Hubby and I tried this on a whim... looking for a dessert spot coming from biking and Crabbers meal. This was perfect because it was so light. Our girls each got their own and couldn't finish it. We got two strawberries shortcakes, and one Twix. They were all delicious! I especially love the fresh fruit. The place has such a cool vibe with colorful penguin art, a huge throne chair that is perfect for pictures, and fun pops of color everywhere you look. I visited the village market pop up at Yoga Village in Clearwater today, and saw this food truck called Vampire Penguin! I wanted to try it but I'm on a strict diet that includes no dairy or added sugar. Jessica kindly made something up for me on the spot. The employees was super helpful and patient as we bombarded him with every question possible about the shop. The shop takes and freezes flavored water into a circular "wheel-shape" slab of ice. They then place it on a wheel that has a blade and shaves the ice into a cup below. The employee then decorates the ice into beautiful little masterpieces of goodness. They have a wide variety of flavors and toppings to appease anyone. It's has the texture like eating freshly fallen snow, light and fluffy, and then is flavored with your favorite flavor (this yellow snow is ok to eat lol). The customer service was great. I dont know if this would replace traditional ice cream, but it is an interesting idea. As others have said, the only other branches of this are in Cali and Manila, Phillippines. If it were closer, I would return frequently to try the other flavors. Why 5 stars? Because this is worth the drive from anywhere in Tampa Bay. --- --- --- This place is basically my dream. When we walked in, it was explained that they serve something that's basically a mix of shaved ice and ice cream. Every single time I have shaved ice, I wish it were thicker/smoother. Every time I eat ice cream, I wish it were a bit lighter. Again, this place is my dream. Easily the worst part of the experience is having to choose what to order because every item looks like it could change your life. I truly wish I had the stomach capacity to sit in here for a few hours and just order like ten of these. We ended up landing on the S'mores and the Banana Cream Pie. I could not have been happier with these choices. The entire time, I kept wishing that there was a location closer to our house. Then again, I can't complain - every other Vampire Penguin location is in California, besides the one in the Philippines. How random that they opened a location in Seminole, Florida, of all places?
