I got a full-length wool coat, an Old Navy skirt, and a leather jacket for my husband for around $15 here.

This Value World is in a rundown part of Ypsilanti, and it's not glamorous. The first time I went there, I wasn't sure it was open for business until I saw people leaving carrying big black garbage bags full of their gently used treasures. I specifically decided to check it out for winter coats this past February since all of the stores in the area that sold new clothing had pretty much depleted their stock of winter clothing. They had a great selection of coats. My husband was with me and hadn't intended to make a purchase, but he was impressed with the great deals on used leather coats. We ended up leaving with a beautiful barely-worn Old Navy skirt and full length Christian Cole wool winter coat for me and a leather jacket for him, all for about $15. I had been frequenting the Ann Arbor Value world, but I think I'll have to hit up the Ypsilanti one more often.

Great clothes and great prices BUT no dressing rooms. It's hard to tell if a pair of jeans fit if you can't try them on.

I like that the aisles are big enough for 2 people, unlike how tiny the Ann Arbor one seemed to be.

In fact, in front of the cash register there are free items such as health and beauty products, socks, and non perishable foods. These are free to anyone. I was at the front door today when the opened and the owner was excited to greet us all and walk us inside. There are two sides to the shop. Inside the door is the decorative things and kitchen items. Along with the cash register. The other side of the store has clothing, shoes, games and puzzles. Clothing is sorted by color in men's, women's, and children. There is also a fitting/storage room to try on clothing. I love this!!! I spent quite some time in here because it seemed like I was always seeing something new. Be sure to look on the walls and window displays. I found some of my favorite finds in the windows. I'm so excited about this new thrift store. The owner said they will constantly be putting out new things so that makes me want to park it there. Lol If you love thrift shopping, be sure to check out The Thrift Depot. There is some parking behind the building and a parking lot just to the west of the building. The road is closed in front of the restaurants right now to provide outdoor seating. Blessings to the owners of The Thrift Depot. Thank you for caring for others and living your dream!!

Going into Dear Golden is like walking into a wearable museum. This is the nicest, classist, most tastefully curated vintage store I've been in. They also started doing more jewelry and home goods too which don't stay around long so I always see something new they have put out. I also like that the owner and Jasmine (love her) are never pushy or walking around trying to up sell me things they know don't fit quite right or don't match my hair. To the contrary, when I need any help they will whisk into the changing room to tie up that corset one more half inch if I give them a little wink. Finally, I love that they are extremely knowledgeable about the historical significance of the clothes and jewelry. They know all the top--and lesser known albeit important--designers of the various periods and they have encyclopedic breadth of why the clothes were designed and worn. With all the nice articles in there, makes me wonder what's in her storage...guess I'll just have to wait and come back soon.

My partner and I travel to different shops such as this across the US and collect unique items... there are snobby people but dear golden... they aren't them. People reviewing saying they are, now that sounds snobby. I wish dear golden all the best and can't wait to return.

Stopped in while walking off a heavy lunch nearby, and had fun browsing the nooks and crannies. It looks very small when you first walk in, but they make good use of every bit of space and fit a lot of items in. I mostly liked looking at the clothing and jewelry. While I didn't end up buying anything, I was glad I stopped in. Personally, given the small size, I probably wouldn't make a trip just for this store, but it's a nice option to pop into when already in the area.

Two things you should know about me: 15 years later I still look like a teen and wear cut-off gloves, and, I have the ballerina's grace of a bull in a china shop. This pretty much bars me from any antique store explorations. So when I hear "antique" in the name, I automatically think I'll be unwelcome. Apple Annie's turned all my expectations right on their noggin'. The two women working here are magnificent. They immediately welcomed us. I browsed without feeing judged or patrolled. The place itself is cozy without feeling cluttered - the walls are a warm yellow. Please forgive my photographs because they don't do any justice to the beauty of the merchandise or the layout of the store. They have everything from civil war era items to stuff from the 1980s - prices range from a couple bucks to $500+. There are books to dvds to clothing to shoes to jewelry to glasses to postcards to furniture. I find things to be VERY reasonably priced. Many times I've picked up items, flipped them around expecting a cost I can't afford, and then being very pleasantly surprised to see that I can! Although I had the genuine intent of buying a fur cape and thus tried many on, Linda and Lynn (they even introduced themselves later!) didn't seem at all concerned whether or not I was going to actually buy something. This I liked a lot. Unfortunately, the piece I fell in love with was way out my price range (justly so). I am, however, already musing on how I can save up money for the buy in the future. A truly superb collection of hand-selected objects with wonderful shopkeepers. I come here to see what's new (nice things get snagged mighty quick so don't sleep!) and pretty much anytime I need a gift for any friend who appreciates old beautiful things. What a treasure trove.
