BEFORE and AFTER (Ignore the blue dot, think it's the screen reflection) Extremely happy with my care and results! Thankful for this team!

This review is long overdue. One Sunday afternoon on a golf course, I was accidentally struck in the mouth by a backswing, which dislodged several of my teeth. We reached out to Luxor for an emergency appointment. Dr. Raad and Dr. Zeba kindly agreed to open their office to treat me. The care I received was truly exceptional--beyond next level! Dr. Raad managed to realign my teeth perfectly. Even when one tooth needed a root canal, the whole process was surprisingly smooth, thanks to the advanced technology at the office. Dr. Raad was incredibly informative and gentle throughout, completely changing the usual experience you hear of a root canal. Even though I live over an hour away from Luxor, I'll keep making the drive because they're my top choice for a dentist! I can't recommend Luxor enough--fantastic people, excellent experience, and outstanding care!

I waited until my treatment was complete before I wrote this review. I had a fractured tooth with pain and was referred to Dr. Raad. He had to do a molar extraction and bone graft which sounded terrifying to me. After the procedure I was pleasantly surprised as it was uneventful and I only took one day off of work. Next the dental implant surgery was even more than a breeze. I now have a tooth again and my son just had his wisdom teeth extracted right before he left for college. Can't thank this office enough. Best dentist in San Ramon and Danville area!

They took my case last minute and came in on a Sunday. I felt they really care and were attentive. The surgery was painless.

I originally got my first two wisdom teeth out at another location and had a HORRIBLE experience, so naturally, I was riddled with anxiety about getting my other two teeth out. But Dr. Rega and his team were kind and caring and sensitive to what I was feeling. I was really nervous about getting my other two teeth out without anesthesia after my first experience (my insurance wouldn't cover it), but Dr. Rega made it as quick and painless as it could be. He told me what was going on every step of the way and continually asked me questions about how I was doing and what I was feeling. There were many tears on my end (and some borderline hyperventilating) from the stress and fear created by the first time I had my wisdom teeth out and every time I started to panic, he would crack a few jokes and make casual conversation until I felt better. He never made me feel rushed or ashamed for crying. I don't know what those first oral surgeons did to my mouth, but I could barely open my mouth for 2-3 DAYS following surgery. But with Dr. Rega, I was talking and eating 4-5 HOURS after surgery and only needed the bare minimum dose of pain medication. I really can't speak highly enough of Dr. Rega and every member of his staff I interacted with. I will absolutely return to him for any other oral surgery I may need (although fingers crossed I wont!). Thank you, Dr. Rega!

When I first met Dr. Rega, I felt hopeful. I had already been through a long and painful dental process, and I thought I was finally nearing the finish line. He seemed confident and enthusiastic about helping me with the extractions and implants I needed. Unfortunately, things didn't turn out the way I had hoped. An implant he placed in 2023 looked fine at first, but later scans from two other dentists showed it had been positioned crookedly and too close to another tooth. When I brought this up, he dismissed their findings and reassured me that everything was fine. I wanted to believe him -- but the problems continued. During later visits, additional extractions and implants were placed, and again, the alignment was off. One implant was so close to another tooth that it made future dental work complicated. I've asked for a partial refund, but was told that since the work "functioned," even if it wasn't "textbook ideal," no refund would be given. After two months without any follow-up or accountability, I felt defeated and frustrated. I'm sharing this not out of anger, but in hopes of helping others avoid the same situation. If you're considering major dental work, please advocate for yourself. Ask for clear scans, second opinions, and full explanations before moving forward. I wish I had done so sooner.

From the moment I walked in, the entire staff created an environment that felt welcoming, professional, and incredibly supportive. One of the things that stood out most was how communicative and transparent the team was throughout the entire process. Before the procedure, they took significant time to thoroughly explain my situation and why a coronectomy was the safest option for one of my wisdom teeth. Instead of rushing through the consultation, they carefully walked me through the anatomy of the tooth and its proximity to the nerve, explaining how a full extraction could increase the risk of nerve damage. They clearly laid out the pros and cons of a coronectomy versus full removal, making sure I understood the reasoning behind their recommendation. I really appreciated that they didn't just tell me what to do--they made sure I fully understood why the procedure was necessary and what the long-term outcomes would likely be. Dr. Shimel was especially impressive. He has a rare combination of technical expertise and genuine empathy that immediately puts patients at ease. It was clear that he truly cares about his patients, not just the procedure itself. He took the time to answer every question I had--no matter how small--and explained things in a way that was easy to understand without feeling rushed or dismissed. His calm and reassuring demeanor made a situation that could have been stressful feel very manageable. On the day of the surgery, the entire staff was incredibly attentive. They checked in frequently, made sure I was comfortable, and clearly explained what would happen before and after the procedure. The surgery itself went smoothly, and the post-operative instructions were extremely clear and detailed, which made recovery much easier. They also made sure I knew exactly what symptoms to expect and when to reach out if I had any concerns. What impressed me most overall was the level of professionalism combined with compassion. Dental surgery can be intimidating, but the team here consistently made me feel informed, respected, and cared for. It's clear that patient safety and comfort are top priorities. If anyone needs wisdom teeth removal or a coronectomy, I would absolutely recommend this practice. The expertise, communication, and empathy from Dr. Shimel and the entire team make them truly stand out. This was easily a five-star experience from consultation through recovery.

