Wife had bone grafts and dental implants with Dr Kyle Van Brocklin at the Canyon Lakes facility - wrote a review for there before finding this Yelp listing. We are definitely super pleased with Kyle's work, fast recovery and results. In addition, the facility is in a nice location and all the staff are more than friendly, helpful, through and efficient. Dr. was as pleased as we were with the healing from the implants just two weeks ago and we went and enjoyed lunch. Went to get a temporary partial at Dr Michael Kriston's office in Danville when we left the Dr Kyle's office two weeks ago, and then we went for a late lunch where my wife enjoyed her soup - how that's unbelievable after her having the bones in your mouth drilled on for like 90 minutes by Dr Kyle and then partials installed by Dr Mike in just a few hrs!!! Drove 6 hrs in a morning on the California coast before one of my wife's follow up office visits - seeing the doctor and his staff was again super. I had a nasty time with a cracked tooth. Dr Van Brocklin came to my rescue and took me through the extraction to implant. He runs on time, Roxanne at the front desk takes time to explain costs and paper work, she has her finger on the pulse of the practice. I had minimal pain through the process and I like that your can get the medication at the practice and not have to go to a pharmacy. read more

Waiting time: still one star. Waited for 40min before Dr. finally sat down and talked to us, for less than 15min. Staff: 3.5 stars. Staff are professional, although I didn't feel extra warmth, they did everything in their responsibilities in a timely manner. Really pleased with my experience with Dr Van Brocklin. I finally got my wisdom teeth removed after avoiding it for years and years, and I chose Dr VB after a colleagues recommendation. The staff was very professional and friendly- they even put a warm blanket on me before my procedure. I had so much anxiety about the procedure being my first surgery, but I was put at ease by Dr VB's calm confidence and friendly demeanor. I hate dentists, but a maxofacial surgeon? A curse be upon him. Dr. Van Brocklin, what did he do? He yanked out two of my teeth. He jabbed me in my gums with a super long needle. He drilled into my jaw (with three different sized bits) He screwed in some implants (with something like a spark plug wrench). And you know what? I didn't feel a thing. He made me like it. He is awesome. A very bright guy. 5 Stars for you my friend. May you live long enough to jab many others with your long needle. read more

I called to ask about how much it cost to get my wisdom teeth removed. The office said they can't give me an estimate over the phone. I have to come in to get it. After I came in and talked to them I finally got an estimate, but I have not decided whether to do the procedure yet. Several days later I got a bill and there was a charge for consultation fee. They claim the consultation fee was part of the estimate that they gave me, but I saw the estimate AFTER I got the consultation. While I know that the dentist don't work for free, I feel they should have been upfront about their fees when I called and ask on the phone. I should be told about the fee BEFORE I went to the office for the consultation. read more

Dr. Van Brocklin and his entire staff are the BEST! I had to have 2 teeth pulled that required me to be put out and I was scared to death as I'd never been under anesthesia before in my life. Dr. Van Brocklin was fantastic at easing my fears by thoroughly explaining everything about the process to me prior to beginning. His assistant Nicole was also great at keeping me calm and comfortable. The entire procedure went off without a hitch...and the best part? Absolutely no pain at all! I was so pleased with the service I received at Dr. Van Brocklin's office that I referred my daughter there to have all 4 of her wisdom teeth pulled and she received the same excellent and caring service! I would give them 10-STARS if I could! Not that I'm in a hurry to ever return to have more oral surgery done, but if I ever do need some done, I won't go anywhere else! read more

