My experience was similar to the person who was grossly over charged, and fortunately I only…read morewasted the $160 service fee. I did not know it was just a "diagnostic" fee. I only received the invoice, not the contract. A pleasant young man arrived without a ladder and told me they don't usually go on the roof. At the DC disconnect he checked the voltage, but not the amperage. I work in PV Solar research and had already found the problem before it started a fire, and simply wanted to judge the workmanship for a future repower project. The story gets much worse, and I am glad I only wasted $160. Interestingly, when I asked how much more it would be to make a more permanent repair, it was going to be another $600 just like the other person "who never writes a review". How 10 feet of 10 AWG USE-2 wire and two MC4 connectors could cost over $760 is astonishing! I understand how much it costs to roll a truck, but seriously! Also, I never received a reply to my Request For Proposal for repowering. My impression is that they are looking for victims not customers. In the past I had an intelligent conversation with a technician, but he is no longer there. I am fleeing, and frankly, if you see me running, then you should start running too. Revision- I just received a refund and I am grateful. However, I remain disappointed that we could not develop a working relationship. Someday I will need to replace my system, which is called "Repowering". When the time comes I was hoping to have a good history with an established company. I believe that Positive Energy Solar is probably very competent at installing new systems, however, as in other trades, there is a world of difference between being a good installation technician and being a good diagnostican. Installation is the low hanging fruit in any trade, and being good at it is important and critical to the longevity of any system. However, when a technician arrives without a ladder to diagnose a roof-mounted PV Solar system, then I immediately have a high index of suspicion that they might be exaggerating their diagnostic skills. Positive Energy Solar did not install my system, and I was abandoned by another company many years ago. This is true for many aging PV Solar systems. My system is old enough that it doesn't have Rapid Shutdown. So, as with many older PV Solar systems you really have to find the problem post-haste in case there is a short that could start a fire. It can be easy, or it can be a pain in the kister. Mine was the later. I wish I could recommend a company or an individual electrician that is good at that because many systems are failing regularly. It's often due to water infiltration at the junction boxes. However, PLEASE DO NOT mess with it. Electricity kills! Not just shock you; electrocute you. If anyone knows an electrician who can also diagnose PV Solar systems, then let's get their name out there. Even the technician who came to my house said that they see about one case of failed wiring each week. (I guess sometimes they actually bring a ladder and get on the roof.) Newer systems will usually self-limit by shutting down, but older systems may not. I monitor my system closely by habit and by vocation. Consequently, knew within a day or two that there was a problem. Despite all of this I still love PV Solar.

I didn't get an alert from my monitoring app. I have had my solar system since the 2018 install. When I called PNM, I was told that they wouldn't help since I owned my own system. Their advice, turn off my air conditioning to lower my power bill. Thats great advice when it's over 100* outside. FU PNM rep. I reached out to 4 different solar companies but couldn't get anyone to follow thru. I finally reached #1 Plumbing. I was able to get an appointment when the tech actually showed up and get an estimate on what it would cost to replace my inverter. The techs showed up when they said that would, fixed my inverter and helped me with the app. I am so grateful that this is done. Plus they were great to work with. Very friendly and courteous. I would definitely recommend them if you have any issues with your solar system. I'm already planning on having them come back to clean out my dryer vents.

I felt like they were inappropriate, so I called #1 to review the "other" companies work. They were able to point out the flaws that would block my new heat pump from being green-tagged. They pointed out the green tag was missing. They didn't charge me. So, I called them again a few months later because they proved themselves to be honest people.