Office hours show in office and open, but then the times you go down there, they will not actually be there. This would not be a problem if they did not play a game with 'pay the full price before you get the work done or insurance pays' game, but unfortunately they require full payment up front- thus creating a mess to 'pick up your check' after the fact. They broke me two separate checks and required me to come down twice, calling me both times letting me know a check was there, instead of just waiting on both to show up. Again. Dr is nice and did solid work. The front desk and process is killing the ratings. No paying up front, and no requiring collecting checks twice. Fix your office hours to when you are actually in office- I know its mind blowing.

Gale Ranch…read moreFamily Dental happens to be my closest dental office, and they were willing to let me pay out-of-pocket for an emergency extraction (my dental HMO isn't great.) I was treated with so much respect and dignity. They didn't shame me for having a lapse in dental coverage or poor coverage. The facility looks like a beautiful, luxe spa. Pro tip: their bathroom definitely has a fun vibe and sweet speakers if you need to take a moment to freshen up before you're called into your appointment! The out-of-pocket price for my exam, x-rays and extraction were quite fair. They are transparent about you're paying for and show you exactly what you'll pay before they perform anything. They also offer a discount/membership plan, but I haven't subscribed yet. Special thanks to Zach, who is super friendly and helped me understand everything before my extraction. Mina did a fantastic job helping me understand my x-rays before I met with Dr. Choi, who extracted my very angry tooth. Although no one enjoys such things, I must say that the whole experience far surpassed my expectations. Everyone I've met is so kind and helpful. A week after the extraction I was worried that I might have dry socket, (I didn't) but thankfully Dr. Choi was able to fit me in to follow-up and prescribe some antibiotic mouthwash to help with the pain and swelling as my gum healed. Weeks later, my extraction site is looking healthy and I have zero pain.

Unfortunately, it now feels more like you're a wallet and a number. The practice seems much more focused on growth, volume, and revenue. Every time I come in, I see new people and new doctors, and the personal, familiar feeling is gone. My most recent visit was especially disappointing. I was asked to sign three pages of paperwork focused almost entirely on cancellation policies, late fees, and additional charges. It felt less like patient care and more like, "How can we get more money out of you?" The cleaning was even more concerning. While the hygienist was taking my gum measurements, a doctor came in and interrupted the cleaning to examine me. The examination happened before the cleaning was complete, so the doctor was making an assessment without the lower gum measurements being taken. In my case, I have implants, crowns, and significant dental work along my lower gum line, which makes this particularly concerning. A second doctor came in shortly after, but the hygienist told him the examination had already been done. The lack of coordination was surprising. Once the doctor left, the hygienist quickly wrapped up. The lower gum measurements were never taken, the scraping was not done, and there was no polishing. A cleaning that normally takes me over an hour was finished in about 20 minutes. My concern is not the hygienist personally--she was pleasant. It's the lack of coordination and the rushed, high-volume approach. After years of loyalty, it's disappointing to see a practice that once felt personal and caring become so transactional. I hope Gale Ranch Dental doesn't lose sight of patient care while focusing on growth.

Good luck it was finding Dr. Jin, whose offices and equipment are always state-of-the-art! For example, at the start of the pandemic, she quickly acquired the latest health-safety equipment that enabled her to continue serving her patients without hazard. Her office and its location comes close to "luxurious," as well as just simply lovely, comfortable and convenient (easy access from HWY 680 in San Ramon, fairly near Costco, etc.) For all this, one might anticipate top-of-the-line billing, but no, compared to charges from other dentists dating from 10 years ago, not unreasonable. Especially, considering all the extra expenses I would be paying for the unnecessary procedures that had been proposed - and on one occasion "demanded" if I were to become a patient. I recently dropped my retired-teacher dental insurance and am now on self-pay, which turns out to be cheaper, even given a new crown looming in the future. The courtesy and sincere interest the entire staff shares with you reinforce the comfortable feelings you feel the first time you step into the building itself, even before reaching the office. And an extra plus: highly skilled hygienists...Tiffany, for one, is the best ever ! That being said, all in all, trust is the best feature of Dr. Jin's service -- she trusts you and will work with you to meet your situation and needs. And you can definitely trust her !