I recently learned that it was impossible to save my tooth from hell (neither a crown nor a root canal fixed the pain -- the tooth was cracked all the way down). So, not being willing to stand in for Granny Clampett just yet, I decided to get an implant and got a recommendation and visited Dr. Van Brocklin. He seemed very nice and certainly came across as competent. However, the office experience set a rather different tone. When they explained the multi-thousand dollar charges for getting the tooth replaced (extraction, implant, bionic tooth) they emphasized over and over again that if I didn't show up, I was going to be charged. Dentists have to pay their bills too and I'm sure they get some no-shows, but I never miss appointments, and I felt uneasy at the staff's insistent assumption from the get-go that I would flake on them. This is also not the first dental office where I've sensed there is pressure to bill and drill for dollars, lurking just under the office's pleasant demeanor. But it was a little over the top. Cosmetic treatments must be very lucrative, because the office did everything possible to market them to the captive waiting room audience. When I was in the waiting room, I was subjected to a loud and endless video loop on a big flat TV screen pushing botox and other cosmetic treatments. It was presented in such a way as to inflame any female listener's lurking anxieties about not looking twenty-two any longer. First I asked the receptionist why on earth an oral surgeon's office was advertising botox. She said that they also offered all these cosmetic treatments. Then I asked her if she could please turn it off. I explained that I was there for some serious dental surgery that I'd never experienced before, I was sort of freaked out anyway, and it was really unsettling be bombarded with an endless video loop designed to make me anxious about getting old. Particularly since I was stuck there in the waiting room until the doctor would see me, and was already in a vulnerable position, feeling pretty anxious about the tooth from hell. She acted rather offended, and said it didn't bother her, she didn't even notice it. While she turned it off, the moment I went into the back, she turned it back on, and later when I had to settle the bill, it was blaring at me all over again. I mean, what?! I had a serious problem, but as soon as I hit the door, I got the hard sell for other services. Get it now! Botox! Facial laser resurfacing! Chin and cheek augmentation! Lip augmentation a la Angelina Jolie. Buy now so your husband won't trade you in for a younger model. And oh yeah, right, we also do *oral surgery,* like on teeth and things. I could understand if the office was advertising cosmetic dental procedures, like teeth capping, straightening, and whitening, but botox? It really shook my confidence in this oral surgery practice. So complicated and challenging oral surgery doesn't pay enough? Getting an implant is many thousands of dollars. I ended up seeing a different doctor, and when I called to cancel my appointment, I made sure I wrote down the receptionist's name, and the time and date I called, so they would not later assert that I had missed the appointment. read more

I was referred her by my dentist and my first appointment took forever to be seen. There were about 10 kids waiting to be seen that day. Every parent waiting "was in a hurry and couldn't wait" so I got pushed back over and over waiting over a hour after my scheduled appointment before I was seen. I also have children but they were being watched by a friend. Of course, I didn't complain about waiting so long, but these parents thought they were extra special and got slid in before my appointment. I then waited again in the room another for 15 minutes before they took a pano X-ray. I then waited again before I saw Dr. Brocklin. Some guy came in and chatted him up about his son, so I patiently waited for them to finish speaking. Once Dr. Brocklin came in, he was so nice. He was very laid back and wasn't making me uncomfortable due to my lack of oral care over the years. He was positive and said I would be good as new within a year. Today I had to get 3 teeth and a wisdom tooth removed. Once that heals I have to get implants. Not fun and as scared as I am of dentists, I felt as though I was in good hands. I left and had my teeth removed today. Everyone was very positive and made me feel comfortable. The procedure went smooth and I didn't feel anything. I was scared not going under would make me feel everything but I was actually just fine. They do take Credit Care but they only allows the 6 month plan that is offered. Not sure how that plan would work once I get implants? Overall, I recommend Dr. Brocklin for any surgical procedure. He was very efficient, kind and let me know what he was doing throughout the procedure. read more

My dentist referred me to Dr. Van Brocklin for the removal of a small fibroma caused from biting down too hard on my cheek. When I called to make the appointment, I asked if my dental insurance would cover the procedure. They said I'd have to call myself to find out (which I thought was weird since EVERY dentist I've ever gone to has called for me!) So I did, and as it turned out, the procedure was completely covered. My appointment was scheduled almost a month out but the day before the procedure I got a call asking if I could change it. I could not. When I showed up for the procedure I had to wait OVER AN HOUR to be seen. But no worries because for entertainment, they had a looped presentation on all the ways I could fight aging and try to look young forever. I even heard the receptionist telling another employee that the doctor had not yet returned from lunch! Finally, I was called in to be seen. I waited another 15 minutes to see the doctor. He said the procedure would take less than three minutes. I said, "Good, because I've already been here for an hour and 20 minutes." He said first I would have to sign paperwork. When the receptionist told me I needed to cover half of the fee, I informed her that I had already been told by my insurance company that the procedure was completely covered. She said she wasn't sure of this, and if that was the case then Dr. Van Brocklin would send me a check for the extra money paid out. I told her this was not how things are done in the medical professional and if she didn't believe me then she could call my insurance company herself...which she did. She also mentioned an additional mandatory $150 lab fee that insurance didn't cover that wasn't included in on the paperwork?? I said if a fee is mandatory, it would be included in the cost of procedure. I asked if I could decline this lab fee but got no answer. Finally, she came back complaining that my insurance company had cut her off twice and had a 30 minute wait. This was my cue to leave. I said "Perfect, because I've already wasted too much time here. Tell the doctor to bill my insurance for the consultation fee and good-bye!" I felt very strongly that Dr. Van Brocklin was a shady doctor who nickels and dimes his patients. His medical office clearly did not respect my time or money! read more

