Never expect too much at a Value Village. It's going to be dusty, it's going to be messy, and a lot of that is people coming to shop and dropping random items in random spots because they changed their minds. PLEASE - if you change your mind, bring it to the staff at the front. They'd much rather have it in their cart to put back than finding it all over the store. To the review - this donation center is great. The staff is always so helpful and cheerful. I like dropping off items here when I need to get rid of well conditioned items. Shopping here is a hit or miss, as always with thrifting. I do find that I am more likely to find something I like here than at other locations. I think it's because I find this store a bit more spacious, so I'm more willing to spend time looking through the aisles here. The pricing here leaves me kinda iffy about wanting to shop here sometimes. They keep bringing up prices so sometimes, things aren't even a good deal anymore. It's suppose to be for non-for-profit and environmentally friendly to thrift. But here, I've definitely found over priced items, broken items still being sold, and items priced higher than the original price tags attached. Be patient, spend some time... anytime you're thrifting, you need to be willing to spend time combing through each item if you want a chance to find something great. read more

This is one for-profit community thrift store that I truly like. Value Village offers staff a job who would not necessarily get the same support and encouragement in other big box retail operations. These organizations reach out to the local community to drop off new or used products that can be resold to others. Please have the common sense not to treat "VV" as your dump! Ensure the product is safe for the next owner; especially any electrical device. Staff perform basic checks before putting the item out for sale but you know if the product belongs in the dump instead of at VV. It's amazing what treasures you can find here! read more

VV, as it's affectionately called by it's loyal customers, is a thrift store where prices are higher than Goodwill and Salvation Army BUT you will definitely find much more high end brand names here, if that's your thing. You need to take your time to find the real bargains. I've found new clothing items here before but you have to be patient in sifting through the many racks of clothes, shoes and bags. The reason I love coming to this location is that it's my neighborhood VV and I often can find something cute/cool/needed/wanted at cheap prices. Quite poor and insulting prices. I like to look for bargains in the records and CD's but recently they started putting the more "desirable" titles in the glass case extremely overpriced. The art of a bargain requires time and patience and no expectations. Value village provides a place where you can wander around at your leisure and pick through the racks of clothes. Usually I am never lucky to find anything that makes me want to run to the register but today I found this gorgeous black suede skirt in mint condition from Danier for only $9.99! Plus a Zara dress and a Zara fall coat. Also saw some Ted Baker jeans! I must have hit the lotto b/c like I said, I never find anything that I like in my size. They have their selection of Halloween costumes/wigs/accessories out and there are just so many things to choose from. Definitely one stop shop here. They also have linens/furniture pieces but not a lot (more clothes). You may have to come here a few times before you find something but that's the little price you pay (pun intended!) for scoring that item that makes you so giddy! read more

This location was closed for most of 2020 understandably. But I used to go here almost every weekend before doing my groceries at the No Frills nearby. Its all a matter of browsing and sometimes luck. I once got a brand new backpack (still had the tags) for $9.99 and later found out it is $220 at the mall. Most of my jeans come from here. This location has the worst staff members. I went today and a staff member accused me of stealing items when I asked for a price check because the item did not have a price tag. At self checkout she made me re scan everything even though she had already checked all the items and matched it to the screen. The items I had originally asked to price check were taken away. She even accused me of stealing the sweater I came in wearing. Horrible experience, wanted to talk to higher management but was threatened with a ban from this location. I have shopped at this location for the past 3 years and even have a value village flex points / super savers club. This experience has made me consider moving regular shopping locations. Not to mention I even had a small child with me at the time and the employee was scolding us while accusing me of stealing, the child had stated that she was scared and felt like crying after that experience. This Value Village is the best place to shop for Halloween Costumes as this store is big and always has the best selection of costumes, and especially with a cheap price. To save on Halloween costumes, definitely go here instead of Party City, as their costumes are still good quality. I bought a full costume here for $35 which is half-price compared to other Halloween specialty stores. I also did a quick walk through of the store, and there were some interesting finds, for sure, especially on the kitchen/home decor area. They have a large selection of clothes and purses, which is worth checking out. Prices are cheap and bargain-hunting is definitely fun at this store. read more

