Charlotte, NC Absolute worst customer service that I've experienced from a service company. After my initial treatment, I still had ants in an upstairs bedroom. I was told by the technician that I needed to wait 21 days before calling if the insect problem persisted. I waited as close I could to that time frame before calling for a follow-up service. I called and was given an appointment, the technician never showed or called. I called the next day to see what happened and was told my appointment was on a different day and time than what was previously stated. I challenged the incorrect information. the customer service rep. acknowledged the incorrect information and then told me there was a scheduling conflict. I was given a new appointment and on the morning of that appointment I received a text that the appt. was cancelled. I called and was told the technician was sick. I was given a Saturday date and time; I re-arranged my schedule to accommodate this new time. On Thursday morning of that week, I received a call asking if I would be home today because the supervisor needed to come today. I was unable to accommodate this change and told the rep to cancel my service because of their terrible customer service, her reply was that they were trying to work with me, I replied, no you're not trying to work with me because you keep cancelling my appointments. The rep became upset that I was unavailable for this impromptu change. I told her the only thing I've asked you to do is cancel my service. She hung up. I do not recommend this company. Their customer service is terrible. Extremely unprofessional and ill-equipped to provide good service. read more

Just be aware of the one year contract. Honestly just super disappointed in the lack of heart of this company. We called them to take care of ants and roaches in a house we moved into. They came out to do services after speaking to my husband over the phone to come spray. The ants/roaches were discussed but never termite treatment. My husband was not home when they came out so they asked for me to sign the paperwork for the day. I asked if I was signing/ paying just for the services that day and they said yes. After that, I was charged a few other times and called and they said we were on a monthly plan and would come out and spray again (which I was fine with going month to month). Well, then covid happened and we ended up needing to sell the house and move quickly. I called to get off the month to month payment plan and they said we were locked into a year agreement and had to pay it bc I signed the contract. Turns out that the day they came out, I was actually signing for a year... and not just for the services we paid for, but for expensive termite treatment (which we did not request or want)... we already had that covered. They did not communicate what we were paying for. When we called and talked to the owner to explain that we weren't told about the year contract or termite treatment, he basically said "sorry- you signed" and you're out of luck. Knowing that they record calls- we asked if that could be done to prove what we were told or if any grace could be shown since we were moving due to unforeseen circumstances and only using their services for a couple of months, he said no and asked to charge my card $500 on the spot. I get that it's business, but I also believe that you should support quality people who care for their customers. They had the opportunity to show grace and did not. I used for a year because I was never told there was a contract after my voice acceptance over the phone (1st problem). They find every excuse to not do their job and I was left with bugs inside and out. There's NO insect prevention AT ALL! They sprinkled granules ONLY around my pavers outside when I complained. It's a "call when you see something company" (2nd problem). No termite insurance or No preventative treatments for Termites or anything else. Once a year check for termites and if you end up with them and damaged property, they will kill them only and your responsible to repair the damage! (3rd BIGGEST problem) They are here for 5 minutes and write up a big report like they actually done something. The biggest waste of money I have ever seen in my opinion. I'll take care of insect prevention myself with bug and termite prevention from Lowes and save 59.99 a month and have no bugs! I had 4 different Value pest reps in the year of service! I'm now stuck paying for 2 properties for the remainder of the year. Do not do business with this company. They are just inherently dishonest and do not disclose the one year contract you're signing. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They will rip you off faster than you can blink. We were with them for 2 years under a contract that was complete bs. Loved our pest guy (Colton) but the company was awful and the customer service was mediocre on a good day. Then yesterday I called to get an emergency treatment only to be told we were being dropped as customers because we are in a rental property. Just like that, with no warning we were dropped and left to find an emergency exterminator. Apparently they can break that contract whenever they want, but if we were to do it we would have been penalized. We were also refused a refund for our last billing cycle even though we were never serviced. I didn't raise a stink because, honestly, we are just happy to be done with them! read more

This is an additional comment in reference to a review I left 3 years ago. Today I noticed, the company's owner stated that they do not serve rental properties for termites because renters cannot be responsible for payment and this was the reason for the mis-understanding. Just wanted to clarify, in the review...I am the landlord, not the tenant. I own the property in discussion, I am not a tenant. Again..Thought I bought a termite bond that could be renewed yearly, but learned later they do not do this. Just want to make sure the review is honest, that's all. I have used Value Pest for 3 years with fair results and poor home office customer service. I called today to see why they hadn't been out for their quarterly and was told it was because lack of payment. We switched to paperless invoicing months ago and they didn't update the email address appropriately. Nobody contacted us about this issue, instead they let us lapse. Value Pest then proceeded to tell us the only way to reestablish service was to sign up for a monthly rate that was nearly 2x what we were paying for the last 3 years. read more

Value Pest has serviced us for several years. However recently we were notified by them that we were to receive our quarterly service, and we paid for it. However, Value Pest never showed up and when we twice contacted them, we were told we would not receive the service unless we paid for a new more expensive plan that they were now offering. We said we were not interested in the new contract but wanted the service we had paid for. Rudely we were informed that we would not get the service nor a reimbursement of our payment. We have made an unsuccessful attempt through our bank to be refunded, but they have had no success. read more

This disorganization lead to one of our properties not getting service for 6 months and trying to work with them on a resolution was HORRIBLLE!! Spoke with their service manager Mark and Owner, Bob Jones, both were argumentative and defensive. Horrible customer service skills, apologizes were an afterthought in their statements. Realizing the customer service leadership lead by the owner, we have cancelled all our accounts and don't recommend using Value pest at all!! Purchased termite contract at end of July/August. Renewal is supposed to be every 12 months, which is normal. However, I got an email in February(about6-7months ltr) informing me my contract was going to cancel if I did not renew by end of month. I emailed them, letting them know the contract was not up for renewal for several months. Today I received a sales call informing me that I needed to renew and they did not understand my email. I made the lady look at my contract/renewal date from 6/7 months ago and informed her that I would not be renewing early, which would involve paying for about 6 unused months. Tried to inform her that trying to figure out which customers are less informed so they can take advantage is unethical. She got mad and hung up. If I pay a large amount of money for a termite treatment and the renewal is 1 year later, I am going to use my whole year and renew at the anniversary, not before. By shortening the year, the customer loses money. Also, I called them on another one of my properties a few days ago to spray for ants. They only do a universal bug contract of $59 a month. Granted, it covers ants and termites. If it is a rental property, it must be paid all at once. So, I just called a competitor and they sprayed the ants for $150 with a 30 day guarantee. read more

Called Value Pest, the nice CS rep passed me on to I guess a unhappy, argumentive manager named Marc, whom proceeded to deny I had found this kind of spider because they only existed in the Midwest. Hm, after describing what I found to a Lake Wylie wildlife officer, he said that was a Brown Recluse and suggested a professional treatment, which is what I got today Marc, that was not Value Pest! read more
