In October of 2025 I brought my 2016 Hyundai Tucson to the Dover, DE location for a set of brakes…read moreand rotors (I can't remember if it was front or back at this point it's been so long) and four new tires. I paid $1600 for the service. About a week later, the front tire on the passenger side falls off my car (due to improperly installed lug nuts) while it's in motion. This caused extensive damage that ended up totaling my car. The company accepted full liability, but once they learned that the damage would cost more to fix than the value of my car, they were no longer willing to fix it. The claims department offered a settlement for what they deemed to be the value of the car. Although, I was financing the vehicle, so I could not accept it. Aside from the eventual conclusion of the car being deemed a total loss, I had to deal with a tow truck driver threatening to impound my car due to not being paid by Firestone. I also had to deal with Enterprise Rental Car threatening to charge my debit card since they hadn't been paid either. Both situations took emotional distress and anger on my part to resolve. The accident happened in October of 2025 and my car wasn't fully evaluated and totaled out until February of 2026. This was a long, drawn out, tragedy that I was made to pay out of pocket for due to the circumstances. Go ANYWHERE else!

Last Friday afternoon, I picked up and paid for my 1987 Dodge Ramcharger…read more I had to bring my vehicle back after only about 3-4 months after they performed over $3,800(!) in repairs. The reason for the return visit was a "block off" plug just fell out ("rattled out", their words) on one of the 2 new exhaust manifolds that they had just replaced. No only would they not take ownership on an obvious "comeback", they charged me $85 to diagnose their own failure in workmanship. I also requested (me, not them) to have the both valve cover gaskets & all 8 spark plugs replaced. (V8 motor). I was bringing it back for the previously discussed oil leaking valve cover gaskets and the oil soaked (on the exterior) spark plugs from prior $3,800 visit. I didn't have an issue with either their hourly rate or the labor times charged, but I was price gouged over $120 for 8 Champion CopperPlus resister type regular spark plugs (NAPA list, $5.99/ea.) and over $75 for the set of Fel-Pro valve cover gaskets (NAPA list, $32.99). That's more than DOUBLE the list price on parts. I was planning on bringing my wife's Sentra back in again, but not now, not ever. You'd figure with the cost of advertising and new customer acquisition, they would want to retain existing customers, but obviously not.

I needed to get my tires changed and this was the closest. As they were pulling the car in, I…read morecalled Pepboys and discovered that their prices were more competitive. Whatever.. I cut my loses. While they had it in there, I asked the receptionist if the mechanics could find out what's going on with my Check Engine light. Now, I had my uncle (a mechanic for 50+ years) look at it already and he told me the light was just faulty. But my car was also becoming jittery and the dash lights were blinking so I figured I'd get a second opinion. The receptionist offered me some scan valued at $110 that he'd do for "free." He came back insisting the problem was the airflow sensor and that I needed to change my filter. I agreed to it but inquired about the light just possibly being on. "No, no, no," he smiled, "It's never just gonna be 'on.' There is always something wrong with the Check Engine light on. It might be the air filter, which is why we're changing it." I'm a mechanic on aircrafts so I should have trusted a tenured auto mechanic's opinion. On my way home, I discovered the light was still on-- go figure! I was too far to turn around so I made a mental note to go back. Two days later, I finally did and questioned the purpose of changing the filter. The receptionist says to me astonished, "I didn't say it was going to FIX it. I just gave you the code." I had no idea what he was talking about. Appallingly/defensively and almost with an air like I was the clueless one, he explains that I had the air filter changed because it needed to be changed, he just gave me a "code," and that "They could run a scan. It's worth $110 but we'll do it for you for free." I'm not argumentative but, at that point, I'm wondering if I dreamt my initial trip there. The mechanic goes out to the car and starts fiddling under the steering wheel. He comes back with the results and the receptionist tells me he couldn't even connect. He says there's something wrong with the wires and that I could take it back to the dealership to get answers. Thank you for wasting my time and money with your sales hijinks, Goodyear. Honesty and communication is the BEST policy. I am NEVER going back.
