Came here this afternoon to get an oil change for my company truck and it went well. I called earlier in the morning to check how the whole process works and the lady answered with a friendly tone, answered all my questions and was friendly. I went and got the oil changed and checked my tires for air, the guy was friendly and got to work right away as soon as you pull into the bay. I was out of there within 15 minutes. Got a oil change today once I left I drove about 4 min up the street and my car started to make a funny noise and my oil light came on so I pulled over and turned off my car. the valvoline technician called me and said my oil filter fell off and that I left a trail of oil behind my vehicle as I drove. They came out to where I stopped the technician took oil from the ground that spilled out of my engine put it on the seal of the oil filter and added some oil then told me to come back to valvoline where they topped off the oil and said I was all set. I live on the South Shore of MA and am almost never on the North Shire, especially with free time, but today I was so I stopped in cause I knew I was close to needing an oil change (I was at 39,900 and need one at 41k). They were SO great! The kid who checked me in was very informative and knowledgeable because I forgot what kind of oil I needed. I'm immuno-suppressed and high COVID risk, so the only reason I decided to stop was that I could stay in my car and not have to go into the waiting room. The kid even asked me if it was ok if he opened my door to scan my vin before he did it which I appreciated. The older guy immediately started running the check on my fluid levels and even checked my tire pressure in my four tires while the kid checked me in. Also the other employees if we made eye contact they smiled at me as they walked by causing a pleasant aura. Now, I don't wanna get anyone in trouble or anything-since it's probably not what they *should* do, business wise-but the whole visit was a great experience! Really! At that point the older guy told me that my oil was in great condition that and he didn't want to take my money and do an oil change that I clearly didn't need. (He even showed me how my oil was still golden honey colored). He still topped off all my fluids and told me exactly when to come back. I'm actually considering driving all the way up to Everett to get my oil changed there when I do need it-in 2k miles-despite passing multiple other places to get it done everyday on my way to work throughout Weymouth/Quincy and Dorchester. So I pull in and there are already too many cars in the lot, but god forbid someone come out & arrange them in order of first come - first served right... Now keeping in mind I have been coming here for YEARS... So I finally get in and the 12 year old doing my oil change has WAY too much attitude & I cant mention his name because the Tech who did the paperwork picked Jennifer as the Topside rep and This boy surely wasnt a Jennifer, I saw his name but cant remember it... So he has NO CUSTOMER service skills and is just doing this because clearly he needs a paycheck, Years ago there were people here at this spot that were so nice & friendly and it was a joy to go to, this visit, NOT SO MUCH! So My tire light was on so I KNOW I needed air in my tires, the mgr kid running the computer was called away a few times, so he came back & I mentioned I needed air in my tires to which he then mentioned to the kid doing the work & he said "Ooh I checked them all they were fine" OOH REALLY!??! Showed him the Tire light On and he then went & did it himself and was like Ooh its 24 to the kid & the kid, was like Yeah I Checked it... OK... Lets lie about tires now... Then he shuts the lid & is like done, First off not that I ever know what it means when they show me the dipstick thingy with oil, but he NEVER did that either, I had purchased Wipers that he was just going to leave sitting on the hood & not put those on either, so then the Manager kid (the computer one) did those as well and was super nice, but the kid doing the work was WORTHLESS... You knew you had to interact with the public when you took this job... Get your shit together, I honestly want to send a note to corporate but without someones name Im sure I would just sound like I was complaining more than I already am... The fact that my VERY FIRST yelp review is to complain about a place makes me sick. I paid a visit to this location Friday afternoon. I usually go to Honda and pay $40 for oil change but Friday I had to go to NY for a family emergency. I decided to go to this location for the fact that it was an instant oil change and my job is 3-4 minutes away. I ended up paying $133 for an oil change ($92 for the oil) and the rest were for filters that I didn't even know existed. As a 22 year old 2 year driver, I don't know absolutely anything about cars... before leaving the shop, I told the gentleman who helped me that I had to drive to NY that same day and I would very much appreciate it if he made sure I was good to go. He assured me that everything was fine. At 7 PM I was making my way to NY and while on the highway I was playing music when all of a sudden I received a phone call and that's when I realized there was something wrong. Apparently the shield that covers the oil, was not screwed back in properly. There I was on the highway, trying to make it to NY by myself, with a shield scraping and no nearby place to go to and get it fixed. After trying out a couple of different speeds, I realized that I couldn't go any slower than 35MPH & no faster than 45MPH in order to not hear that scraping sound. Now imagine going less than the speed limit on the highway!!! Cars flashing their high beams and honking at you, and you're just there not sure what is going to happen because you have never experienced something like that with your car and on your own. Luckily the next day I was able to get it fixed and on my drive back to Boston I had no issues what so ever. I decided to go back today to express my concern and make sure that this doesn't happen to someone else and immediately the manager who helped me (forgot his name but I will be back with it)assumed I was just asking for a refund. As a manager who deals with upset customers every single shift, I understand every other manager. I am also a very understanding person because I understand that not everybody is perfect. However, the manager made me feel as if I was just a crazy person who was just hearing shit and just wanted my money back. After showing him pictures, the pieces I purchased and even calling the person who fixed the issue, this manager made it clear that he did not believe me and he still went ahead and refunded me. That is absolutely no way to run a business, if in the end all he was going to do was refund my money back then why try to pick a debate with me and make me seem like a liar? He even took pictures of what the shield looked like to show me and told me that his men did nothing wrong. Well of course there is nothing wrong now because I got it fixed in NY, there was no way I was going to drive back in that condition. Situations like these make me not even look at the place when I drive by it and I will make sure that I encourage people who I know to never visit this location so that they don't go through this again. read more

