Was looking for a king cake for Mardi Gras. Didn't want the usual Publix offerings because it's boring AF. FB suggested Fridas. I've never been here before. I drove over and bought a king cake for $20 something dollars which I thought was a bit expensive, but I'll try anything once. This was by far, the best king cake I've ever had. They have a vast selection of pastries and sandwiches to suit all sorts of eaters, and all meal orders come with a tasty cake sample. While I'm not a huge fan of the baked goods, I enjoy the donuts and the blueberry scones. I buy a lot of their speciality baked goods for gifts, but haven't really tried them. They are beautiful. I wish I came to Frida's earlier in my trip - I wasted two breakfasts on mediocre hotel food when I could have been eating my way through those stunning bakery cases! I'm glad I ordered online because had I ordered in person I wouldn't have been able to decide- everything looks amazing and what I did get proves the flavor matches the look. The guava turnover was flaky, the nice crunch from the finishing sugar, and generously filled with guava paste. The guava cheese danish was buttery but not overly sweet and filled just right to balance the pastry with the filling. The Boston cream donut was a delightful cake donut that wasn't too sweet and a cream filling that was slightly sweet and eggy and just perfect- as well as heavy! I also got a sausage, egg and cheese panini which is served as an adorable little round and just the perfect breakfast bite. Real, gooey cheddar with a perfectly cooked hard egg and well seasoned sausage patty. I love the mix of European, Hispanic, Italian, and standard American pastries. There's something for everyone, and some really unique things you don't find everywhere! It's the only lunch restaurant where I order a drink (as their coffees and iced drinks are a step above) and it's the only lunch restaurant where I can order a salad and not regret getting a sandwich (as the Buddha Bowl is incredible). Also, if you need a cake - this is the place to go! Love their tres leche cake (see pic) and their death by chocolate. Their selection of cookies and pastries is also pretty impressive. This is a great deli and bakery in midcounty. I happened to be the area for work and stopped in because I always heard good things about it. I ordered a large greek salad and a tea. The hibiscus tea was good and the greek salad was too. All the ingredients were very fresh. It did not have beets but that is ok with me because I don't like beets. The cool thing is they include a little piece of spice cake on the side of the plate so you have a little dessert when you are finished with the salad. I looked at the bakery counter and everything looked amazing but since I was going to be someplace without a place to keep it for a few hours I didn't.