This value village is WAY TO EXPENSIVE! Someone please remind this place that they are selling donated, USED clothing. My husband and I went in looking for a blue dress shirt. This in a used store should be no more then $5. They were 9.99 and up! Some were $15! That's crazy! I'll go around the corner and by a new shirt at that price. We left. This is my favourite VVlocationas it is big and stuff is easy to find but Iately their prices are ridicuous! There was an Old Navy summer dress for $12.99,( can buy that brand new for $20) Buffalo Jeans $24.99 (I DEFINATELY DID NOT BUY EITHER OF THESE) but this stuff is used! How can they justify these ridiculous prices? I will no longer shop there and will go to Sally Ann locations as their prices are more in line with "Used Clothing" prices. Update: I find that management is rude & seems that they HATE their job & people. A friend just told me she dropped off a lamp & when she asked for a stamp discount card they told her she doesn't get one because she didn't donate enough! WOW!!!!!!! I don't want to write a good review for this place because I want to find all the goodies for myself. Service is typical for any value village. Store cleanliness is the same. It's not spotless by any means but it's pretty typical for the company. In regards to the price/merchandise, I've found some fabulous stuff for decent prices. I've always walked away happy. I've been back to the stores since COVID, They did a good job of cleaning up and social distancing and there is a sanity station. Here the lies the problem, the prices have gone up on EVERYtTHING in the store.by at least 30 % , our pay check have not, I understand that that the stores were closed and there will be increases but this is far worse than a Retail stores.... YOUR stores get USED clothings FREE and could give us a better break. Value Village should be report fir pricing too high, Unfortunately I only can shop there on Senior Day or with a 20% coupon they give fir donation ... big joke. I don't even look at the clothes, prices are outrageously over price . When I asked when is your discount days, said they no longer have them. I do not for the life of me understand why I'm the first to review this location. In fact, I signed up for Yelp to review this back-of-the-woods gemling. I've read many glowing reviews of Value Village branches and other thrift stores, only to be disappointed upon visiting them. The reason? This particular branch: my standards have been set too high. Bags! Scarves! Dresses! (I'll never pay over $30 for a pretty gown again!) You see, tucked away in the hazy realm where East York approaches North York approaches Scarborough resides this particular Value Village. Like any other, you have to dig but I assure you, it's worth every minute. (I'm notorious for frequenting this place once a week, up to 3 hours at a time.) There are good days and bad days, and even the odd days where I walk out without a purchase or five with a dejected scowl on my face. Favourite finds include (all in mint condition): - Steven Madden pumps ($7) - American Apparel tees ($4) - American Apparel skirt, dress (with tags!) ($7) - Zara leather jacket ($25) - Doc Martens ($13) - Teenflo blazer ($14) - vintage silk/leathers Talk about thrifty gems. THIS LOCATION ROCKS. As other reviewers have noted, usually the quality and selection of "VV Boutique" locations is directly related to their environs. NOT SO HERE! This is my prime jackpot-finding location in all of Ontario (second only to the Cambridge Hespeler Road store). FOR REAL. Lighting strikes almost every time I visit. PROS: - BOOKS: Great book section - I have never left here without a minimum of 5 books (buy 4 get one free, b*tches). - HOUSEWARES: big and fast-turning-over housewares section - I have found SO MANY kitchen and garden treasures here!!! Last week it was a birdhouse and six wicker baskets for the garden; the week before it was a whimsical teapot for a bridal shower and a brand new cast iron pan. - STATIONERY: I am a stationery/postcard fiend and I often find interesting letter sets and old greeting cards in the plastic bags hanging on the walls. - DRESSES: I have found every fancy dress for the past 3 years here (OK OK except one from Fashion Crimes and one from Cabaret) - for galas, fundraisers, weddings and parties. It's unreal. Some have still had tags. Great casual dresses too! - ATHLETIC WEAR: Especially Adidas (including great vintage finds), which Mr. Rosie S. loves, and team jerseys seem plentiful too! - SHOES: I have found amazing brands here. You'll always find Nine West, Steve Madden, Aldo, Naturalizer, Docs, etc... but one time I found Manolo Blahniks, I sh*t you not... in size 11. (DAMN!) CONS: - Sometimes you have to fight your way up the ladder for customer service but not often. And the managers are great once you get to them! - Carts (or lack thereof) - Carts are rare commodities here - I'm always stuck with two of those strange (awkward) rolling-tall-baskets-on-wheels-with-telescopic-handle-things. UGH. And there are always 6-8 carts being used by the staff for changeroom returns, checkout hangar collectors, etc. read more