Very pricey, but when I was referred here for an emergency procedure for an infected wisdom tooth/face (fun, fun times), the priciness ultimately bought relief. Relief from pain, obviously, and also from anxiety about a procedure from hell. I'm pretty good with tooth nonsense, despite a horrible first wisdom tooth experience as a kid. But this time, I needed to be drained and have two wisdom teeth out--and it really was as painless as possible. His bedside manner's good and he does "comfort" well, there was good follow-up, and he brought me back into the safe zone without any additional pain or trauma. Despite the cost, I'd choose Dr. VB again, knowing I'd be in good hands. Edited to add 3/28/14: Unfortunately, requested a little info from my file a couple weeks back and never heard back. Had spoken with the woman at the front desk who said she'd locate the file and get back to me. Not really relevant to Dr. Van Brocklin's service, so leaving rating the same but dude, please just follow up with patient customer service. read more

Everyone has a different physiology. But I've had two extractions. The first one in 2012 by an unnamed office was an experience to remember. It was a tough 1hr and 10 minutes. I had to have additional Novacaine during the procedure. I promised myself I would brush, floss, and use anti-cavity mouthwash whenever I walked past a sink. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when as I was flossing, I flossed a crown right off. Was referred to Dr.Kyle Van Brocklin's ofc. During the consult, he assured me it would be just a very short procedure. I mentally flash back to my first procedure, and ask him to repeat. He went on to say that he was pretty sure I wouldn't be in much pain beyond OTC pain reliever. Well, I am happy to say that he was correct in his assessment. I downloaded a couple podcasts expecting to be there for at least 50 minutes. I didn't even get through one 30 minute podcast before he said he was finished. More so, my post op pain was maybe a 3 on a scale of 1-10. 10 being the worse. Again, everyone's physiology is different. But from my two experiences, I can say they were on opposite sides of the scale. I'm still in the process of healing up (bone graft) enough for the implant. But based upon my experience thus far, he gets 5 stars easy!!! Also let me add ofc experience was very good - although the waiting area is a bit small. read more

I have been coming here for the past year and a half for a front tooth extraction and implant. I have been nothing but pleased with this office, I always feel welcomed and cared about here. Dr. Van Brocklin is gentle and moves at a pace that you can handle, he will take his time answering any and all questions you have with complete honesty and you never feel rushed even though he's a very busy man. Super pleased with Dr. Kyle's bone graft work without significant discomfort, quick recovery and excellent results. The facility is near a health club and other recreational facilities - all the staff are friendly, helpful, through and efficient. Very pleased with the healing from the bone grafts in just a few weeks and have been able to enjoy eating very soon after surgery. After the inplants got a temporary partial at Dr Michael Kriston's office in Danville after the drilling for over an hour by Dr Kyle - just a few hrs for both. First rate experience from start to finish. Dr. Van Brocklin came highly recommended and rightly so. I needed two teeth removed for implants. My first impression of the office was Roxanne at the front desk who took time to explain thoroughly the costs and time involved. She was happy to answer all of my questions. I was nervous not knowing what to expect, especially pain wise. After all, does anyone love sitting in a dental chair with the noisy, acrid smelling drills, etc. Fast, painless and as easy as could be. There was no need for me to worry. Dr. Van Brocklin is very personable, knowledgeable, caring and a first rate clinician. I knew what to expect at each appointment, there were no hidden costs and the staff that I dealt with, Roxanne, Rosa and Dr. Van Brocklin's many year technical assistant whose name I sadly forget were all amazing, caring and always happy to answer any questions I had. Most of Dr's staff have been with him for multiple years so that reinforces what a nice fellow he is. In all of my many appointments I was always seen punctually with never a wait. Wow. I found a few of the reviews to be the furthest from the truth. Dr. Van Brocklin and staff are great!! I had two implants placed 3 months ago. At that time the procedure was thoroughly explained to me from start to finish and the staff took the time to explain my insurance benefits to me. Dr. Van Brocklin said that my case would be straight forward and he was right. He even called me the night of the procedure to see how I was doing. Recently when I was in his office for a post operative visit, I saw an info-video in his waiting room that showed procedures that he offers patients. While a few of the other reviews seem to find the information videos offensive, I found it to be informative. I asked Dr. Van Brocklin about the Ultherapy procedure and he reviewed with me in detailed. It is very apparent that he loves what he does, as he is very excited about talking about new modes of cosmetic treatment for patients. I had the Ultherapy procedure 2 weeks ago. It was truly an easy, but long procedure, Afterward I felt fantastic and although it is suppose to take months before the best results are seen, I have already noticed the decrease in loose tissue under my chin and jaw line. Again Dr. Van Brocklin called me to see how I was doing the night of the procedure.
