable. Store layout is roomy, and everything looks nice and neatly arranged. Range has a great ventilation system! For the most part, the clientele I've encountered so far are pretty competent, save for a rare newbie. Location is really good. Down the road from the 315/Bethel Road exit. Close to food and other shops. CONS: Membership is a little high for me. I just go Ala-cartè. Target rounds are so-so. My guns jam a lot when I buy their rounds, never when i buy from elsewhere. (I don't blame them, they just buy somewhere else too, I guess.) That's about it. I really like the place, I even bought a few holsters, a Marlin M60 22LR and will continue to patronize LEPD. I arranged a corporate event here for 7 people - service was absolutely wonderful: they reserved us lanes, gave us a discount, accommodated us when we were late and allowed us to shoot past their closing time, instructed us in a very friendly, helpful manner given our inexperience, and stayed with us the whole time to make sure we were happy and learning. I've been going here for a while now and finally wrote a review. The range tech is very nice and I have always had very smooth interactions with staff. Yes, they can be strict about safety but I hardly see that as a negative. The biggest thing for me, though, is there is none of the "elitist" vibe I get from places like Blackwing. But we watched how again and again we were looked over so other white coustomers could be served so finally after about 20min of being ignored we just left. I pre paid for the Opada class. When I was finally ready to go take the class. I was told that I had to pay for it again!!!! Im like excuse me???? So I'm like WOW what great customer service. They never help they wanted ti charge me a second time. So the owner Christy just called me and had the nerve to ask me why I made a dispute on my credit card I'm like you are trying to charge me for a class I never took that's why. I also told her I take care of 2 disabled gentleman and my life is kinda chaotic. Her response was im gonna fight this dispute and hung up on me instead of trying to help me resolve the situation. My jaw dropped the lady is clearly on drugs an has 0 costumer service skill. I need to go back to Palm beach Florida I miss my upscale beach customers service. This place is Awesome! I took my CHL class here. initially I thought there price was high at $139 but after taking the class I was amazed. You will not get more informative training than this. The instructors consisted of retired police officers and NRA instructors that have had real life occurences where they've had to protect there lives. They are very personalized as well with small classes. I will definitely take there defensive track training! Ronnie the gunsmith is also world class, Ive had him install a few aftermarket things for me right on the spot, quick and easy. I actually have a range membership at a different gun range but will frequent here just for the customer service and knowledge these guys possess. Ive also ran into a few of our former Ohio State Football legends from time to time. They like to frequent this place! read more

They get 1 star because of ten dollars. Wanted 300$ for a trade (gen 4 glock 26)so I could purchase a different pistol from LEPD along with ammo and a holster. But they came at me with 290$ because they have 10% off sale on used firearms. I said you guys can't give me an extra 10$ and she said no because of the sale.