Service was poor. A week ago I went for oil change and they told me for fully synthetic oil it would be $84.99 before tax. After the oil change they asked me for $106 something saying that the car needed an extra quart without mentioning that at the beginning. Before leaving the place I have noticed that they didn't restart oil change light and didn't inflate my tires. I brought that to somebody's attention and he sent a guy to do it. When I was ready to leave for second time another guy showed up with a sticker and said 'Here you go' instead of put it on my windshield. I did it myself but the low tire light was still on. I asked the gentleman who changed my oil to check my tires but he responded that he can not get to my front right tire! BEWARE! They should be shut down and investigated along with the entire staff being replaced! I've went to this Valvoline several times as it is the closest location to where I live. I try to get there right when they open but on multiple occasions they were not open because they didn't have enough staff show up to work on time. They check off things on the computer that they don't ever actually check, it's a complete scam. The employees are lazy and unprofessional, one manager even smoked a cigarette with no mask on during COVID and came up to my window and wanted me to roll it down to talk!! NOW, The WORST part... the last TWO times (yes, two times!) I went there, both times I ended up with a completely flat tire shortly upon leaving. Once in December 2020 and once today 2/15/2021. After the first flat tire I actually bought 4 new tires, these tires are only two months old and thanks to Valvoline Everett, I'm incurring lots of extra costs on tire repair and Uber's to get to school and tire shop, even had to rent a car last time because my cat is sick and I had a vet appointment. Valvoline needs to compensate me for my tire damage, all of the Uber rides and my car rental cost. This is unacceptable business practice and downright criminal, you will be reported to the BBB unless this is resolved immediately. read more

I had my oil changed here and went to my mechanic to get some other work done - he checked the oil after the car had been off for a while and told me they didn't put enough oil in the car. That explains why every time I go here, my oil light comes on at about 2500 miles (not the maintenance light but the light that indicates that the car is low on oil). On top of that, they charge more than twice what other places charge for a conventional oil change. And try to sell you services you don't need. Needless to say, I don't trust this place at all. Super fast! They literally change your oil and filter in 10 minutes or less. In addition to that, they check your tire pressure, brake fluid, antifreeze, windshield wiper fluid, etc. Also, if you are low on ANY of your fluids, you can go to any Valvoline and they will top you off free of charge. I like this one because it is close to my house, they have convenient hours (open early in the morning and closes around 7 or so... even open on Saturdays), no appointment required, they have 4 bays that they work on, and in all the time I've been going there, I've never had to wait. I've never been anywhere else other than my dealership for oil changes, and while this place is cheaper than my dealership, I still think the price is a tad high. The last time I went, it cost me over $80 for the oil change, and they tried to tack on some sort of filter on top of that. I declined the optional filter, knowing they were just doing their job and trying to add on to the sale, but the filter was something I could easily get at Auto Zone for like $20 and install myself. This Valvoline location is one of the better ones I have been to. I can completely inept at doing anything related to cars myself, so I have visited quite a few oil change locations. My biggest pet peeve is when they try and up-sell you on random things and make it sound like your car is about to break down -- however this location does not do that! They tell you services they offer but never once did I feel pressured to add something extra. The prices a litter higher compared to other shops in the area, but they are quick and painless. There is also a Yelp check-in discount, so I was able to save $10 as well. The employees are friendly and not pushy (there are places that try and intimidate you to buy more). Complete scammers - do not trust. I went to get my oil changed, no problem. They tell me that my battery is very corroded... so corroded they could not even test it and that I need a new one. I was skeptical since I had no issues with my car starting. I brought it to my mechanic yesterday who actually laughed out loud when I told him they said 'it was too corroded to test' as he says that is an impossibility and then told me that I did NOT need a new battery and mine was perfectly fine. I then called Valvoline and spoke to a manager and told him the scenario and that it was very wrong of them to try and scam me into buying a new unnecessary battery. Scammers and liars. Don't ever go. My wife took my car with 25k miles on it for an oil change and came with a $300 bill. They told her my car needed transmission fluid change even though it is not due for another 80k miles. They took advantage of somebody who isn't familiar with cars and scare her to buy stuff she didn't need it ask for. And when I took my car to another location for the next oil change, the filter I put in there 6 months ago was still there with the date on it. Since they didn't bother to change the filter, I am not even sure if they change the oil. Another Jiffy Lubes case here. I'm writing this as a warning against all Valvolines. My girlfriend and I have had 3 issues between 2 oil changes at 2 different locations. She had leaking oil from a "incorrect gasket" and had a plastic guard hanging off her undercarriage from a missing bolt (this location). We had to go back twice to get them to fix everything. I had oil leading from a cap that wasn't tightened all the way (another location). All the issues were acknowledged and fixed by the managers. If I'm paying to have my oil changed, I don't need to be worrying about the work or future unseen damage to my car. read more

I went here for oil change about a month ago. Over the weekend, there was a big stain of oil in our driveway. I took the car to a local garage and found out the screw was loose and causing oil leak. Have been to this place on multiple occasions. Constantly waiting a long time and service is ok. Today had me livid though. Went in for an oil change, car in good condition and while changing the oil, they man broke a part in where the oil stays then preceded to state that the car was already broken before it arrived. I take care and keep my care in good condition as I use it to drive to work for an hour everyday. I would not drive my car if there was something wrong. When we told them that there was nothing wrong before they kept saying it wasn't their fault and to just not drive too much.
