I just have to say that the selection of products and service that you receive at Looney Tunes is second to none. Special Kudos goes to the owner, Paul. Paul makes sure you are completely satisfied and will go out of his way to make things right if you run into any issues. For example, I purchased a new vinyl album and when I got it home it skipped. Unfortunately, its hard to prove that this is a defect in the vinyl in a situation like that. But nevertheless, Paul was willing to return it, but first he asked if he could take the record home and work on it and make sure it was free from any manufacturing debris. Therefore, he took his own personal time and took the record home and cleaned it for me that night. The next day I returned to receive the album and when I got it home it played flawlessly! Thank you Paul, for running a great store and more importantly, standing behind your products!

Moving to a larger location on Port Credit's East side (about 1 km east of Hurontario), about 4 years has allowed for Ric's to expand their offerings and inventory to a point where you feel like you've traveled back in time to the 60's/70's to go record shopping. All the classics are there... like all of them! If you're a true audiophile, this is the place to be. I spend almost an hour doing a 'quick' skim of the categories that interested me most. Ric's has got a lot of vintage vinyl going from $6 up to $35-$40, there's something from every genre, category and generation on his shelves. That said, if you're looking for something old... brand new, he's got an expansive collection of re-releases and pressings that he keeps on regular order. These can range in price from $25 to over $100 depending on the album. For those still loving the smooth skip skip skip sound of CD's, Ric's has a good helping of these as well. I didn't choose to browse because if I want digital music, I'll download it from itunes, plain and simple. But if you're still a fan of the old compact disc, I'd swing by here and check them out! Today I picked up a Best of the Beatles 1967-1970, Kick by INXS and Blue Train by John Coltrane! I can't wait to get them home to listen!

However, the thing that really stands out to me is their basement. And their basement they have records that I had only ever seen online. They have all of the anime soundtracks, and video game soundtracks, and to bring it back to the early '90s record shops, they have an entire rack of dollar discs. You can easily spend an entire afternoon just searching through the discount discs trying to find one or two that's stand out to you. That's what record stores used to be all about to me. And, if you go on record store day, they have the biggest selection I've seen anywhere.

It's really nice that if you are looking for something they don't have, you can create an account on their site and save your search so that you will be informed if it comes in to any store. It's also nice that they will transfer your items to any store you wish for free for pickup. It's unfortunate though, that quality control is pretty poor across the chain. I've ordered CDs and received discs that are scuffed or otherwise less than mint. Yes, their business is in used merchandise and used merchandise is often not perfect, but there is no disclosure of condition at all. They seemingly cater to collector types, so I think that is an omission that should be addressed.

His vinyl is always of excellent quality and his selection changes so frequently that I have missed out on some gems in the past. His CD wall has grown since he sold that beautiful Seeburg juke box: (shame shame Keith). Oh yes, let's not forget the great coffee and large selection of different teas. And last but not least, Keith supports local artists by displaying paintings on his walls. On Sundays, he invites local musicians to perform for those who venture in between 12:00 and 17:00. All in all, one of my favourite spots on the Lake Shore. P.S. Bring in your vinyl and Keith with WASH it for a pittance. The difference will amaze you!
