I haven't been to VV Brantford in a long time. I went in last week to look for a specific pair of pants/leggings & found 3 pairs which I would need to try on. I couldn't find the change rooms! When I asked an employee she informed me they had been "removed", that I'd have to purchase the items and try them on at home. I was floored! When cashing out, I specifically inquired about "return policy" and how much time I had to return the item/s. I was informed 14 days to return merch. Never within the scope of our conversation was it mentioned that store policy was "EXCHANGE ONLY". It wasn't until today when I went to "return" for a "refund" was I informed that the store is EXCHANGE ONLY - as an employee pointed to the fine print on the receipt. I was so angry at not being informed of this when I made the purchase & was specifically asking about returns, I tossed the item/s in the cart and told them to keep my money! So NOT ONLY have your stores REMOVED CHANGE ROOMS, you now FORCE people to PURCHASE (perhaps several) ITEMS, go home try them on, come BACK to the STORE (wasting more time & $$), all for an "EXCHANGE" instead of a REFUND!! I'd say that was a HUGE RIP OFF! I have donated several items of wares and clothing to VV over the years - I will no longer be doing that. Your store policies are ridiculous especially when one cannot try on items! Also the prices you're charging for "donated" items is getting pretty extreme - especially when one can buy similar items new for less at discount stores such as Giant Tiger... Bring back the change rooms and "exchange only" isn't an issue - I'm done with VV. read more

Prices are REDICULOUSLY HIGH !!!!! getting MORE than Giant Tiger prices for Brand New Items. A USED fry pan was 14.00 !!!!! I can get a new one for 9.99 at Giant Tiger right now. These places get donations FOR FREE .... to HELP the people who are struggling ?? How? I NO LONGER donate to this place I take my items to Salvation Army.... This place has lots of over priced inventory. I saw a lot of things that are cheaper to buy brand new. I was at the Cambridge store the same day and found that the jeans were anywhere from $7.00 to $9.00 more at the Brantford store. Cookware and trinkets were over-the-top crazy in price - used candles priced at $5.00 and $7.00 is outrageous. Women's tops $8.00 and up - cheaper to buy brand new in other stores. Games - that could be missing pieces priced like they are brand new. I also found things that were torn stained, and broken. The manager of this store is out to lunch, I think the owner must be on a permanent vacation from reality. It's a second-hand store, not Macy's on Fifth Avenue. Good grief! To the lady who was going to buy a jacket that they repriced with at a higher price - this is common practise at this store, which I believe is not legal... I was at this store today and spent a few hours there. The prices are very high for a thrift store indeed. After carefully selecting my finds I brought my them to cash. The cashier saw some flaws in a dress and asked her manager if it could be marked down. She also took away a jacket at that time which puzzled me. She brought the two items back after about 10 mins. wait. She did mark down the dress for the flaws and the jacked she marked up 20 dollars higher. I was shocked and did not take the jacket. I don't think I can afford to shop at this place. My local VV has much better prices. read more

Today our charity group became a partner with Value Village, Brantford to link Value Village to Little Boxes - Plus. We received a donation of greeting cards and ribbon which we will use to make pretty boxes and other gift giving products. I'm an in between size right now, so after trying on at least a dozen or more pants in a couple of different sizes, I only ended up finding 1 pair of jeans and a sweater that was only okay on me. On the plus side, I found a vintage Gucci purse, another designer purse and a modern type of satchel, and each were under $10. I've been to other 2nd hand vintage stores and some are not as expensive as this is. read more

Well, fair's fair. I said I would post again if Value Village responded to my problem, and they did. After I emailed head office with my complaint, the next day, I got an email for the manager of the Brantford Value Village telling me to bring in the item and they would exchange it. So I did, and was able to make the exchange for a larger size as I'd requested. So I've revised my opinion to 4 stars - the only thing that stops it from being 5 stars is that I had the problem in the first place. But as I say, they did correct it, so it came out all right in the end, and I appreciate that they did respond to my complaint. read more

Value Village gets a lot of nice clothing donated to them free but the prices they're selling them for is disgustingly high. Value Village's greed is totally ludicrous and I, along with many friends now donate our clothes to the Salvation ArmyThrift Stores because they are fair with their pricing. The staffs work hard and usually very nice working for minimum wages. read more

Friendly service, well laid out, clean, some good finds happen here. It just expanded as well
