I had smelled a skunk smell coming from my basement and had called my "former" plumber and told him…read moreabout the smell. He came out and turned off the gas to my heating system. The smell was completely gone when he arrived. His conclusion as he left was I needed to replace the heating system. When I returned I called Valverde/Bond Plumbing and spoke with Lacey and asked if they might come out and look at the system. This was on a Friday and they were booked but Lacey called me back several times that day to say they were trying to get to me. By 5pm the service Tech John Montoya was at my house. I told him about the skunk smell the week before and he thought one probably sprayed near the house and the smell came into the basement from the vents. He turned the gas back on and spent an hour checking all the gas lines, thermostat etc. and said nothing was wrong with the boiler. He turned the gas back on and installed a carbon monoxide detector I had purchased. This was a month ago and the boiler has been working perfectly so no new Heat system needed after all. They were quite open to fit me in their schedule and once I mentioned my preferences..they were able to get me in the following morning..even when it's early out! At a little after 7, they texted to let me know Cesar their technician was on the way...and very soon after..I got a knock on my door by 7:30! Cesar was very thorough in diagnosing the minisplit problem that I had..and was able to help provide me with some good recommendations on what to do with the minisplits! I have used Kidzz for a few years for my swamp cooler. First couple years they were reliable,…read morereasonably priced and professional. Last yeat a couple guys came out and my swamp after that just didnt seem to cool so well. it is less than 5 yrs old. This year their prices had increased at least 50% and the service guy estimated i needed parts and my swamp would cost 491.00 to start. It was hard to believe. My friend recommended a handyman. He bought a 16 dollar part and charged me 50 dollars for the service. It is cooling the best it ever has. KIdzz seems to have "up priced" me 350 dollars. Or their aervice person has some competence issues. Not sure if its because I am a woman living alone Or because people need to cool their homes and will pay a lot. Not sure... Just wanted to provide a small warning to others. Get a second opinion.