I haven't been to many thrift stores but this one is definitely a favourite. For one it's really clean and it doesn't really feel like a thrift store per se, more like a Walmart? Cleanliness is a big deal for me! This store is hit and miss like most thrift stores, but I have found some gems that I still love, and forget that I got from Value Village! I have noticed though that if I visit too frequently, like within 2 weeks, I will often see the same things again the second time I'm there. I don't know what the deal with that is, but personally I would only visit here maximum once a month. Also I feel that Value Village is slightly pricey for a thrift store. A person would be going to Value Village because they are willing to by used clothes at extremely cheap prices. They are willing to make the sacrifice of it being used so that they can get a low price on it...right? That's what common sense would tell people. But here's what to REALLY expect at Value Village. When looking through the clothes, I expected a pair of jeans to be mmmm.....$5....nope! $10 for a pair of jeans that were not 'gently worn', dirty as hell and stinky. Anyway, there's an example of the condition of everything I bought there. I bought 1 pair dirty jeans for $10, 1 dirty, smelly sweater for $10, and 1 peacoat that was 1/2 wool, 1/2 cashmere for $20 (that was actually a good deal). So for $50 (don't forget tax) that was my takeaway. I brought the filthy, stinky peacoat to a dry cleaners, where I was charged $50 because it was sooo dirty (so a used coat ended up costing me $70+). And the jeans and sweater I had to IMMEDIATELY take to a coin laundry to wash and dry. Because of the stink, but mostly because of the fear of BEDBUGS! So all in all, I went to Value Village to get 3 items, which in the end cost me $100. I just want to warn you: 1) you are not saving $ as you can buy NEW jeans for $10 at Old Navy or Walmart. 2)Don't buy ANYTHING that has to be dry cleaned 3) Don't buy anything that can't go in a hot dryer as that is the only way to kill bed bugs and eggs. 4)For the price you pay at this store, they should at least wash the clothes before displaying. (That's what Goodwill does or did - I'm not sure if Goodwill is still in business as alot of their stores are gone). From now on I will buy NEW clothes. The few extra $ you pay is worth it as the clothes are clean, no B.O. and you don't have to worry about bedbugs. And the fancy coat I bought that ended up costing me $70+, I could have bought new for $120. read more

I don't go here too often. There are two other value villages closer to me. I went to my usual spots.... books , home decor, and crackery. However, this time, i decided to take my time and go through the abundance of clothes. I was surprised with the amount of name brand pieces.. many not in my size, medium. I ended up with 2 bottoms, a book, and some home decor, not bad, i'm really happy. The "expensive" items (over $20) are at the front, not on the floor. Beware of the knock offs though. I shop here often and usually am satisfied, provided I have some time to sort through the items. I agree that you need a lot of patience and persistence! Interestingly I have met up with some regulars who know the location and the merchandise and can advise on bargains. I outfitted a home office from this location, saving several hundred dollars finding the filing cabinets I needed for a fraction of the full retail price. Why are there only two reviews for this location. This value village is amazing. It is in a middle class neighbourhood but I have always been able to find some amazing things here including my prom dress. The staff are very friendly and the store is pretty neat and well aired (unlike other thrift stores I've been to). One thing I have to mention is the selection of books is spectacular. Last thing is the beware the change rooms, long lines form on busy days and maximum is six items but people will have their friends stand outside and hand them stuff so be prepared. read more
